Stiff -
This boot is rather stiff right out of the box. I almost sent it back, but then I had done one hike already and couldn't. I am slowly getting used to it. The closure is super, its quick and it holds well, easy to handle with gloved hands.

Envy of my hiking/snowshoeing group -
I have always been a Solomon fan. I buy their low hiking shoes regularly (I hike a lot) so when I recently moved to Colorado and took up snowshoeing and winter hiking I wanted a good, waterproof, comfortable boot. I FOUND IT. This boot is GREAT. It keeps my feet warm and toasty. I bought a half size larger than I normally wear because I wanted to wear heavy wool sox and this works very well. The only complaint I have, and it's minor, is that the laces have a way of working loose after a while. However, with the lacing system on the boot, you just hold the tab, pull the laces tight again and you're off. I find if I just tighten them at lunch stop that does the trick. Try them, you'll love them.

Had to get my own -
My husband has the men's version and I would always slip them on to take the dog out. They were warm and cozy, but far too big so I had to get my own. Due to the padding these shoes feel a bit smaller than marked out of the box, but my husband says his only took a few times to break in. I love not having to lace/tie while still being adjustable, unlike zipper boots. Plenty of room for tucking in my snow pants. Now I just have to wait for snow!

Warm and comfortable -
Very warm and comfortable. It felt quite stiff when first trying on, but I keep my laces pretty loose and felt fine when walking around. It seems it will last quite a while, nicely put together.

Sizing -
They seem to run a little short, so order a size up.

Yummy!
Very sleek looking compared to other boots. I got these mainly for hiking in cold/wet conditions. Excellent ankle support. Even though they are technically snow boots (I think), I think the tread is good enough to handle non-snowy terrain. They are not as "chunky" as a traditional pair of hikers, which is my favorite part. The faux fur is super soft and warm. If you want TRUE waterproofing, then Gore Tex is the only way to go. The lacing system is a little weird. If you don't "lock" the plastic lace piece, they will start to come unlaced and loosen on your ankle. The piece also rattles with every step if you do not lock it. I may end up cutting this off and just tying them like regular boots.

 | | Shopping with Zappos was an excellent experience. I have worn Clarks shoes for a number of years and have never had a bad pair. The service was exemplary. I received the shoes approximately 3 days after ordering online. I received the right color, right size and right style. Thanks for your excellent service. I will be glad to recommend you to friends. | | ~ , October 31 2008
