This is my first pair of shoes to help correct my over-pronation. They are great for this purpose. I have stability like never before. I also feel this shoe will help prevent worsening of my problem. \r\n Zappos is great, too, in handling shipping orders.
Other brands recommended by reviewer: Brooks is another good shoe for pronation although thet tend to run narrower.

Both the WR1011 and WR817 were selected because of my wide flat feet with bunions and narrow heels, plus my current (painful!) plantar fasciitis (both heels). While the WR1011 ran a half size too small, the WR817 ran totally true in length and width. I'm rating these 5 stars after taking them straight from the box to walk the dog tonight. My feet actually felt better from the much needed support these provided. I'll be replacing the insert, like always, with a gel product. New Balance inserts don't do the trick for me, but I wouldn't trade their shoes for anything!

Good shoe for overpronators and those who use orthotics. Quality cushioning and stability for heel strikers. Unable to comment about whether or not it is a true high mileage shoe, but New Balance continues to live up to its reputation of making a quality shoe for the individualized runner.

Just what my flat feet needed! These are a delight to wear, supportive, breathable, and there was no breaking-in period. I love them right down to the twisted laces that don't untie themselves. Buy them!

I loved this shoe. Looks great, feels great. Runs true to NB sizing [I always order one size larger in NB than I wear in street shoes. I wear thick Thorlo socks]. I liked everything about this shoe. It's very well constructed.

This shoe is the only shoe I wear - unless I have to dress up! At 58 I have numerous foot problems - post tibial dysfunction, a bunion, and several stress fractures in addition to the wide, flat, over pronatating feet I was born with. These shoes accommodate my custom orthotics easily and provide lots of support. I own several pairs so I can throw them in the gentle wash cycle as needed.

As recommended I ordered a 1/2 size larger and the fit was perfect. They required absolutely no break in time. Right out of the box I started to wear them for my walking routine approximately 2.5 miles daily. They are very comfortable, they provide the support, & the extra sole cushioning that I was looking for. Thank you to Zappos customer service for helping me find these shoes. I'm walkin with a smile.

I love these shoes. This is my second pair, and they fit and support like a dream. I am overweight and have trouble with my ankles and arches. With these New Balance shoes they both get support. They are also stable for when my husband and I go trail walking.

I needed a supportive shoe for my arches. I also use orthodics. These shoes fit the bill. I was able to run in the sand and my feet felt great!

These motion control sneakers are great! I pronate because I am flat-footed and I also have bunions on both feet and these sneakers in a wide solve the problem for me. They are not the prettiest sneakers I've seen but for problem feet they allow me to walk/job in comfort. They are true to size as well. I ordered wrong first time and Zappos was great with the return. They shipped me the new one right away and I had them in 1 day without billing me for the second pair. Customer Service second to none!

Wonderfully comfortable with lots of room in the toe box. I have bunions and these shoes give great support and no pressure on the bunions.

Good shoe for special needs feet!
This shoe fits true to size and is a good walking shoe. It provided room for bunions and also gave my foot stability. It is a bit chunky looking if you are in to the looks aspect of shoes. I like them...

Good for flat feet.
I always go with New Balance because their sizes are usually pretty consistent and they make great motion control shoes. This pair seemed a half size small though. I usually wear an 8.5 narrow, and had to send them back for a 9. They're great for people with flat feet that roll inwards, it's practically impossible for your foot to roll. The laces are a little annoying at first. They are made not to slip, but they loosen up a little with use and are easier to tighten.

I have very flat feet and I was really disappointed that NB discontinued the 1122. I do not like the fit of the NB 1123 at all. However, these shoes, the NB 817, are excellent! If you need to wear orthotics and/or pronate, this is the shoe for you!

Felt a half size too short,and without wearing a custom orthotic,the arch support would not nearly be enough. The seams up around the toe area tend to rub a lot.

NEW BALANCE -
Good arch support and stability. But the length feels slightly shorter than other New Balance shoes that I've had. I had returned another cross-trainer that was not available in an 11.5 and I ordered it in a 12 but it was too loose. They need to try and make all their shoes true to the size stated. Most of the time, I have not had this problem with New Balance.

Just what I needed!
I started working at an Inn in a very old house. I LOVE my earth shoes but the unleveled floor and constant reaching up was doing a job on my back so I decided to revert back to NB. What a difference! My feet don't swell by the end of the day and reaching and "balancing" are equal to doing these tasks on a cloud. I bought these specifically for work but it looks like I may have to buy a pair for "play"!

Great Shoe for Over Pronator -
I have a very hard foot to find a shoe for. In retail you can’t find 2E wide shoes for women. Zappos has many styles and sizes in wide. They don't all look like they were made for older women. I am also an over pronator. This shoe corrects that problem and feels great. I am very happy with the space in the toe box.

Stability last works -
I have chronic pain in one of my hips due to an injury. I recently bought a New Balance shoe (W767) that happened to have a stability last and to my surprise, found that its ability to keep my feet and ankles straight alleviated some of my hip pain. So I looked for another New Balance shoe with a stability last that I could use specifically for gardening and ordered WR817. Very good support, sturdy construction, and roomy toe box.

I have a narrow heel and very high arches so I overpronate. I saw a specialist who wanted to sell me major expensive arch supports and shoes. She told me the same things that I was able to figure out from your descriptions of foot problems. I ordered a half size larger as that is what all suggested. No more arch pain and no heel blisters. I’s telling all about Zappos!!! Great service. I returned two pair before finding these.

New Balance 817 soft and comfortable -
These shoes definitely run short! I ordered the same size as the other New Balance I wear (926, 767, 768) but these feel a half size smaller than those. I recommend ordering one full size up from your regular street shoe. For a motion control shoe these are surprisingly light weight. I'm happy with that! The upper mesh area is amazingly soft and my toes can wiggle freely. Also happy with that! I wear a wide width only because I have a Morton’s neuroma on my left foot and these shoes fit nicely, not too loose in the heel or midfoot. Overall they're wonderfully soft and comfortable. They're not stiff and don't feel like clodhoppers.
