These are my go-to shoes. I am on my feet a lot all day, sometimes in 90 degree plus heat, or muck, or slick hospital floors as I travel to patients' homes in the hospice program. With arch supports and 2 pairs of socks the size 12 M fits my 11.5 narrow feet. This is my 3rd pair.

Great shoe for wide feet. Rugged terry-cloth-like material for insole keeps feet from sliding around, something a lot of sport shoe designers don't take into consideration. Good grip on gym floors due to small pattern on outsole. A well made shoe for a reasonable price! New Balance are my favorite brand yet!

With such great reviews, I purchased the shoe. The first thing I noticed was my toe hitting the end of the shoe. As for the arch support, I would say medium, definitely not excellent. Once out on the court, my feet began to hurt. The shoe was too tight and the insole provided inadequate shock absorption. Needless to say, I was disappointed. Trying to salvage the shoe, I purchased orthotics (nearly as expensive as the shoe) from the Walking Store, based on my shoe size and pressure points. It helped the cushioning, but the shoes are still too tight and contined to hurt. \r\nMy recommendations if you buy this shoe: buy at least 1/2 size up and invest in a good pair of orthotics.

I\'m on my third pair of these New Balance tennis sneakers. They are very comfortable and secure and give lots of support. New Balance sneakers are great for wide feet (8.5D) with a high instep like mine. They are true to size.

This shoe is comfortable and gives good support. My custom orthotics fit in it fine. I like the generous toe box, while the back of the shoe fits snugly around the heel. Zappos can't be beat. Your very quick delivery and easy return policy make you my only shoe source. I hate returning things, but it's bound to be part of the picture when buying items that may vary in fit. Not only is Zappos good about returns, but there is no on-line retailer of any product that I have encountered who makes it so easy to do the mechanics: a couple of key strokes, print the label and it's good to go. I gave this shoe 5 stars overall and for comfort, and also for style, because it looks like what you expect an athletic shoe to look like. It looks fine for what it is!
Other brands recommended by reviewer: Also NB 622 which is very similar.

Very comfortable; true to size. The first time I played tennis in them, they came right out of the box. No blisters afterward; didn't need to be broken in, good support.

The New Balance 654s are the best for fit (I get wide) and support in tennis shoes. I\'ve worn alot of tennis shoes and these by far provide the most comfort and stability. They hold up well. Highly recommended for the 2 to 3 times a week player.

This is my third New Balance tennis shoe and I am definitely a fan. Very comfortable, breathes well, stable, prevents me from rolling my ankle, which I am prone to doing. Does tend to wear out at the big toe, where I drag it on court when I hit forehands but other than that, it is a great shoe!

Great court shoe if you need a narrow width -
I love New Balance for tennis shoes. This is my third pair and love that they come in narrow widths. The only complaint I have is that they feel a little large in the toe box. I like the toe box to be a little roomy, but for a narrow shoe, this feels a little large and the length of the shoe feels a bit longer than their normal size 11's.

Great product -
I love New Balance for tennis. They don't need breaking in and the fit is great for a wider foot. I always get 1/2 size bigger than my normal size. A great shoe!

I wear NB shoes for all my sports - running, x-training. The price/performance is good. So I was honestly a little disappointed to see that after only 3 sets of tennis, the serving toe had a lot of wear. I don't think the wear is due to aggressive play. At my age, I get the low balls by dropping my racket head, not by bending my knees! I compared my new shoes to others' and noticed the rubber toe on my NB shoes doesn't extend up onto the toes as much as other shoes. Some other minor problems - the shoes are a little stiff. The laces that come with the shoe are about a ft too long. These shoes might be decent x-training shoes, but I can't recommend them for tennis. I'll still buy NB for my other activities but am going to shop around for a better court shoe.

Great shoe -- the 4th pair I've purchased!
Great shoe. Provides comfort and stability. Good support all around. Typically I buy a full size bigger to allow for orthotics and quick movement on the court.

I have tried other sneaker brands, but always come back to New Balance. For me, it's the perfect fit. I say stick with what fits.

I chose these shoes for walking and exercise because I have always been happy with New Balance shoes. This style appeared to have fewer seams with less possibility of irritation inside the shoe. This shoe lives up to the usual New Balance support and large toe box. What has been unusual and I don't like is how stiff these shoes are both in the soles and on the tops. It is taking quite awhile to break them in-for the soles to become more flexible and for the tops to soften. I've had to relace them a few times to get the tension right, especially to have enough tightness in the heel since I have a narrow heel (12AA). I think they will be fine in time, but I wouldn't order this particular shoe again.

Great comfort & support -
For a size 12 after foot surgery, this fit true in 12M with good stability. Very little arch support, so I added inserts. Good room in the toe and lacing holds evenly. Nice clean style, functional looking for tennis and the light blue is soft, not bright. Should be a good shoe!

New Balance WC654 did the job.
I found these to be comfortable upon first use on the tennis court. I have been suffering from heel pain and reluctant to play as often as usual. With heel gel inserts, I experienced no pain. Must buy myself a second pair.

Out-of-the-box comfort!
Comfy, well padded shoe. No break-in time required. The front part of my foot is wide, and these shoes in a regular width gave me the room I need, unlike Nike, which always seems to run narrow.

Much better -
New Balance styles WCT1003 and WCT1002, which I got from the local mall, are the "latest style" and both injured my feet by rubbing and bruising at the ankles the first time I played in each of them. I chose this style from Zappos because the area around the ankle looked more like the old style NB tennis shoes, and they are very comfortable and do not rub. I always have to buy a full size larger in NB tennis shoes.

A good buy!
New Balance has always been a dependable, no-fail shoe for me, and this one meets my expectations. However, compared to running shoes, this shoe seems VERY HEAVY and cumbersome. There is very little arch support. But on the tennis court, the shoe seems to transform, and feels altogether perfect. A sharp, great looking shoe!

NB WC654 -
I ordered this shoe for work (I'm in the healthcare prof.)....I always use the reviews to make my decisions. This shoe is a good fit and quite comfortable. There's no break-in time. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a comfortable shoe for work in hospital, med office, etc... when you're on your feet all day.

Love this shoe -
This is the 4th pair that I have purchased and used for tennis only- I have a pair for hard courts and 1 for clay courts- They wear better than other shoes that have cost more and are so comfortable--In a regular shoe I wear a 6/1/2, but in tennis shoes I always buy a 7.

True to size. I have a bunion kind of thing and the shoe box width allows plenty of room for that. No break in required-you are good to go right out of the box.

Best shoes ever!!
I love these shoes--I do aerobics four days a week--plus I have a very narrow foot--New Balance truly is the only athletic shoe I can wear. I choose the cross trainer as I get more stability than an aerobic shoe. I will order this one again and also I love the service from Zappos--they are great!!!

 | | I have told friends and family about Zappos and it was just because the service has been wonderful. As a 63 year old, I recall the super service given in the old department stores. I mourned the loss of that quality service as stores cut back, closed, went mall, outlet, superstore, online. Zappos translated that old time service to the internet, and even improved that quality service. And a young shoe store guy told me about your company. | | ~ , August 30 2009
