These boots are very comfortable. The shaft is tight on my athletic calves, but at least I can get them zipped. In time, I hope they will stretch out. The style is very casual, but I've been able to wear them to church with some skirts. I'm very happy to have found these. Zappos gave their usual above and beyond shipping and service.

Very nice boots-very cool. A little too simple so unfortunately will send them back. The detailing is nice as most have noted. Also you must order a size smaller-I listened to what most people said & ordered one size smaller and they fit very well. They are very comfortable. Having appreciated everyone's feedback decided to write one myself.

Happiness is a pair of boots that fit -
Where do I begin? First, I ordered these boots at 6:30 pm Thursday and received them at 3 pm on Friday. Absolutely, without a doubt, the best service on the planet. Second, they fit! My calves are between 16-17 inches at their thickest. I struggled a little with the right boot (who knew my calves weren't the same inches) but managed to get it zippered. They fit wonderfully. They give enough that my calf is not suffocating. The toe bed is fantastically roomy and the overall support is very comfortable. I bought the brown for a more casual look to go with denim skirts on a casual work Friday but they still look snazzy enough to get compliments. I'm ridiculously happy.

Versatile fashion -
I love these boots! I live in a snowy New England college town and they are perfect because they're warm, comfortable and they give just the right fashion edge to an outfit. They look great with skirts and with pants tucked in. I have had lots of compliments.

Love this boot!
I'm usually very fickle about boots. I have bought and returned a few pairs until I came across this pair. This boot is not too dressy not too casual. It is perfect with a pair of fitted pants tucked in or a cute shorter skirt and a pair of tights. I have gotten a lot of compliments on them. The price is not too bad, and it looks like a quality boot.

Leather looks cheap, like shiny pleather. Ordered size down and still had about 1 - 2" in the front of the boot. Looked clownish on b/c of the length. One good note - if you have big calves these are roomier than other boots in the calf area.

Walk 12 blocks one way to work on city streets. Super comfortable for my bad arches, heels and knees. Stylish too.

Fits WAY bigger than you'd think -
I saw these boots in a specialty store but they didn't have my size, so I ordered from Zappos (thank you Zappos for being amazing like that!). I read the reviews, learning that this boot runs big, and carefully chose size 7-7.5. I usually wear an 8, occasionally 7.5, so I was nervous that this boot would be too small. In fact, my foot was swimming in it! I'm very sad to have to return them, but there is another oddity about these boots: the footbed is huge, the ankles are super-slim, and the calves are wide, giving it almost an hour-glass appearance. The calf width was actually good for me; I have "fat calves" and usually have a problem getting knee-high boots to zip up without injuring myself. Also, when you look down on the boots when wearing them, the foot looks...'fat'. Overall, the look of the boot is fabulous -- the leather, the stitching, and I felt I could walk all over the city in them, but with the ankles so slender, I couldn't fit jeans into them, so they'd really only be good with casual skirts, and I just couldn't fathom making a $150+ investment in something that I could only wear sporadically. Other people mentioned a strange lump in the sole, I didn't feel that.

I ordered these boots but am returning them. These are very very good sturdy looking boots, but not they are not the look I had in mind. I need a dressier boot. Good fit but the heel is a little snug. I ordered size 8.5-9 bases on others comments that these boots ran about a half size larger than stated. Good choice as I usually wear 9.5-10b. I would keep but they are not what I need at this time.

Ran large -
Because of the rustic top stitching, these boots are more casual looking than the photo shows. They also run very large and have a strange lump in the middle sole that may supposed to be a metatarsal support.

Unfortunately I will need to return these boots. However I want to say that these are beautiful for functional boots. The top stitching is a great detail that you can't see in the pictures. The 40s fit true to size (9.5) like all my other Reiker’s and are really comfortable also like all my other Rieker shoes. I had hoped to wear these with jeans tucked in, but the ankles are a little too tight for that. For someone who wears warm, long skirts for walking in winter weather, these could be great or for tucking in less bulky pants. The leather and top-stitching could be really nice for a functional boot for cold weather city walking. I'm sorry I will need to return them!

The perfect boots for me -
I have been looking for black leather boots that fit my criteria: comfort (low heel), grippy soles, wide enough calves, easy to put on and take off, some arch support or room for an insert, and cute enough for teaching (elementary school) or just running around. I found them! Yay! Thanks Zappos! You rule!

This is an ok boot. Kind of plain but it is very comfortable. However, if you have x-large calves this will not fit. In this case x-large means `14.5 and larger - although you could stretch the leather. However, I feel that because of the style of the boot - this would not be a flattering look on x-large calves. Better for average calves. Also, the size 8 fits like an 8.5 or larger.
