"Buckle" is not great -
Disappointed in how the shoes fasten. It's not a true buckle, but one that hooks on the back side of the strap. It doesn't stay hooked well at all, and I tried several ways. I bought these for a six year old girl, and they are cute--but the "buckle" type would prevent me from ever buying again or similar styles.

Great looking and comfortable -
These are very comfortable for my 8 year old daughter and very cute for the holidays as well. Be aware that the buckle is supposed to stay buckled, and you just hook it onto a metal thing that's attached to the shoe. It's kind of bizarre but it works just fine. Well actually, you do adjust the buckle for the right fit the first time you are wearing the shoe, but then after that you don't have to touch it anymore. When you undo the buckle for that first adjustment, the buckle comes completely off, so be careful not to lose it.
