Very good shoe - I had bought New Balance shoes in the past with good results, so I ordered these. Appreciate they come in half sizes, as well as different widths (I ordered a 2E). You get a lot of shoe for the money - good outsole, heavy cushioned sole, strong materials on the top shoe. They take a few wearings to break in - I probably wore mine two weeks, a couple of hours a day, before they broke in. Very cushioning - I walked all day on asphalt in Washington DC and really only felt a little bit of soreness under the balls of my feet, which is pretty good because usually my feet are toast after a weekend walking all over DC. The 992s look classy too. The fit is sort of neutral - they are not incredible high or low arched - very neutral fit which should suit most people. These shoes are great walkers or joggers. They are just a classic, well made runner using top quality materials.

Best sneaker I've worn in years.
I bought my first pair of these at a local shoe store. They were out of the women's sizes, so they sold me the men's. I think I have finally found the perfect walking/athletic shoe for me. It's comfortable and my arches don't ache in these. Not exactly "feminine" looking, but I'm all about comfort when I'm exercising. I am so glad I found these on Zappos. It's my second pair. I may go ahead and buy another in a few months, just so I know I have them, when these wear out. Great shoe. Always happy with New Balance, but these are the best style and fit for me so far.

Pleased with New Balance shoes and delivery -
I'm 58 and relatively new to competitive running. Before I bought the New Balance M992, I ran in Asics GT-2110 which many runners and a podiatrist recommended. I have no complaints about the Asics, but in the past I always tried to stick with New Balance athletic shoes made mostly in the USA. So when my Asics started to get old (about 400 miles), I decided to try some highly rated New Balance. I just resumed running after an 8 month bout of plantar fasciitis in my right foot and recurring knee and various other pains. I have put enough miles on the 992s (15-22 miles per week) to say that I am every bit as satisfied with them as with the Asics. My daughter told me about Zappos, so I visited your website and after a little research, decided on the New Balance shoes with high US content. As I said, I have no complaints at all about the Asics, but I'm very satisfied with the 992s and with Zappos service. The shoes were delivered within 24 hours after my on-line order and that was a very pleasant surprise. So in the future I will definitely be a repeat New Balance from Zappos shopper!

Great, classic shoe -
This is a great, classic shoe. Heavy for serious mileage, but for the gym, and walking around, there's nothing better. Great support and cushioning. I'm an over-pronator, but with my orthotics in place, these are one of my fav's.

After reading the reviews I thought I'd try the M992 for my high maintenance, long, narrow, flat feet. They are not as comfortable as I was hoping, but my heel spur is not complaining, and after inserting gel cushions the shoes feel less wide. New Balance seems to know the exact places on my foot that are irritated by stitching and makes sure to double stitch (without padding) in those areas. A few adhesive cushions here and there and I'm good to go. I've worn them outside now, so I guess they're keepers.

Zappos is awesome!
I ordered the New Balance 992 for myself and for my wife. They're awesome. I started off by ordering them a half size larger like I have always done with these shoes because they tend to run a half size small. It took me 4 prs. to find the right size and the same went for my wife. I am a 12 med. and that is exactly what I bought. This is the first pr. of New Balance that has fit true to size for me and my wife. At first I figured since I was dropping down a 1/2 size I should order a wider shoe but that wasn't the case. Length was right but it was too wide. So as I mentioned this shoe for me was true to my foot size. I recommend not ordering a half size larger. I still had a thumbs width left at the toe. I would recommend this company to anyone. They were so helpful and polite even up to the 4th and final pair. In spite of all my ordering mistakes I still received each pair back in 2-3 days. Zappos "you guys are the greatest!" You've got all of our business from here on out.

My family has been wearing NB992 for years. We have found that these are the best and most comfortable running shoes. We would highly recommend you trying a pair, once you do you will never wear anything else.

Third pair of 992's. I feel with the combination of rugged trail and road running that I do these shoes offer consistent stability and are light enough to run the (2) 10k races I run in each year.
It seems to take a while to adjust to the newness but after a week or so feels like a really good fit.

"Vacation Foot Syndrome" Saver -
At 5'8", 250 pounds, I know that a vacation is going to be a real foot killer for me. Suddenly walking all over the place trying to do and see everything my meager vacation time will allow, is going to cause heel pain, tenderness and ache in the balls of my feet and possibly even small stress fractures and micro tears in foot tendons and ligaments.
I ordered the 992 after hearing a lot of good things about it and also seeing that in a poll of like a thousand regular walkers, the 992 (then the 990) was the favorite. We were preparing to go on vacation and I knew I'd be walking far more than I would normally.
My feet did still hurt on vacation. I'm way overweight with the poor muscle mass to go with it so no surprises there but the 992 was more comfortable than any other I've tried and it provided great support. I never rolled a food while turning fast or had to quit for the day because of sore feet.
The biggest surprise was when my feet felt totally normal again the second day I was home from vacation. That's about two weeks faster than any other shoe.
Definitely worth the price and I received the famed Zappos service in that they upgraded my shipping from the 3 day service I ordered, to next day service. The shoes arrived the day after I ordered and were perfectly packed and boxed and looked great.

New Balance 992 -
I always order a size 8D in all my New Balance shoes. The 992's fit perfectly in length and width, but these shoes have a moderate arch support compared to my last few pairs of New Balance running/trail shoes. The 992's are very light in weight, but pretty heavy on the wallet. All of this sums up to my 4 star rating.

This is a fantastic sneaker, very comfortable from the first time I put it on. Would highly recommend them. I shattered my ankle 8 months ago, so was looking more for comfort and support and these sneakers deliver on both very well. As far as Zappos is concerned, the company is great. Great Shoe for Bad Feet -
I've been buying New Balance for 20 years because no other shoe provides the comfort. Early on, the shoes I bought did not require orthotics for comfort. But my feet have gotten worse with time, and I now require orthotics. I'd love to find another shoe style (for variety) but the M992 is the only shoe that provides the comfort I require.

10 minute a mile runner -
This is my fourth pair of New Balance M992 (and its predecessor model(s)) dating back to the mid 1990s. I updated after about 3 years on my last pair because it seemed like I was always just jogging. The first time I ran with the new ones the difference was incredible; running is so much easier and fun that they literally forced me to run faster. I cut almost a minute off my one mile time. They also last “forever” I still use my first pair for dirty work like mowing the grass and gardening after over ten years. My other two pairs are so comfortable and well broken in for walking that they will continue to be my walking shoes around the house and informal occasions. However, after running with the new pair I realize I should probably get a new pair after two years in the future. I will reevaluate next year, but I think the spring in them will last for two seasons. I don’t remember the make of the ones I bought before my first New Balance shoes, but I do remember that I was so impressed with my first pair of New Balance shoes that I decided they would be my future running shoes. Of course the new ones fit perfectly because the size of my previous ones is under the tongue of the shoe and they had fit perfectly.

This shoe was everything that I hoped for. I have a narrow long foot and the size I ordered was true to size. The shoe is well constructed and was totally comfortable right from the start. No break-in needed. This is a great shoe and Zappos is a great company to deal with. They are first class all the way.

A shame...
These are built just as well as 990/991, but the heel is too high and way too firm. Also, the sizing is WAY off on these. A full size larger and a full width wider than the previous model at a given size easily.

Excellent quality shoes -
I purchased these after wearing Brooks Beast and Brooks Adrenaline for the past several years. The M992's are most similar to the Beast as look and feel like a very heavy duty bulky shoe. The build quality and comfort is excellent and they look as if they will last for a few years. I have some rather thick orthotics that I transferred over from my Brooks Adrenaline shoes and they fit very well in the M992's. Although these are made in the USA, they are usually a size smaller then your street shoes. In other words, if you wear a size 8 shoe, you need a size 8 1/2 for the M992.

I've had this shoe before. Same this time as before. I'm 52 and am running for health, not competition. The shoe is deep enough for my orthotics, well cushioned, moderate support. My favorite.

NB M992 are terrific -
I introduced my husband to these about 7 years ago - he is a long distance runner - and good running shoes are important. These are just perfect for him to do his training in and we do replace them at least once a year - I would recommend this shoe to anyone - I am sure once you purchase them, you will love them too.
