Very comfortable, decent looking -
Looks more like a tennis shoe than a typical Ecco. Not so great with jeans, very comfortable and casual style. Could use some better design elements.

Solid shoe, awful name -
I ordered the Ecco Performance's A-Traction Dakota Vibram Dip… (sorry, I have to catch my breath)… along with a pair of Keen Truckees and Zamberlain Florence GTs looking for a durable and comfortable pair of shoes for doing a lot of urban walking. The Keens were relatively comfortable right out of the box, but just a bit too ugly to wear to work. The Zamberlain looked cool, but didn't fit well. The Eccos passed both the look and fit tests. In a way it wasn't a fair 3-way competition as I already have a pair of Ecco business casual shoes and have been very impressed by their durability and comfort. These Eccos (the "dips"?) had a little bit of a break-in period and the cushioning isn't as pillowy as what you might get out of a high-end running shoe (is it a sign of middle-age that I would even consider buying a "walking shoe"?), but they feel like you can walk for miles and miles and miles. The vibram sole and the removable heel insert (they give you a red and a green insert. I couldn't tell the difference by poking them with my thumb, so I've yet to try the red supposedly "soft" insert) give it the feel of lightweight hiking shoe. At this point, I'm undecided whether they're worth the money, but I imagine in a year or even two years, this shoe will have proven its value.

These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. Since wearing them my knee and back pain have been significantly improved. They look and feel great and doing business with Zappos is a pleasure.

Built like a fortress -
This is a sturdy, well made shoe. Along with this, it is comfortable and fairly attractive. By any stretch of the imagination, it is not cheap but Zappos had the best price I could find on the web. As usual, Zappos' service is second to none.

Second Pair -
This shoe has exceeded my expectations. I bought the first pair (light tan) for a good looking comfortable walking shoe. The second (black) for my motorcycle.

I've owned these shoes for almost three months now and these are some of the best shoes I've ever owned. They combine support, cushion, light weight, quality of materials/workmanship and an attractive design to a degree that is mostly unsurpassed. I have not been thrilled with Ecco quality for quite a while - since they moved to non-Danish factories, in fact. And their design has not been inspiring, but this shoe makes up for a lot. I wore these on a trip through France and Italy, pounding the streets and trails and museum floors relentlessly - and they were perfect. At home, when I put them on to go for a walk, I honestly feel like walking farther and faster. I have the sand nubuck color and it gets dirty fairly easily, but it's also beautiful and plush. You can switch to a softer or harder heel insert, depending on your activity. These have an outsole that looks similar to the ordinary receptor outsole, but vastly improved since the last one I tried - a little softer and tackier, which I prefer, since the old receptor soles slipped on wet pavement. These hold much better. Even though the price is a bit hard to swallow, it paid off as an investment that helped me make the most of expensive European travel (the poor dollar!). We were on our feet all day and most of the night - and these shoes helped to make it all wonderful. Now I wear them at home whenever I can. Made very well. Way to go, Ecco. Highest Recommendation.
