Got an 11EE to start with, but it was a little narrow. So I went with a 101/2 4E. It felt a lot more comfortable being a little wider. Shoes feel as if they are already broke in when I first put them on. I swear by New Balance shoes!

Disappointed with color -
I owned a pair of brown MW748 that I wore out. I had a 9 wide. These fit similarly, but were of a disappointing color. The brown is lighter and greyer than the MW748 shade of brown ... I thought it was quite ugly.

Good fit and good traction -
I bought this shoe to hike the Israeli countryside and over all terrain. They functioned so well I bought another pair. My only complaint would be with the heel lining after 2 years it started to wear out while the rest of the shoe is as good as ever.

Very comfortable. Great shoe for work if you have a casual dress code. Runs about a half size smaller than marked and is a little narrow, but that's ok with me since I have a narrow foot.

What is New Balance's Version of Wide?
I have moderately wide feet, so I ordered a size 9 4E. The actual width of the 4E is not any wider than that of a size D. The toe box is narrow, and my feet still hang over the side. The heel is so wide that my feet slip right out when I walk. NB should make the actual shoe wider for 4E instead of just lazily adding more material to the heel. Other than that, they look great and are durable, but still extremely narrow and uncomfortable.

The shoe is well constructed and attractive, however, after wearing the shoe for one day I experienced a great deal of foot pain. All my shoes are a 10M as these shoes were, but the fit was not true to size. Unfortunately, I discarded the box and now I am stuck with the shoe and have to purchase additional shoes. Rather disappointing.

Comfy but a little narrow. Color was a little darker than sample photographs and narrower than a typical double E size.

Ordered the 749 and 965 at the same time in my size 10 1/2 4E. The 749 is too small, toe box too short. Have ordered 11s instead. Great service.

Good Walker -
This is my 5th pair of NB shoes and I bought them for walking my mutt. We walk over 2 mi. on sidewalk each day, and these shoes do a good job of protecting my left heal spur. Good fit, no rubs or blisters.

I have trouble finding shoes wide enough for my feet. Zappos.com has taken the pain out of shoe shopping. I ordered the New Balance MW749 in size 10, 4E, and the fit was perfect. They are one of the most comfortable shoes I have worn straight out of the box, no break in required.

I bought these for my husband to take on a trip he has coming up this summer. I suggested he wear them a few times to try out and break in. I think he has worn them everyday since then! Seriously he loves them and asked if they came in other colors. And this from a guy on his feet all day in a business setting.

Disappointed first round -
What a bummer this shoe is. I order it in my size and it not only feels a full size too small but the EE isn't even close. I could barely get this shoe on my foot and when I did it was horrible. If you’re a real man with real man feet then go to a store to try it on first. I love Zappos but my only gripe is not being able to test fit it first.
I'm going to try a bigger size and 4E width but my feelings for New Balance are pretty low at the moment.

I purchased the MW748 last summer for my son to trapse around Germany. He loved them to death! He asked for a pair exactly like them. Unfortunately they are discontinued and we purchased these instead. He loves them!! He is hard on shoes and these have lasted so well. Very comfy also!!

New Balance for me has always fit right out of the box. This pair although labeled 2E is too tight and hurts my left foot to the point I've stopped wearing them. The only good thing is the outer sole which is hard. I walk 5 miles every day on black top and need something that resists wear.
