Felt great on my feet but killed my knees.
I wore these shoes for the first time today. I normally wear New Balance 768, but they wear out way too quickly. The 1223's felt great on my feet but about a mile into my workout, my knees began to hurt. They felt the way they do when I walk/stand for too long in "regular" shoes on concrete floors. I finished my 5 miles, but limped around for the next few hours. My feet, ankles, and hips felt great. Not sure why my knees hurt so much (they normally don't). Still looking for a better pair than the 768s.

On a positive note, I thought they were well made and seemed to have good cushioning. I sent them back because they were tight even without my Spenco orthotics. The length seemed small also. I am exchanging for 882's in hopes that the toe box is bigger than these.

Very comfortable -
I'm very happy with these shoes. They are roomy in the toe box, which is nice. I had to get a 14B whereas I normally wear a 13B -- I've noticed this with a number of the NB running shoes, other than the 992s, which I still can wear a 13B in.

Great shoe -
This is a great shoe. I am a bigger guy and was having some knee and foot issues with some other shoes. I tried these out and they have all gone away. I work out 6 days a week and feel great. The wider width is good for accommodating any heel cups or other orthotics. Cushioning is very comfortable and has held up well. Delivery was excellent as usual.

“Perfecto” shoes -
As a 6 ft., big frame, 250 lbs. guy, and avid walker/jogger suffering of plantar fasciitis, I was looking for a shoe like this for a long time. A friend, also heavy, recommended the new balance 1223. I ordered my shoes from Zappos. The shoes are a ''perfecto'' fit for me. No problem wearing my walk fit orthotics. Great shoe and of course Zappos service was also ''perfecto''!!!

Not as good as 1222s -
I have been wearing NBs since the 1221 line. I was very happy with the 1222, an excellent training shoe and great cushioning for marathons and 40-50 mile weeks. The 1223 is a lighter, more flexible shoe, but it lacks the cushioning of the 1222. I definitely feel slower with the 1223 (from right out of the box to after clocking 150 miles in them), so I don't plan on using them again. My size in the 1222s are all gone now...so I'm gonna branch off to the Asics Gel Kayano 14, since I've heard amazing things about the Kayano line...

The break in time was quick and I have used these on several runs over 10 miles. My legs, hips, and feet have never felt better. The fit is true to size, lightweight, and very comfortable. I love the feel around the top front of the foot. Snug, but not too tight.

Great!
I run 12-15 miles a week and replace shoes about every 9 months, and I keep 2 good pair at all times. This shoe is very nice, fits well, very light and cool, and looks good too.

Good running shoe for person over 200 pounds -
Good cushioning, stabilizing shoe. Works well for me and my frame, 6' 4'', 210 pounds. I'm very happy with my new pair of MR 1223.

Very comfortable shoe with great stability for bigger runners (6'2", 215 lbs). Looks are good not too flashy like some others. Zappos a life saver for me very difficult to find size 15 shoes anywhere else. Thank you Zappos!

Okay... But not as good as the 1221 -
I purchased this shoe to replace my 1221s. These shoes are comfortable however my feet will start to ache after a few hours. This was not the case with my 1221s.
Other shoes recommended by reviewer: High end New Balance.

I switched to this shoe from the ASICS Kayano. I think this shoe has more cushioning and much better stability and is about the same weight. I am very pleased with the 1223. I had left New Balance years ago, but if they continue to put out good shoes like this one, I will be a loyal customer once again. Just like I am loyal to ZAPPOS!!!

NB -1223 -
I am a heavy pronator, and these shoes have greatly improved my balance and stability. They are light, well cushioned and have a great design/look. I am very pleased with their technology and forward thinking.
