Surprised this has received such good reviews -
These shoes were too small. I wear a size 11, and these felt at least ½ size too small. Also, the insole was a real problem. It felt/looked like it was a size 10 inside of a size 11 shoe and didn't fit well inside the shoe at all. Like another reviewer pointed out, the insole isn't attached, either, so it wants to come out and doesn't sit well inside the shoe. The look of the shoe is exactly what I wanted, but the fit was so poor that I couldn't compromise just to get the look I wanted.

Great walking shoe!!
I bought this shoe to walk around Washington, D.C. for 4 days. I put them on out of the box and never felt like I had to break them in. I have horrible bunions and have a hard time finding comfortable shoes. These are wonderful!

Perfect lightweight athletic shoe -
This shoe is great if you want something you can run around town in that looks great with jeans and can still take you to the gym. I don't think it would be a good shoe for long hikes in the woods or a long run, but for gym work or walking on pavement, this is a great shoe. It's super lightweight, but has construction and support that makes it a real athletic shoe - not like the lightweight Pumas etc... and Zappos is terrific, as usual!

I wish they had been the ones!
I'm looking for some good trail running shoes so I ordered the New Balance 790s. After 5 minutes in the living room they were just a tad bit too tight around the top of the toe area - where the shoe bends. The shoe was also a bit shorter than the usual size 10. And finally, they are very, very light and this also means they have less padding in the shoe. My heels get bruised very easily so there just wasn't enough cushion for me.

The soles aren't glued in -
These are great shoes--comfy, stylish, not too clunky. I like the color combination (I got the silvery/pink ones) and wear them often. My only gripe--and I see that another reviewer pointed this out--is that the soles aren't glued in, so when you take them off, the sole comes out, too! It's really, really annoying and frustrating, because it's my only complaint with these shoes. It didn't keep me from keeping them, though.

I work at a hospital, so I'm pretty much on my feet all the time... These shoes are sooo comfy! And they look good! Can’t get any better than that!

Wonderful shoes...different fit in different colors?
I LOVE these shoes! I first ordered them in beige and couldn't believe how light and comfy they are. I hadn't realized they are slip-ons till I got them. I always order up one size in sneakers and they were perfect. The black ones are a different story...my toe is right at the end of the shoe. Order accordingly-they're great!

This shoe is so light I forget I have it on. I like the fact that it is an athletic shoe without looking big and clunky. It is more subtle than your average tennis shoe/sneaker. Great for taking walks and running errands.

I usually wear new balance, so I knew what size to order. I have a wide foot and have to wear a shoe insert. The shoes feel great. I've been looking for a shoe that I could wear with a variety of outfits. Not dressy, but not too athletic. Love the shoes. I intend on buying other colors.

Awesome shoe!
This shoe is the most comfortable everyday shoe I have ever owned. Two high points: its fabric is a mesh which breathes and the shoelaces have ridges which catch on each other so they stay tied. The knots don't loosen on their own.

Went hiking around Big Sur for 2 days straight, no problems (took the risk of bringing shoes I'd not worn before)! Great through the redwoods, cactus, sandy and rocky beaches, coves and cliffs! And cute.

Good shoe for the price.
The padding inside wasn't glued to the bottom of the shoes when I received them. There's glue on the bottom of the pad, but it apparently didn't hold despite never being worn. This causes it to move around when taking off and putting on the shoe. Attempted to glue it with crazy glue, etc but it just comes apart again. Really just an annoyance... Other than that, the shoe is great and Zappos is an awesome company to buy shoes from.

Most comfortable walking shoes I've owned -
I ordered these to do a 10-day safari in Africa. I got the beige color. I never once had any pressure points our discomfort and these were brand new shoes. I haven't tried running in them, but they worked well for walking. Nice looking too.

I ordered a half size larger than normal, per the previous reviews. I purchased this shoe to walk around Europe. It was great... except the little flap on the outside of the back of the heel gave me a blister before the trip. Overall a great, lightweight walking shoe!

I am very happy with the shoes. I usually wear an 8.5 or 9 in sneakers so I ordered the 8.5. I was worried because they were a little snug but after I wore them around the house once I realized they were a perfect fit. The ball of my foot is very wide and my heel is very narrow and these shoes are great!

WA & WR are actually different shoes!
I ordered these shoes in a wide as I wanted some lightweight running shoes. They are very comfortable but definitely not a running shoe (though they look just like the WR790 except these are all black). In trying to sort this out, I called New Balance and told them I had ordered WA/WR790 but it was clear they did not have the support of a running shoe. They told me WA and WR are actually 2 different shoes, and told me to look inside the tongue and see which I had. Sure enough printed on the inside of the tongue was WA790! New Balance informed me that only the WR790 are running shoes, and in fact they definitely DO NOT recommend you run in the WA790's; they said they are just "all around" shoes. The solid black as well as the tan and creme (the creme have little start on them and are kind of a burlap material as I ordered those too thinking they were the running ones) are the ONLY ones that come in a WIDE and they are all WA790; unfortunately the running, which are WR790, do not (the cute 2 color ones) . The cut/style of the WA's is the same, and I did decide to keep the black ones just as a general all around shoe. But I was so disappointed they don't make the running ones, WR790, in a WIDE. It would be helpful if Zappos (who by the way is the best company I have ever dealt within terms of customer service) would clarify this on their site as they are listed together as WA/WR790. Wanted to make sure any of you who are ordering the WIDE thinking you are getting a running shoe will know you are not. Other than that, it's a great lightweight, comfortable shoe for my very hard to fit foot (very wide forefront and very narrow heel).

These shoes are very light weight and comfortable! They have been great for walking and running errands. I ordered wides and I do wish they were a tad bit wider.

I bought these shoes to wear when I walk my dogs. We go on 2 mile walks daily over terrain that in some areas is rough and uneven. These shoes provide stability and comfort. I think they run true to size.

Just not the shoe for me -
I LOVE the looks of this shoe and was excited to see it in a wide width in the black. It is a great looking shoe. However, the sole was too thin and not cushy enough for my arthritic feet, so I am sending it back.

I Love This Shoe!
I'm a new runner, learning that the right shoe can make all the difference. The 790 fits my foot snug-perfectly. It’s very light and small. I was unsure how big/bulky the shoe would be from the online photo, but am pleased at how small, sleek it is. My running surface is sort of mixed media: gravel shoulder, gravel road, rutted snowmobile trail, ungroomed national forest trail. The shoe performed marvelously on all surfaces. Great for ChiRunning and recommended on that website. I ordered my usual size and find it fits perfectly.

Great looking shoe. It is pretty comfortable...could use a little more arch support. But, overall I recommend this shoe. Also, I ordered this shoe at 9:00 p.m. and got it the next morning! Zappos is such a great site to buy shoes from! I love them.

I love these shoes!!! I have always worn New Balance, but these are so light and airy that I am thinking of getting some in other colors! They do run just a bit snug. I normally wear an 8 and bought an 8 1/2 in this shoe and it fits perfectly! I bought the purple (which is really maroon) because it looked like it would match our school colors, which are maroon and gold. It was exactly what I was looking for! Try these...you'll love them!
