I bought the Taos because the Keen Newport H20, which I love, didn't work for hiking, I was always getting pebbles in the shoe. The Taos felt comfortable when I walked around my house and for the first 20 minutes of a hike. Then I got one of the worst blisters I've ever had on my heel. My hiking pal wears the same size shoe and offered to help me out by switching shoes with me. She got a bad blister within 30 minutes.

Keen + Zappos = WOW!
Ordered my shoes yesterday around noon. The UPS man was knocking at my door less than 24 hours later bearing my 2nd pair of Keen's from Zappos.
Superb fit and cute to boot! Add to that the amazing Zappos customer service and I'm one happy camper.
I bought the Taos because they have a removable insole so that I can slip my orthotics in as I do in my Keen Providence shoes. Perfect all the way around.

Hard on heels, more dayhike/jog than long trek -
The best thing about these is the wide front and supportive, well shaped insoles. I haven't found any other light hiking shoes that don't jam my pinky toes when going downhill. They're very squishy, like runners. Good traction on all trail surfaces. Felt like a very snug, comfy fit until I started climbing and the heels rubbed into blisters no matter how tight or loose I adjusted them. the whole upper is very flexible in shaping to your foot, but the heel is the least flexible part. Everyone has different shaped feet so it's hard to say if this would be a problem for others. The color is nice.

Not just a shoe, not just a shoe seller -
The adjustment potential with the amazing stretchy shoestring replacement accommodates my miserably hurting right foot. It loosens around the toe box and middle of the foot, yet can still tighten the heel, so that it doesn't slip.
Oh and here's the most amazing thing of all. I was able to obtain -- hush, are you ready for this?-- between a size 10.5 and a size 11! In womens?!!! If there are any of you out there who fall into the absolutely forbidden, long-ago banished foot size group of 10.5, I recommend the Taos as the official way to end this discrimination. While customer reviews of other Keens shoes indicate that we should buy up one size, this is not true with the TAOS, which, if anything, might even run large for the size.
So I jumped out of bed this morning and put them on to try them around the house. I had bought the fuzz in 10.5's and the Navy in 11's, and I needed to see which to keep. I put on the fuzz. My nerve-pinched, wretched foot hurt. I adjusted the stretchy band. It hurt less. I adjusted the band some more to pull in the heels. I walked around, I cleaned the floor, I took out the trash, I made breakfast, I sat down to write. I am sending back the 11's, even though in theory, the Navy might be a better color. The Fuzz is a taupe, which is fine too, and I'm not going to let go of these now.
As one customer said, there is a bit of a problem with the back of the shoe, a ridge that hits a bit lower on the back of the heel than seems proper. I'm wearing band aids to smooth this problem, and I hope it will go away with wear.
Honestly, I don't think these look all that great, but what is terrific is the way they feel. They have support, cushioning, stability, and yet they breathe. I think these may well turn out to be the best shoes I have ever had -- so long as the heel rubbing subsides.

Comfy shoe but heel slips -
I took the advice of other reviewers and ordered the shoe in a 1/2 size larger but it was too big and my heel slipped. Re-ordered the shoe in my normal size but, alas, my heel still slips. At this point I'd normally give up but since this shoe is so comfy and looks so good, I'm going to reorder it in a 1/2 size smaller. Thank God for Zappos's free shipping!!!

Turning Heads -
Great Look! People ask about it everywhere! Where with a skirt, shorts or pants/capris! Toe guard works wonders!
Only shoe on a trip - blistered cause new, and not great for lateral support or stopping on a dime, like in tennis, but ran the trails over roots and rocks nicely!
Smelly after wearing without socks, but nothing the washing machine couldn't take care of!
Thinking about getting another color as well!

New keen customer...
I felt like the shoe size is larger than normal size. I like how they feel, very good shock absorbing features. I got a blister on one heel, the first time I wore them, probably due to the fact that they are a little too big.
All in all...I like them, and I will test them out on a hiking trip soon.

Taos - Outstanding -
I am a newcomer to Keen Footwear but I've been so impressed that I already own three pairs. I need shoes with good arch support; I've had double knee surgery but I walk all day with no problems in my Keens. All my Keen styles are great but Taos is fabulous. Doesn't even feel like I'm wearing shoes. And, Zappos' shipping is outstanding--got my shoes the next day.

What a great shoe!!
I have many pairs of Keen sandals. I love the Newport, but the Taos is my absolute favorite. It is so light and comfortable, you forget you're even wearing a shoe! It fits great and the style is cute too. My only complaint is they don't make it in more colors - I would buy them all.

Another great shoe from Keen. This is my second pair and getting ready to order a pair for fall. Zappos has always been reliable, fast, and the two times I had to return a shoe that didn't fit or just felt horrible when I put it on they refunded with no hassle.THANKS ZAPPOS!

Keen is the best shoe on the market -
Another fantastic product from a great copmany. I can't say enough good stuff about KEEN, they fit my hard to fit feet very well and have been helping train to walk 60 for the Breast Cancer 3-day. I wouldn't be able to do it without these shoes. I did order a 1/2 larger then normal to wear socks, but if you go barefoot stick to your regular shoe size. Keen the best shoe, Zappos the best shoe company.

Score overall: 4.5 -
A very comfortable shoe -- I wanted a shoe that was almost sandal like but with a closed heel so that my orthotics would not slip out. I ordered a half size larger than normal to accommodate orthotics and that was a good decision.
I own Taos in both fuzzy/loden & the bison/red. As a color, fuzzy is more grey-beige in person than it appears to be on screen. Not bad, however, I expected something more beige.
One shoe of one pair did have a stitch that bothered me -- a piece of foam skin over that stitch took care of it.
I have not previously owned Keen shoes & I think a made a great choice especially since it was a leap of faith. I'd buy them again.

Perfect for work/play -
My employer requires us to wear "closed-toed" shoes, even when doing wet work on boats in the Florida summer heat. I got tired of soaking and ruining tennis shoes, and wanted more of a "sandal" look than the typical water shoe. This is the perfect compromise. I was a little nervous ordering my 6.5 size online without trying them on first, but they fit perfectly. And thanks to Zappos for their speedy delivery and customer service!

A winner!
My favorite pick from three Keens!
I had Zappos send me Newport H2, Taos and Boulder so I could compare them and pick my favorite. I was after an alternative to tennis shoes for the summer, something I could wear without socks that would breathe like a sandal and wear like an athletic shoe, plus get wet without it being a big deal.
All 3 models are waterproof, according to a label stitched to the straps, so that was good news. I rejected Newport for looks (proportions looked a bit like a clown shoe, all wide and round in the toe) and fit (back strap sort of a pain to get to lie flat and slip on over heel).
The Boulder and the Taos models feel a lot alike. Boulder definitely lets in a bit more breeze, but only a bit. Taos has a softer, more suede-like footbed, which felt a bit more absorbent to me. Boulder's footbed is more smooth, like a watershoe, and seemed inclined to make me sweat more, or feel sweat more.
Taos has the fewest openings, and the smallest openings, which I viewed as a drawback when looking at the pictures. Summer is hot and sticky and I want help, darn it. But summer is also prickly and buggy and full of small rocks and mulch, so given that they both let in a breeze pretty well, the Taos started to seem more practical to me.
Lastly, Boulder is all synthetic, and looks it. Perhaps I just like the hiking shoe look more than the running shoe look, but Boulder reminded me somewhat painfully of some moonboots I had in the 70's. Probably a personal thing-- I wouldn't want to run down any of the three Keens I tried, as they all fit great and felt supportive. I t just happens that Taos is the shoe for me.

These shoes have been on my feet since they arrived. Extremely comfortable from the git go, a truly "ventilated" shoe. Great rain or shine. Wtih or without socks. Supportive footbed. I will buy more Keen shoes.

Keen Taos -
Didn't like this one as the heel guard seems to only come halfway up my heel so my heel slips out when I walk. Might just be my feet though! If the heel were a little better I would have LOVED to keep this shoe as it seems very capable of handling rugged activities. Alas, I am sending it back and getting the Newport H2 instead.

Active sandal -
Keens are great. They outperform Tevas hands down. My only regret is not buying stock in Keens. These fit like a slipper, but perform as a running shoe. Only down side is limited color choices. The Taos fit much more true to size than the Boulders, and the Boulder looks a bit like it's crafted from molded plastic.

I love Keens and own several pairs: Seattle, Providence, Newport, Bronx Mesh - something for every season. It is obvious that I'm a big fan of Keen. These are probably the most comfy keens yet, and that's saying a lot. Super ultra cushy from the moment you set your heel on the ground. Supportive too. Something between a sneaker and a sandal. The fuzz/loden color is very nice and neutral. As with every single pair of Keens I own, order 1/2 size up from your usual size. The only other time my feet say "Ahhhhh" like this is when I put my cold toes into a pair of warm UGGs during the cold chicago winters. All I have to say is GET THESE SHOES. Oh, and Zappos rocks.

I love keen and this shoe is no exception. It runs 1/2 size larger than normal and can be adjusted to fit snug in the arch. I wear a size 8 and it would fit perfectly with a thin sock. I bought it for the heel protection, thinking river hikes, caving etc.
