Great boots that actually fit my legs!!! The reason I bought these boots is kind of strange. My dance group was making a calendar and I was part of the month of October. My costume was a sexy pirate, and I had everything I needed except for the boots. I always knew I had thick legs, but I never wear knee-high boots or really any kind of boots, so I never realized how much of a problem it is to find boots that will fit me. Also trying to find boots in July is impossible!!! This was my first order from Zappos, and I'm really happy with them. The boots actually zipped up with no problems. They were a smidge tight at the very top, but walking around in them a few times quickly made them give a little. They style of the boot actually made my size 9 feet look petite. I actually have slender feet with a narrow heel, but the regular width was just fine. The heel insert is awesome, but as a person who never wears high heels past about 2 inches, it was kind of hard to walk in them, and after a couple of hours I couldn't really walk at all. But that would have happened with any high heel shoe. The inside lining is nice, soft against bare legs. I just need more practice! I think they are well-made and a good value. I can't wait til winter when I can wear these boots more often!

LOVE THESE BOOTS -
I have tried on dozens of pairs of boots and I have never found a pair that would fit my calves. These boots fit them perfectly! I had to go down 1/2 size because of the rounded toe. I believe they run a little big. Thank you!

Finally found one!
I have been wishing that I could wear a tall boot, but given my 17.5" calves, I've been constantly disappointed in the past. I love this boot! Like other reviewers, I had to get used to the round toe (I think it looks weirder from the wearer's overhead vantage point than it does in general). I also had to order a size smaller than my usual size 12, as my foot was swimming, and the shaft of the boot was actually too big. The 11 fits just right in all respects. The ankle does tend to be a bit big overall so the boot does scrunch a bit there, but the shaft is nice and tall -- I'm 6' and it came about 1-2" below my knee.

I actually am not a round toe person but I love these boots...I have to hide them from my husband (lol) but they were well worth the buy. I have a real hard time finding boots that fit my big calves...love them, love them, love them!

This boot is very handsome. The leather is a really pretty texture. I only wish I had taken the "wide-calf" to heart... it really is a wide calf. I chose ground shipping and Zappos upgraded me to overnight for free. Which was awesome. I have to return them because there is way to much room in the calf but that’s okay because I've already found another boot at Zappos to exchange them with. :-)

Too bad so sad... (comfy, almost perfect)
So I know all the big calf ladies out there have looked far and wide for the perfect boot, and I can say that the Denise Fitzwell was almost that!(The problem was me not the boot). Plenty of room in the toe box, a great gel insole and enough room for my 16" calves! Consider ordering a 1/2 size down, since it's so roomy! (I'm exchanging for the Jigsaw Fitzwell. *Fingers crossed*).

I have a wide calf and normally NO boots fit them EXCEPT for these ones. They are big on even me. I suggest measuring your calf before buying them. Cute look though.

Great look and fit, little cushion for ball of foot -
The shoes look great and really fit well. They are just perfect for me. The only downside is that while they really promote the cushion for your heel, you don’t really walk much on your heel in 3 inch heels -- a cushion on the ball of your feet would be much better for this style. Buy some good inserts and they feel much better.

Bought this boot in both colors -
This boot is really nice. I learned with buying the first pair, to order the second pair a half size smaller. The ankles are roomy but for a girl with big calves, the fit is good. I just wear ankle socks. I wish the toe was a little pointier but the rounded toe gives plenty of room to wiggle. This boot looked just like it did online. I think the ankle strap and buckle gives it a nice modern look. Waiting for more boots to come in for the wide-calved girls, Zappos!

Craftsmanship iffy but VERY comfortable -
When I received these boots, I was a little disappointed in the finishing on the sole of the shoe and where the heel connects to the sole of the shoe. Just doesn't look as polished as some other shoes the same price. I was thinking about returning them but they are SO darn comfortable. May keep them, may return them...still on the fence.
Gotta love Zappos' return policy! I can waffle over my decision for weeks and still be able to return them with a full refund...LOVE IT!

Cute, but too big -
I usually have a difficult time finding boots to fit my athletic calves. When I opened the box, I was impressed with the color and style of the boot and was super excited to try them on. However, once on, the entire boot shaft was too big. The ankle area was nearly double the size of my ankle and although it easily accommodated my calf, I looked like I had pirate boots on with at least a two inch gap around my legs. However, my toes were comfortable and the shoe seemed like it would be great to wear all day.

Great boot -
I bought this boot in the brown and black leathers and it's a spectacular look. This boot says that the calf is 16", but I'm pretty sure mine are larger than that. The very top part is SLIGHTLY flared, which helps avoid a bulge at the top. The ankles are indeed very roomy and tend to sag. Still, it is a great look and I'm keepin' them both!!!

Calf size not true to description - too big - cheap looking -
I measured my calf in the morning and at night to make sure it didn't fluctuate. It came out to be a little over 15 1/2 inch circumference at the calf. So I thought these boots would fit perfect, maybe with some room for my pants. The calf area is way too big, by at least an inch, maybe two. I am practically swimming in them. Also the boot leather looks okay, but the sole of the boot looks really cheap and where it comes up to meet the leather it looks like it won't last very long. You can see the glue lines.

These boots are so sexy! I have a very wide calf and have been looking for a sexy, feminine, knee-high boot for the last two years. My search has ended with Denise. Those boots zipped over my calves beautifully. They have a nice heel height and are very comfortable. I wore these boots for seven hours straight with no problems. I love these boots so much that I am considering buying them in brown too. They also come right under my knee (I'm 5'0"). You will not be disappointed by these beauties. These boots run a bit big; I normally wear a 6, but the 6 was too big, and I has to go with the 5 1/2.

Finally A Boot For My Large Calf!
All I can say is that, after 7 years of looking and trying on a gazillion pairs of boots, I found these! I've been looking for sassy high-heeled boots with a round toe, as I can't walk properly in pointy-toe shoes. I have short, not petite, legs. My calf measures around 15-16 inches. These do, indeed, fit well however they do not fit perfectly. I have to stand up to zip them, but they zip! (First time EVER a pair of zip-up tall boots zip on me!) There is a gap between the back of my leg under the knee and the top of the boot, but I'm fine with that. I can have someone take that in. The ankle portion is baggy, but I'll live. Again, these boots zip up my legs!
If only they could make the ankle length shorter they'd be perfect!
Other shoes recommended by reviewer: Every pair of these boots in every color! I have brown and black.

 |  | Converse are Converse, can't really go wrong, once you get the sizing right. My applause goes to the Zappos team. You guys are great! We ordered the shoes for my daughter's return to school, and originally ordered them too big. (Converse sizing seems to run two sizes smaller for women.) With the wrong shoes still at my home I was able to order by phone the correct size as an exchange, on the promise that I'd return the incorrect shoes within two weeks, no additional charges to my account.
