Sliding Off the Pedals...No More!
I ride a recumbent tricycle which puts my feet forward and at an upward slant. My shoes have slipped off the pedals a few times and that can be both disconcerting and dangerous. Wiping out on a tricycle is not a dignified event. I bought these shoes at Zappos and then got a new set of pedals for the bike and the cleats that mount to the bottoms of the shoes (note: cleats are not included with the shoes). The system works very well at locking my feet to the pedals. This situation would be terrifying if I was on a normal bike until it became an instinct to rapidly disconnect my feet from the clamps. On a trike, it's not a problem since it's always stable even when you're stopped. I had to reorder these shoes 1/2 size larger because they are smaller than my normal size. Even with the extra 1/2 size, they're snug and I can only wear thin biking socks. They are not great for a high arch and the velcro just barely straps over my feet, but it's enough for me to manage and they are really very comfortable while biking. The rigid bottom is protective and the bottoms of my feet don't feel so bashed after pushing on pedals for an extended period. Don't even think about trying to walk in these while the cleats are on...or you'll fall down and break your crown. Put them on while close to your bike, or while sitting on a trike. Overall though, they are very comfortable during a ride, and I'm glad for the purchase.

 | | No complaints, I found this web site last year and it was the best find on the computer. The variety of shoes is unbelievable and the prices are incredible. I also find it amazing that in a blink of an eye, my shipment of shoes is at my door. Personally I feel I get the best of shoes from Zappos that I can't find anywhere. When you have a child that has a shoe thing and I get to order a bunch of her so called popular shoes in one sitting, it saves a mom a lot of time and stress. I tell everybody about this web site. Without Zappos I'm in a lot of trouble. And to have her come from school saying "Mom, everybody loves my shoes," that sums it up!!! | | ~ Bobbi O., September 03 2008
