As previous reviews have stated, these shoes had a terribly strong chemical smell when they first arrived. It smelled very similar to gasoline. Not something you want your shoes to smell like. However, after a couple of days of airing out, the smell was completely gone. The shoe design is very nice. I have received numerous compliments on them in my office. I would buy them again. The one thing that did concern me was that the leather across the heel was so hard that it cut into me (literally) the first time I wore them. I had to manually manipulate and stretch the opening before I could wear them. After that, they have been great.

I bought these shoes because they were one of the few square toe black dress shoes out there. I have wide feet (E\'s) and these were very confortable. After you smell wore off, and that took some time, the shows did not last more than 6 months. I wear dress shoes 6 days a week, and these shoes were put through a serious workout. If you intend to wear these only a couple times a week, your milage may be longer. My pair began to split in multiple places where the leather was stitched together. After trying to repair with some super adhesives, the leather began to go next.\r\n\r\nNot a bad shoe, but the price reflects the longevity. My $80 Kenneth Cole\'s have gone the distance.

Good shoe at a great price -
Like most dress shoes, there is a break-in period for these. I've only worn them twice and my feet were sore after each wear. I have these shoes in black and I've head them for several years now. They are the same size as the new brown pair and the older pair are actually kind of big now. I'm sure the new pair will stretch over time and be as comfortable as the others. These are great looking shoes... I've received many compliments. Beware of the strong scent you will smell at first. It does wear off however.

I bought these for my husband a couple of years ago. He is a very picky dresser and he loves them. I have since continued to buy them as they wear out in each color.

Zengra Shoes.
Solid construction, the leather is very tight and will take some time to work in, but should do well. I'm a fan of inexpensive shoes and changing them up every 6 months, these will definitely last the winter.

Wonderful!
I bought this shoe for my husband and he absolutely loved it. There was a very strong smell, however, he didn't mind it and told me all shoes have an initial smell. The size was perfect and it looked so stylish and classy. My husband also said the shoe is extremely comfortable. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Great 3rd pair!
This is my 3rd pair of Zengaras and I've never been disappointed in them. I love the look of these shoes and I've never had a problem with the sizing. The slip-on's are comfortable and feel just fine. Yes, the smell is there as with all of their shoes, but I've found that it goes away pretty quickly and I've never had it to be too offensive. Great pair of shoes - will be purchasing another pair as they wear out.

These are great, but the weird smell hasn’t gone away in 6 months of leaving them outside. It smells like a tire shop. Headaches...

These are great looking shoes for the price and very comfortable. The smell is overwhelming and about makes you sick. I'm going to give it about 2 weeks and see if it goes away.

Smells Like Trouble!!!
I sure liked the look of this shoe! It was elegantly styled and had a nice finish on the leather! But they really have a "rank" smell as soon as you get them out of the box! I had to return them a few days after I received them.

This was not my first pair of these shoes, so I was not surprised that they wear so well. I enjoy the comfort and get complimented on the way they look from my daughters who are very much into what looks good in shoes. I think they are excellent in everyway and make my feet smile!

Excellent value, classic look, some smell -
Z30008 - Colour: Tan Buffalo
Pros: Square toe and classic shape; stitching quality good (though machine, not hand); Comfort; price.
Cons: Smell; Cheap sole and "fashion" written all over it (hopefully, will wear off soon); Made in China; Visible elastic on side (not hidden by tongue though this is hard to find!).
A note about the smell: Use quality leather cleaner and neutral wax and smell is gone shortly. So initially bad, but treatable.
Overall: Will likely buy again in another color. Good value.

These shoes SMELL SO BAD -
This shoe was one of the two pairs that I purchased that were made by Zengara. Both look really good, but they smell really bad. The odor is so bad that it gives me a headache. It smells like diesel fuel!! I left the shoes outside for WEEKS and it still never went away. It's pretty embarrassing to wear to work when your coworkers call you out on it. Shoes look great, but it's not worth the headache and embarrassment.

Good shoes, but...
These are quite comfortable shoes; however, the chemicals that they are treated with still linger some time. The shoes have a smell like dissolvent, gasoline, paint thinner, or something similar. You will notice the smell as soon as you take them out of the box, and so will some coworkers at your next team meeting.

Great Shoes!
Very nice shoe. So far, it's comfortable and although the design is simple, it has been getting great comments from people when I wear it (I think it's the elegance). Zengara seems to make great shoes.
