Excellent running shoes if you are a mid-strike or front strike runner. Also very comfortable to walk in. They run wide (most New Balances do), but I have wide feet so they were a perfect fit. They look great, but are hard to clean if they ever get dirty.

These "Chi Running" shoes are designed for mid-foot strikers. I am now on my second pair. The shoes work on all surfaces, but running almost exclusively on sharp, rocky trails in Mexico, I only got a few hundred miles out of my first pair. But, the stability I get from these shoes are still worth it.

I am a runner and. . .
I'm a female with a large wide foot (hence the men's shoe). I'm also a pretty hard core-runner (1:35 half marathon, average 35 mpw when not racing, been doing this running thing for 30 yrs). This shoe rocks! I'm a mid-forefoot stricker (no wear on heels) and have had these shoes for a hair over 2 weeks (right at 100 miles so far) and they're still in great shape! Normally other trainers (landreth, adistar CSH to name a few) would already show serious lateral wear by now. I did put in a thin heel pad to increase the heel:toe ratio of the shoes. I'm loving that I'm thinking I might get over 2 months out of these shoes (I can wear a typical trainer to the midsole in a month, so this is a huge improvement)!!

MR800 YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR-
I am a medium mileage runner and have had trouble finding a solid shoe that is comfortable and light...The MR800 accomplishes both problems. The shoe is a very nice looking shoe with bright colors in a very modern layout. Running in the shoe is comfortable and the shoe is light. The only problem I seem to run into is that the heel is relatively low to the ground creating not so much strain on the achilles as much as a different feel than normal shoes which have a significant drop from heel to toe. This shoe sits much more level than others...but the shoe is still very comfortable yet not overly cushioned like many of it's Nike and Asics' counterparts. It gives you solid control but supports and cushions just right.
I would recommend this shoe to anyone. But like most runners would suggest- do your homework, try shoes on and make sure that this is the model you want. I tried on at least 15 different pairs before I went back to the original plan and bought the MR800. I do not pronate so the shoe is perfect for me...also if your foot is wider don't automatically run to the e width...NB "E" width is much wider than it's counterparts and you might end up with a sloppy fit..if you can't find this model in stores try on other NB's to gauge your size...if you aren't a runner this is an awesome walking shoe with a sharp look to it.

The New Balance M800 for midfoot strikers -
The New Balance M800 is advertised as being specifically designed for mid-foot strikers, i.e., runners whose heel rarely touches the ground. They are promoting the shoe to proponents of Chi Running, which advocates running on the balls of your feet. While I am not an advocate of Chi Running, per se, my gait is such that I naturally land mid-foot. Since people who land mid-foot are almost by definition underpronators with a rigid foot structure, we are looking for a shoe that does not have too much internal structure that will impede what little pronation we have. If you are an underpronator looking for a neutral shoe that doesnt get in the way, I think you will find the M800 a very enjoyable shoe that lets you run fast. The shoe is very comfortable and relatively lightweight. At around 11 oz. it is about 1-2 oz lighter than a typical neutral trainer. The only complaint I have about the shoe is that the heel to-toe ratio is rather low, meaning that the heel sits low in the shoe. This can cause additional strain on the Achilles tendon. Pros: A simple design that will work well for underpronators. Good fore-foot cushioning. Lightweight. Cons: Could put additional strain on the Achilles tendon.
