Wide is not the same as fat -
When are the shoe manufacturers going to realize that wide is not the same as fat? To get a shoe that is wide in the toe box you have to have a shoe that is fat across the top of the foot and round the ankle. I'm a slim person with wide toes. The WW toe box of this shoe is adequate but the velcro tie is much too long and there is too much leather/fabric on the rest of the shoe so the shoe slobs when I walk. This indictment applies to just about every 'wide' shoe I've tried. When will 'wide' mean 'wide'?

I have the black SoftWalk Cross Townes and I found the sizing to be incorrect as well. I am a diabetic and have neuropathy. Getting a narrow shoe in size 11 is extremely difficult, but these seem shorter than 11. Though I still wear the shoes, I paid the price as both nails on my big toes turned blue. All I can do is trust the manufacturers when stating size, but because they and others offer so few choices in narrow I must decide between situations like this or going barefoot!

Very disappointed in this Softwalk shoe!
I have a 2 year old pair of Softwalk shoes which were so fantastic; unfortunately the style does not seem to be made any longer. They were a slip-on, all nubuck shoe; extremely supportive & comfortable. I read all the reviews here and noted that some people were very negative on this shoe, but thought I'd give them a try since other reviewers were positive. Well, I am definitely going to side with the negatives & I give this shoe a thumbs-down! This shoe is a whole size too small (even ordering 1/2 size larger was extremely uncomfortable for my foot); there is no side-to-side support. They just do not seem well designed for comfort or arch support and the toe box depth is very shallow. Very poor fit!!!

Cross town review -
Very comfortable shoes to walk around in-no blisters (yeah!) The only negative would be that because they are so soft there isn't much ankle support.

Size Issues -
I have 4 other pairs of SoftWalks, which I really like; but I could barely get my foot into this shoe, and I had ordered a half size larger based on review info. Re-checked size, it was correct. Other reviews say that it did later fit better, but that's too shaky for me. If it doesn't, I'm stuck with a costly shoe I can't wear. I couldn't close the strap very well, either. With thinner socks, it was better, but still very tight, though my heel pulled out as I walked. Overall a very disappointing fit. If this were the first SoftWalk I'd ever tried, it would be a deal breaker.

Run small -
Nice looking shoe, but when I received it and tried it on, it was much too small. I checked the box and the shoes just to be sure I had received the correct size. Perhaps they were mismarked, but the ones I received were a full size too small. Width was off too... a WW was more like a W.

When Reality Does Not Meet Expectations -
I was looking for a sleek, comfortable, and lightweight pair of walking shoes with good arch support. I read the reviews and thought this one is IT, but both shoes felt to me a size smaller and on narrower than marked. They aren't as sleek in person as they look on the picture - just your average almost ugly old-lady shoe that looks very unfeminine and a crossover between a gym shoe and slipper. I also think they are overpriced - the shoe that looks like this in person, should not cost as much. I am very disappointed.

I love this shoe!!!
I bought this shoe for a week long trip overseas during which I expected to do a LOT of walking. The shoes felt a bit snug the first time I put them on, even though I ordered my normal size for a comfortable fitting/walking sneaker (9 1/2 Wide). They quickly loosened up to adjust to fit my feet perfectly. These shoes are as light as air which made for extreme comfort. They were also very easy to pack without the added weight of a pair of traditional walking sneakers. The adjustable velcro closure made it convenient to put on and take off without having to tie/untie. I've received several compliments on the styling of these shoes, something I have never received in the past for a pair of sneakers. Softwalk Cross Townes are well worth the price, especially when you consider you are exchanging screaming and aching feet for a few $$s more out of your pocket.

Great walking shoes - Just wore these on a walking trip in South America and found them comfortable walking on different services and they are lightweight.

Comfortable shoes. I wore them all day the first time I wore them. The arch support could be a little better, otherwise they are great.

SoftWalk Cross Towne -
Going to Europe...I was told by my 18 year old that this was the fashion...we'll see! A bit smaller than I thought in the toes.

Not good with heavy socks -
I was looking for a shoe that would be comfortable for the amount of walking I did in my job. Unfortunately when I wore my heavy socks, there was not enough room in the toes and it felt uncomfortable.

I bought these for a trip to Egypt where I anticipated a lot of walking. I have plantar fasciitis and found these shoes very comfortable and supportive.

Comfy, sporty, casual -
I had been looking for a shoe like this for a long time. My foot is extremely wide and I can only purchase shoes on-line. I ordered an 8EE, and they were perfect from the start. I wouldn't go so far as to actually exercise in them, as they are not sturdy enough. However, I am planning on taking them on an upcoming vacation as they are light-weight and very cute!!!!

SoftWalk fashion sneaker -
These sneakers are soooooooooo comfortable. I have problems with my feet and had no pain while on vacation in Greece and Rome. It felt like I'd walked a thousand miles and my feet never hurt. They have a soft foot base and move with your feet. My only issue with the sneakers is that I take a 2A narrow and the sneaker runs wider than labeled. But they were so comfortable and pretty that I modified them myself by adding velcro to the shoe and strap and strapping them tighter. They never came undone the velcro worked like a charm. I will by the black pair.

SoftWalk Cross Towne shoes are wonderful!
When I ordered these shoes they didn't have Medium width, so I ordered wide, which I thought would be too wide, but no, they felt comfortable and I just love them. They look good with capris and pants. I even had a guy to compliment me on them. He asked where I got the shoes (that his wife would love them) and I told him Zappos, the only place to buy shoes with the best return policy you can find and the fastest service. I would advise anyone who wants a comfortable shoe to definitely buy this one. I love it.

Not recommended for high arches.
Although I really like the look of these shoes, they are definitely not made for people with high arches. If I pull the straps tightly enough to attach the velcro, I lose all feeling in my toes. And the heel slips and rubs. I do wish I had returned these before I wore them outside as the shoes are completely useless to me. My recommendation is not to buy these shoes unless you have relatively flat feet.

Bouncy -
My normal size was too small but the next size up is fine. These shoes are comfortable and provide "spring" or bounce to each step. They are not rigid like most running shoes--good for daily activities and walking. They look sporty --just like the picture.

Trendy and Comfortable Casual Shoe!
I love this shoe! It took me a couple of orders to find the right size, but I'm so happy that I kept trying. The shoe is extremely comfortable and looks great with jeans or capris. I'd recommend this to anyone who needs to have a walking/sport shoe but doesn't want the bulkiness of most athletic shoes.

I just ordered these in the other two colors because I am so crazy about my first pair. Super comfortable right from the start on my chubby little feet. SoftWalk shoes are my favorite.

SoftWalk Cross Towne -
I am very pleased with this shoe. It is comfortable, lightweight, and gives support when walking. I am especially pleased that it can be bought in narrow widths which are so hard to find in this type of shoe.

Happy feet -
These shoes are so lightweight and comfortable. I walk most of the day, and my feet are still feeling good at the end of the day. They are true to size, I have wide feet, and these fit perfect. I would recommend a larger size to accommodate socks. They are lightweight and look good. I get lots of compliments. I would definitely recommend this shoe esp. for wide feet.

Great shoe!
It's hard for me to find a closed shoe that has the support I need, is soft inside, and will stay on my heel. This one does all that. Even though it looks good, I'd have bought it anyway just because of the way it feels...

I ordered products from you on several occasions in the past and would not hesitate to continue doing so in the future. Thank you. | | ~ Michael M. , September 17 2008
