These shoes are exactly what all the reviews said. Very comfortable. I\'m a 5 1/2 with slightly high arch. I bought the 6, because I was afraid I would have a hard time getting it on my foot. No problem at all, and there\'s room for a heavier sock. But not too big that my foot slips around. My shoe of choice is the Dansko/Sanita clog. This boot is almost as comfortable. Love it!

First of all, Zappos must have warped the space-time continuum to get these boots to me overnight from SUNDAY (when I ordered them) to MONDAY. That is amazing. I live in a slightly rural area and I can't even get FedEx to bring me next-day packages. And I didn't even choose expedited shipping! That is extraordinary to say the least. Secondly, the boots are great. Unlike other reviewers, I made sure to call The Frye Company first and asked them directly about sizing, since I'm a 10 1/2 and not a 10 or an 11. I figured they'd know their product best! They told me to size up, so I ordered the 11. Boots are always hard for me because I have big feet and big calves, so slipping them on doesn't usually work and the openings are always too tight on my legs - but these are PERFECT. I can take them off and on without too much hassle, my feet fit in them great, and the minor heel slippage I was expecting isn't detrimental to walking; it's something I recognize from cowboy boots anyhow. I put the boots on first thing this morning, even though they don't match at all what I'm wearing, and I'm not taking them off! Ever!

I love these boots. Took a week or two to break them in, but after nearly two years these boots still look great and are molded to my feet. The only downside is there is no room in the foot to put my orthotics in, so I can only wear these a few days in a row without getting foot and knee pain. But that's my own problem, the shoes themselves, for someone that doesn't have messed up feet, are fantastic.

I've wanted these boots for years, and they turned out to be everything I hoped they'd be. The fit is perfect, true to my size exactly, and they were comfortable right out of the box. I didn't realize they would have arch supports, but they only took about 20 minutes to get used to and then I didn't even notice them. Probably made the boots even better for my feet. The rugged look really does go surprisingly well with skirts as well as jeans. I would recommend these boots highly.

The shoes arrived quickly and were exactly the right size. I am a size 7 and they fit perfectly. The boots are a bit stiff, but will hopefully get softer once I wear them. Good quality.

These boots are awesome. They are my second pair of Fryes and I can't say enough about them. They are comfortable right out of the box and they have that rugged, worn-in look. The leather is superior over any other brand I've owned. Love these boots!

Awesome boots. As many reviewers have already pointed out, very hard to get on and off, especially if you have high arches/instep. Very nearly impossible, in fact. (The price you pay for no unsightly zippers, I guess. I hate zippers!) I ended up having to order a half-size up just to get them on, after I injured my foot battling with my actual size 8 (which, perversely, was plenty roomy in the footbed, once I managed to get the things over my instep). If you have very high arches, it's almost not worth trying. That said, I did try, exchanging the 8's for 8.5 and, though they're roomy, and still no picnic getting on/off, I'm glad I persevered. Obviously sturdy, well-made, fabulous looking, outstanding arch support, and I can tell they will last many years. And although they're not cheap, I think the price is reasonable for this quality. Don't give up!

I do like these boots a lot, so much that I still kept them even though they leave black dye on my skin or socks. I just always wear dark socks with them now. They are comfortable and look great with jeans or casual skirts. I usually get 7 1/2 size, but opted for the 8, the right choice for me. More room makes them warmer and space enough for an insole if needed.

I am a sneakers kind of girl so I was excited but hesitant to try these boots out. They look really cool - a little dressy and a little tough, and are pretty comfortable for being boots instead of sneakers! No blisters on the back of my heels or on my toes! The sizing seemed just right, the only slight discomfort comes from the top of the boot hitting my extremely bony top-of-my-foot. I expect the discomfort will go away after I've worn these for a few more weeks. I love these boots!

Alas, no. These adorable boots were to tight in the toe and slipped too much in the heel to be as practical as I hoped they would be. I loved the look, but I need something I can wear for long days.

As in the past, Zappos had very fast delivery which is why I love ordering from them. The reviews I read about the Frye engineer boots were very helpful. I ordered size 8 1/2 which fit perfect. Can\'t wait till it gets a little cooler so I can start wearing them. They are everything expected.

A classic that you'll have for years! Fit: I am usually an 8, occasionally an 8.5. Bought 8s; fit is perfect, no width or length issues, no trouble whatsoever sliding my slender normal-arched foot into this boot. Comfort: Feels great. Minimal & normal heel slippage because this is not a fitted, zippered boot. Break-In Time: none at all. The only possible tiny issue is that the knots on the Frye label are a bit rough on bare skin. Wear socks or put moleskin on label inside boot. Style: The ruggedness somehow makes your leg look more feminine and thin. I am talking about the 12R, which has a shaft about 9" tall. The boot is also not as clunky as it looks in the photo. Shipping: Zappos rules. Ordered at 1:30 am on Sunday morning, arrived Tuesday afternoon. Very pleased.

There really is a reason that these are considered "classic." I waited longer than I should have to finally buy these. It seemed like a lot of money for ones I couldn't try on first, but man am I glad I got them! They look even nicer in person, and fit me true to size. I had read the reviews beforehand, and knew that the first couple of times putting them on would be a bit tight, but once on they felt amazing. The look is tough, & classic. They look great with skirts, shorts, or jeans. I am petite, and these still looked great, not overwhelming with added bulk. These are going to be with me until they fall apart, which I don't see happening for a very long time. They are excellent quality. My first, but certainly not my last, Frye purchase. I finally see what all the fuss is about.

Feel true to size. The heel is not too low and not too high. The rubber sole has some cushion, which is nice in a boot. These boots are so well made they will last forever! Love these boots!

These are those boots. You know, the ones you always reach for and feel invincible wearing. I've had gaucho brown since October 2003 and they're still my go to faves with jeans, in any temperature. More comfy now than ever. Got them for the tough-yet-only-slightly-rebellious look. Turns out they're pretty comfortable on my sport bike and have an oil resistant sole. They even survived a low speed crash into the side of a trash truck with no twists or bruising to my ankles/feet. You know it's love when insurance offered to replace them because of a dime sized surface scratch and I declined. They seem to fit better the longer I have them and they age beautifully, at least the gaucho does. Watch yourself on compact snow, they're like ice skates. Seriously cool boots for the urban cowgirl.

I eyed these boots for well over a year before buying them. I wish I hadn\\\'t waited so long! They are a great looking boot (bought mine in black). I ordered a size 9.5 which ended up fitting fine in the end. Initially, I had difficulty getting my foot in the shoe- it kept getting stuck at the seam of the heel. I\\\'m impatient with breaking shoes in so I brought them to a shoe repair place and had them stretched at the heel. Now I love them. Great with dresses- these boots add some tough to the sweetness and will surely last forever.\\r\\n

Love my boots, although since it's summer I have not yet worn them. I wear a size 10 in athletic shoes and a 9.5 in almost everything else. I ordered a 9.5, but needed to exchange for a size 9! I love Zappos. The ease of the exchange was much appreciated!

Awesome Boot -
I've been wanting to get these boots for a couple of years now. Bought them in 8 (I wear 7.5 - 8 - more 8s since I've had kids)... they fit perfectly. VERY hard to put on since I have a high instep and arch. Would have given up, but figured they'd fit if only I could get them on. Once on, these boots fit perfectly from day one. No "breaking in" period necessary, except for putting on (literally took me a few minutes per shoe at first!). Wore them on a motorcycle trip right away. Great to wear all day long. Looks great, too! Expect them to look slightly different (the pair), as they are real leather and that's the way it goes. My husband bought the Harness boots and they look great, too. I like the square toe better that that boot offers.

Funky fit, classic with big style, wear with gym socks -
I was unsure what size to buy after reading the reviews. My feet measure 9; I have bunions, but otherwise slender feet. I asked Zappos what size to order, they said 9. I wish I had ordered 9.5.
This boot is confusing to try on. The toe box is extra roomy but the length is short. I thought the 9s would fit me until I had been wearing them for a week. By the time I had figured out this boot, it was too late to exchange. I have tried several different socks, and added a thin insole. The toe box is so roomy that I need a heavier sock; I wear ankle/gym socks. They run short, so go up a half size.
Make sure that this boot slips on your heel when you walk. This is no joke. The boot must move freely over the heel, or the blisters will keep you from ever wearing them.
I love this classic boot now that they are broken-in. I bought them for the motorcycle, but wear them every day, even for walking all over town. I had the shoe repair place put on heel plates to keep the heels from wearing out and I wore those out in record time! The heel is just the right height and I feel pretty wearing them. These boots get a lot of compliments!

Very cool-looking; have been meaning to get this boot for a long time. I'm 5'9" with a medium calf. The top of the boot hits me low-to-mid calf, but they don't fit snuggly, so they're very flattering. Interesting how some people say order a half size up or down and others say the boots fit true to size. I'm usually a 9.5 (though I wear 9 in Børn and Kork-Ease). I ordered the 9.5, and these boots were HUGE on me. They felt like 10 or 10.5! I know there's supposed to be some sliding up and down in the back with a boot of this type, but it was ridiculous. I tried them on barefoot, but I knew there wouldn't have been much of a difference with thin socks or tights (what I plan to wear with them). So yesterday (the same day I received the 9.5) I ordered the 9 and they came today. (Thank you, Zappos; fastest service EVER!!!) These fit fine. A SLIGHT sliding up and down in the back, but judging from the other reviews, that's par for the course. And I had no trouble slipping my feet into them (as a lot of people have complained about). The only thing was I found that the part of the boot with the buckle was digging into my right instep. BUT I tried them on in bare feet, and I'm sure this will go away once I break in the boots. (Of course, socks will help, too!) I'm also thinking I could probably wear these with thicker socks once the weather gets colder. And I'm also thinking I can play around with the instep buckle. So not to add to the confusion, but THIS girl says order a half size DOWN from what you wear, especially if your feet are on the slender/narrow side, as mine are.
P.S. I'm wondering if the black (which I bought) fit differently than the gaucho (brown) ones do? I've found this to be true with some shoes/boots.

 | | Many thanks. You are an awesome outfit. I have ordered from Zappos in the past and never had customer service like this time. I've ordered 3 pairs of shoes within the past 24 hours and all have been upgraded and I shall receive them this week. You have improved your customer service 100% and I applaud you. I live in San Francisco and within a mile of a couple shoe stores. I will now do my shoe shopping with Zappos...much to my husband's chagrin! Your great service will be spread around to my friends. Again, many thanks. | | ~ Tina M., October 19 2009
