The Jack Purcell's arguably look a little goofier than the Chuck Taylors I've worn for years, but I agree with the reviewers who say they are more comfortable. Also, I found my size 11 Purcell's to be the SAME SIZE as my size 11 Chuck Taylors, so if you have Chucks, I'd recommend ordering the same size. (Note, however, that I wear 11.5 in Nike, Saucony, and Adidas; so based on my limited experience, order Converse canvas shoes a half-size down.)

I got these in a size 10 to replace a size 9.5 pair of Chuck Taylors. I definitely got the right size - the Purcell's in 10 are almost exactly the same size as Chucks in 9.5. So, if anyone is replacing a pair of Chucks with these, try a half size up. They are far more comfortable than Chucks, and don't seem to have any break-in period. They seem better made and more substantial than Chucks as well. Unfortunately, they are kind of ugly-looking from certain angles. Chucks are just a cleaner, more streamlined, more classic style. But I just can't put my feet through that kind of abuse anymore, so Purcell's are the way to go.

Perfect casual shoes!!!
I am an athlete/tomboy who mostly lives in flip flops and sneakers when not at work. I normally wear Asics Tiger Onitsukas, Pumas, or Adidas but saw this pair on someone and thought they were really cute. I got them Friday afternoon and wore them to a party/bbq that night and was totally comfortable all night (until almost 3am on my feet the entire time). Definitely recommend these! I wish they had them in red! I got them in a woman's 7 (I am normally a 7.5).

I love these shoes so much! After years of wearing Chucks, the squishy soles that line this model feel so decedent. I also sometimes use my green Superfeet insoles for a change; it is so nice that the original insoles are removable. I wear these with jeans or shorts and they look very classy.:) They are perfect for walking all around campus all day or for shopping. There are only two problems I have with them: 1) They are not as durable as Chuck Taylors. After 2 months of almost-daily wear, the rubber up on the tops started cracking where it met the fabric. Also, the soles seem to have worn out really quickly. I have had them for about 5 months and the back of the heel has worn away from the bottom of the sole, so there is a small gap on the bottom of each shoe near the "Jack Purcell" logo. The tread is also almost gone from the bottom. 2) The white fabric gets REALLY DIRTY!!! Like, almost black on the tongue of the shoe where the shoelaces rub all day. Is this dark color from the metal in the grommets? I don't know. But it's really bad. Also, the shoe laces come undone easily. Overall, though, I am happy I found such cute and comfy shoes and I'm going to buy another pair even if they don't last forever! (But I will probably buy black ones).

LOVE MY JACKS!!
I LOVE my JACK PURCELLS!! They are cut big, so get a half size smaller. Mine are actually a women’s 7.5 and usually wear an 8.5 and sometimes an 8 but never a 7.5. I have the white ones and plan on getting the black next.

Love these shoes!
I wore these every day for 3 weeks on my vacation and they are great. Very comfortable and perfect for city treks. Zappos is awesome - It was a last minute decision to get these and I was able to get these in a day just in time for my trip.
I am definitely buying another pair from Zappos when these break down.
They run a half size smaller - I normally wear a 9 but had to get these in a 9.5 for a perfect fit.

Seemed Comfy at First -
Really cute sneaker. Looks great with skirts, shorts, jeans, and capris. Would be perfect for walking around town if they didn't give me terrible blisters. The first day I wore them I got huge blisters on my heels and my pinky toes felt really smushed and sore. 2nd wear I tried w/ socks and didn't get blisters but heel and toes still rubbed. Maybe they need more break in time in the toes, but I'm afraid heel blisters are inevitable because of the way the shoe rubs as I walk.

A very comfortable, casual shoe. Other reviews said this shoe felt a 1/2 size too small, but I did not find that to be the case.

Classic with very clean fashion looks-cheaper than J Crew.
I love these shoes. I bought in all white and it’s a great look even with a navy summer suit with white cotton tee for ladies...kind of classic Katharine Hepburn look. I usually wear a size 8, if you want to wear bare feet you might want to order a half size smaller, I thought it is little too wide without socks.

I feel that this is a great fitting sneaker. It is also able to be worn with multiple types of clothing. The order was fast and efficient, I would recommend this shoe Converse has been around a very long time, they are true classic shoe.

Cute but not nearly as comfy as they should be -
I had to take the insole out and replace it with another one because they weren't as comfy as I wanted. They don't feel like a sneaker but more like a cute shoe you want to wear even though they feel a little off.

Some months ago I developed severe lower back pain, which after days of care and treatment only got partially better. I tracked the source of the pain to a couple of things one being the heel on my regular sneakers that I wear when I am out for a casual outing or running chores.
I reluctantly ordered these on the advice from the kids in my family - reluctantly because I believed these are worn only by kids and young adults.
I was wrong - I now love these shoes.
They are extremely comfortable - I almost feel like I am walking barefoot, with none of the discomfort of walking bare foot outside.
The benefit of wearing these shoes was immediately evident to me. The first time I wore these I returned home from my usual weekend chores and I wasn't feeling the normal pain in my calves that radiated to my lower back. At first I wasn't sure if the benefit was due to these shoes, but the relief and comfort was evident every time I wore these.
I love these sneakers - they have helped me rid of my back pain - they are not only very comfortable, they also look fairly nice.
I almost got the regular Converse sneakers, but some how they looked awkward on me - then I found the Jack Purcell's and they looked much nicer.
Also, just order them in the size that you wear in your regular shoes - don't go a size up or down. I first got a pair that is one half size smaller and I can only wear them comfortably without socks.
Also - Zappos rocks. Their service has been very good. I have bought a few shoes from them since I got the first Jack Purcell's and there is never any delay or quality issue. Their return service has also been very good.

Great summer sneaker!
I am very happy with my new white Jack Purcells! They will be a great summer sneaker. The arch support is better than regular Converse (I don't think I will need inserts while I definitely need inserts with my Converse). I like that they are all white with the small blue line on the toe. Very classy sneaker!

The shoes fit to size. There is little padding or arch support, so don't plan on doing rigorous activities. But for a clean, classy look- these guys are it. I did buy new shoelaces. The original laces are a little long and flap around. Get white 43" laces for a buck and you are on your way.

Still great shoes after all these years!
My new Jack Purcells are as great as they were when I first bought them years ago! They are the essential bop-around-town sneaker providing comfort and hip style! They run a bit on the large size, so I would order a 1/2 size smaller.

I followed your advice to go a half size bigger and the shoe turned out to be too big. The problem is I didn't realize they were too big until I broke them in. I'm a 9.5 and ordered a 10. THIS WAS A MISTAKE and I should have stuck with a 9.5. The customer service was top notch, but the size suggestion was bad advice for me.

Great Shoes, Very Styling. A true cut above the rest… by the look of the laces, sole, and toe, people will know you are wearing designer shoes. I have really flat feet and these are very comfortable. ***** 5 Stars!

Old Time Jacks -
I had Jacks all throughout my teenage years and lived in them. I was so grateful to find them and receive them so quickly and affordably. I ordered a half size larger than normal because I need a wide shoe and the Jacks are available only in regular width. They look and fit fine, but are a little tight across the instep.

This shoe is so much more comfortable than Chuck Tailors. If you like the look of the Chuck, but want more comfort, go with these. They are an amazing shoe. The size may be about a half off, but I can't really tell anymore, since so many shoes don't really offer the same sizes.
