Beautiful and comfortable boots! I\'d been looking for the perfect flat leather boots for several years and had returned several pairs in my quest. I didn\'t even think Fryes were right for me. These ended up being the right ones. They work equally well with skinny pants and skirts/dresses and can definitely be worn all day comfortably. I get compliments on them wherever I go in them. Highly recommended!

I spent a lot of time looking at the various Frye options, and ultimately chose these for a few reasons. First, the calf is big enough to easily fit leggings, and even skinny jeans, without looking oversize or bulky. Second, the quality of the leather feels excellent. Third, they break in pretty easily and are really comfy! I have pretty wide feet, and these are working fine so far. I ordered them in a few different sizes, and ultimately went with a half size down from my usual.

The boots I have been waiting for! I am 5' 11" and have been searching for years for a boot that was not only tall enough, but wide enough to fit my 16 calf. Finally I found this boot and after thinking of purchasing it for 4 months, I decided to go for it and I love it! Frye makes a great high quality boot, the leather is soft and the boot is beautiful! I had no problem wearing it and fitting my jeans inside. I bought mine in a size 10 (which I normally wear) and it fits fine, I wouldn't go a half size down for fear that it may not fit my leg. The leather sole is slippery, but before I ever wore them outside I made sure to go to my local cobbler and have them place a rubber pad on the bottom and plastic tap on the heel so that it won't wear down. If you are thinking about getting these, go for it! Just be sure to take care of them, it's a high quality leather boot, not meant for the rain!

I wrote a review on these boots previously, before I ever really wore them. My opinion has changed drastically. I took them with me to Europe and wore them 2-3 times. One of the days it rained. The boots got completely soaked inside and out. It wasn't even major rain and I tried my best to avoid puddles. The right boot especially, was soaked after an hour. The water damage is irreversible. There are dark water lines all over the boots, and I gave them 2-3 days to dry. Still there. Also, the soles are super slippery even in dry weather, so I was constantly slipping and almost falling. What a nightmare. I was under the impression that these are high quality "rugged" boots, and for the price you would expect that. Not so. They are just like another other cheap shoe, and in fact none of my other boots ever got this wet out in the rain. When I contacted customer service at Frye they basically told me they are a "fashion" boot and not meant to be worn out in in the rain. Ridiculous! Unless you live in a desert where it never rains, don't buy these. Waste of money. Also they run about a size bigger. I wear a 9.5, and the 9 is too big for me. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere; don't ever buy Frye. This was a splurge for me, and I regret it.

I ordered these boots in tan, and I love them! The saddle color seemed too yellow; then tan is just what I was looking for, neutral and sophisticated. So comfortable, quick to break in and the leather is gorgeous. Definitely more roomy in the calves than other boots I've tried, but they fit perfect on me (5'8" with average-size legs). Tough to get on, but very comfortable. I'm usually a 9.5, but sized down to a 9 for a better fit. As always, props to Zappos for easy ordering and quick shipping!

These are very comfortable, stylish, run half size larger, well made. The sole might be a bit slippery on a rainy day. It's not easy to take them off; I ask my husband to pull them. If you are 8.5 or more, this kind of style, with the border around the shoe, could make your feet look larger, but not these shoes. These are the best!

Wow...these are the boots I have been looking for! I have tried on many flat black boots and they all seemed to bunch up around the ankles and look more like rainboots...not these! They fit terrific! I have also had trouble with boots fitting around my calves with jeans tucked in but I had no problem with these. Additionally, I got the boots earlier than expected...on the second business day! Overall a great experience!

I love these boots. I've been looking for the perfect boot for ever and I finally found them! I get compliments on them everywhere I go, even from men (who rarely ever notice what shoes a woman wears!). I wear them with leggings, jeans, even dresses and they always look hot! I recently wore them for the first time expecting them to pinch or hurt or rub against the heel which is what I get with most new shoes. These didn't hurt a bit. So comfortable. Maybe slightly bigger than actual size. I usually wear a 9.5 and the 9 fits me even with a thick sock. The leather is super soft, fits easily over my calf and into jeans (and I have a pretty big calf). Love the color (I got the tan ones). I hope they do okay in the snow and rain, for this price I expect them to, but that remains to be seen.

I usually have a hard time finding a tall boot that fits over my calves; however, after seeing these featured on the Today Show, I thought I would order them and give 'em a try. I was so excited when I received them today and had absolutely no problem fitting them over a jean. The size seems to be true to size, especially with a light sock on with them. Frye never disappoints!

Good Boots, but I don't love them, I was looking foward to these boots since I really decided to splurge (Frye boots are my new guilty pleasure). I was looking for a dark brown tall boot with a low heel. I work from home and have horses. I like to be stylish and updated, but still be able to get to the barn if I need to. While these fit the bill, they were almost too casual and slightly dowdy. The foot and ankle are pretty slouchy and don't have a whole lot of structure. They reminded me of the boots worn by the men on 'Little House on the Prarie'. I couldn't see myself pairing these with a skirt. The sole was also pretty thin. If I pay this much for boots I would expect them to last for years. I would have trouble believing they would last more than a couple, then you have to have them resoled. However, they were comfortable and you could walk quite a bit in them with no worries. Since I already purchased a black pair of tall Frye boots (which I LOVE), these are going back and I will wait until next fall for the brown ones. My brown Frye Engineer boots will get me through this fall and winter.

Let's put it this way, I was coming home for a long vacation and these boots were waiting for me in their package, and I was almost as excited to see them as I was to see my boyfriend (who I think suspected that!). Anyway, they absolutely did not disappoint. They are more utilitarian and casual than sleek; I wouldn't wear them with a diamond necklace, or if I was going for a really tailored, fancy look. I'm a student and they are perfect for my casual wardrobe. The leather is so gorgeous and the detailing makes them look awesome with tucked in jeans and tights (I actually blew a ton of money on new tights purely to wear with my new boots). I think the little cut out at the back of the boot is a really cute detail and makes for a great back view. I wear a size 8.5, debated going a half size down because of all the reviews, but ended up playing it safe and getting an 8.5 and it fits perfectly. I have wider calves (I was in Europe recently and was so upset I couldn't get a gorgeous pair of leather boots there because I couldn't fit my calves in any of them), but these fit perfectly. They are a great choice for us wider-calved gals. I'm 5'9", have long legs, and these come up to just below my knee. The soles are a little slippery; I nearly toppled the very first time I wore them and it rained. I'd also recommend spraying them with waterproof leather spray to protect this fairly large investment. All in all, a gorgeous boot and perfect for someone with a more casual lifestyle. This was my first Zappos purchase and I was amazed that they got the boots here in about 24 hours, not sure how they do that, but it was by far the best service I've ever had with online ordering.

These boots are awesome; they fit true to size and are very comfortable. I bought them for my equestrian classes but they're fashionable enough to be worn with my regular clothes. The leather is soft, yet sturdy, and you have a lot of room around the calves for those of us girls with slighter fuller legs!

Boots are lovely. Excellent quality, comfortable and I think they are quite cool! Good advice about sizing - they fit perfectly. They are also practical for riding! Zappos were great to deal with. I had to make a call to order from Melbourne (Australia) and the staff member I spoke with was most courteous and helpful. The order arrived in about a week as advised. An excellent riding boot (even for not riding)
I was looking for a somewhat slouchy brown boot and was having no luck (wrong time of year, clearly). This boot is comfortable and good looking and plenty comfortable. I wear a 7M or W and sometimes a 7.5 depending on the pointiness of the toe, and I don't wear a heel over 1.5" any more (my feet have had enough abuse and never could do the super high heels anyway). These were comfortable the first day and have softened up with wear. I don't have much of an arch so I had little trouble getting them off. Wore to work under a skirt and was comfy all day.
I bought a 7 and found it not at all tight. If you have a narrow foot, it might be too wide.

These boots are beautiful and excellent. Every single time I wear them I get compliments, and these boots are definitely meant to last forever. I normally wear a size 8, but i ordered a half size down and got a 7.5. They are a little tough to get on at first, but my foot fits perfectly inside. I definitely recommend this boot. Frye is awesome.

Beautiful boot but a little much going on -
I was looking for a pair of boots to wear over jeans with no heel (recent foot surgery). I bought these focusing on the circumference of the top of the boot (sometimes boots are too tight). The fit over my calves was perfect but there was a bit too much going on up top that I felt made my calves look big plus I didn't think they were versatile enough. I was really torn about keeping them or returning them as I did really like the boot but opted for returning them in place of another pair that I could wear with skirts, dresses or jeans. If you have a difficult time locating boots to fit over your calves, these are perfect. They are really pretty boots but just not for me.

Sigh. I really, really wanted these boots to be *the* perfect black boots I was going to wear for years to come. Unfortunately, I had to return them and continue my quest. The problem was the ankles... way too baggy and not attractive at all! They looked very sloppy. If you are looking for something chic and sleek, you might want to look for a different boot. These seemed a bit too dowdy for me. However, thanks to Zappos once again for shipping them so quickly and having such an awesome return policy. I will continue to shop on this site until I find my dream black boots.

Such an amazing looking boot! I knew they would be the boots that I've been looking for well over a year, little pricey, but well worth it to me. I love wearing them with skinny jeans, and skirts. And since the brown is dark enough, it doesn't look out of place with my black tops. I do live on a hill, and the hike back up to my house was a bit hard for a while because they slip on the ground, but now that I've broken them in they are great!

These boots are absolutely fantastic. Chic, comfortable and timeless. I bought these as a birthday present for myself and I cannot imagine my wardrobe without them! They definitely run large, I am a solid size 9 1/2 and I had to get the 9 for the right fit. They do stretch out a little, but not too much that they slip off. Just perfect - definitely worth the price!

These are so comfy. The only problem is that they smelled so strongly when I received them - and not that nice leather smell, but more of a fishy smell - that I had to let them sit out for a few days to see if they would air out or if I should send them back. I kept them but after storing them in the box for any length, the smell is back. It's weird, but I started to think the leather might not be good quality even though I paid quite a lot for them.

I love my boots!! I brought them in brown and they are great for walking around the city stylish but comfortable. They we incredibly hard to get off for the first month or so, but now they fit great and it only takes one person to get them on and off.

Excellent walking boot -
These boots are extremely comfortable once broken in (it doesn't take long to break them in, but expect them to scrunch a bit on your ankle and heel until you do). Easy to pull on, easy to take off, and despite my high arches, I have enough support to walk for hours. These boots are also warm - I've worn them all over NYC in the now freezing weather with tights and dresses and socks and jeans and my feet are never cold (even though the leather will look a bit thin at first glance). Two notes: (1) I am a solid size 9, but I had to order a 1/2 size larger to get the fit right; and (2) the soles are a bit slick so I would suggest taking them to your local cobbler and having a rubber tread put on the front of the sole in addition to the one that is already on the heel.
