The shoe fits great, the cinch clips on the drawstring worked after they were replaced, which took two weeks to get fixed and refitted with a different set that would work. As for functioning as an outdoor hiking shoe, they are worthless. They are basically a very expensive pair of slippers for around town use.

Poor tie system -
The shoe fits well, looks great, but has a poor tie system; you can not secure them to your feet. The friction slides will not hold during walking around the house, let alone under pressure during a good hike. They will come loose and come off.

Like the style and fit. Pros- comfortable looks good even in size 13 and good price. Open design really keeps the foot cool. Cons- shoe laces have plastic binding style locking device the slides down to tighten the slide up to lock in place after one week plastic lock does not hold place. This causes foot to slide in shoe when going up and down hill or trail would get annoying after a couple of hours. Not to mention safety issue. Also found that loose gravel was easily kicked in the heel of shoe while walking. This too could be due to lose shoe lacing. Even with the cons I like the shoe when the laces and lace lock works. Might just cut the plastic lock off and put new laces in. Support could be a little less firm with more cushioning. Fix the lace lock issue and it five stars.

Comfortable, low break-in time -
I ordered these shoes a week before doing a marathon-and-a-half fund raising walk. Someone had mentioned wearing two pairs of socks to prevent blisters, and having a shoe half to a whole size bigger for friction reduction, so I ordered these a size bigger. With virtually no break-in time, they were EXTREMELY comfortable on the 40 mile walk. For high mileage on pavement, the soles were just a touch firmer than I'm used to, but very wearable and comfortable none the less. Easy-lacing system is very nice. This is the first shoe in this style I've tried, but I like it a lot.

"Cool"
I've been looking for a boot-shoe for work, one that was cool in the summer. After a lengthy search I finally found Zappos! I wear them everywhere!

 |  | I want you to know how pleased I am that my dad received his shoes so quickly! He got them today. I am amazed! He is a patient at the VA hospital in Denver. He is a WWll combat veteran who lost his leg after stepping on a land mine. Recently, he was taken to the VA hospital because no one at his present home could care for him. He was sick, malnourished, and to add insult to injury, could not use his prosthetic leg because it caused a sore on his amputated stump. To shorten a long story, he had no shoes with him with which to begin learning to use his new prosthesis. I ordered them Saturday as soon as I hung up talking with him and he received them today. Now he can begin the long journey to regain his stride and health. He will be returning to the east coast of Virginia to be with family.
