Not a very good shoe -
I wore Nike narrow sneakers for a long time but decided to try these and have regretted it. The shoes, despite being labeled as narrow, are not narrow, by any stretch, and the sizing is a half size too short. And indeed the shoe strings are too long for a narrow shoe. I'm going back to Nike and I guess these will become my grass mowing shoes.

I am a big guy and need a sturdy runner. I bought this shoe for the police academy and it can take some abuse. Its stable and my orthodics fit nicely as well.

Comfort is the key!
First pair of shoes that my feet don't hurt at the end of day. I have a high arch and the support in this shoe really makes the difference.

The best running shoe I have ever owned - First pair (green/blue/silver) came from a New Balance store for proper fit (half size larger than my normal size). When I saw this solid black version from Zappos, I had to have it. Now I wear my attractive "stealth" black running shoes to work and no one is the wiser to it! Fantastic support, great fit (highly adjustable with the N-Lock), no pain, no blisters, and the best stability shoe I have ever worn. The fact that they are so breathable means no wet, sweaty feet at the end of the walk/jog (also use a stay-dry wicking sock). I highly recommend Zappos – with their free shipping option, I received the shoes the next day! Now that is service!!!

Shoes made my feet hurt so bad I had to walk with a cane -
These shoes make my feet hit the floor flat rather than the expected roll of a walking shoe. Like a dummy I thought it was everything else other than the shoes. I never had a problem with shoes like this before and I was baffled. I went back to my old shoes and the pain went away, surprise!

I needed a shoe that would not hurt my feet. I have worn New Balance shoes for many years and when my doctor said I needed a good support shoe, I asked where he rated New Balance, "One of the best". Make sure it has stability. I chose this style hoping that it would have lots of cushion. Its ok, but I will look harder next time for more cushion.

Healthy Feet -

Great shoe - true to size. I am a big guy with Plantar Fasciitis so I need a good motion control shoe. It feels great. My only problem is when I insert the orthotics prescribed by my Podiatrist I get an annoying "shoe squeak". So if you need a great motion control shoe and you do not have orthotics, you will love this shoe.

I was feeling knee pain due to my arches falling and pronation issues. These shoes with their excellent support and pronation control have made my knees feel much better. Great shoes.

Plantar Fasciitis -
My son wears this shoe because of foot problems. It was recommended by his doctor. It is an attractive shoe and comfortable for him. Service was great and shipping was wonderful. We thank Zappos and will use them once again.

Good for heavier runners -
This is the running shoe for you. Nice support and ample cushioning. Good room in the toe box and not tight. Zappos has excellent customer service and it saves a lot of time and gas rather then running around to find the right shoe. Order 2, 3 or more pairs find the one that’s right and return the rest for a full refund no questions asked. I highly recommend this running shoe and Zappos.

Too confining...
I can never tell just by putting on a new pair of shoes and walking around the living room how they will ultimately feel. So I took a gamble when I received these shoes and went for a 7 mile walk. And I found that while the cushioning was adequate, the forefoot fit was terrible. They are too narrow and too low in the forefoot. Bottom line - when I finished my walk and took off the shoes I had a big toe and another toe that had turned black & blue just in the course of one walk. So I learned my lesson the hard way and I will probably go to the New Balance shoes that have the SL-2 lasts from now on.

Concern -
The only problem with the shoe is the eyelets are made of a cloth thin material at the top and they broke after 3 weeks. But Zappos took care of me and with their return policy you can not go wrong.

I have flat feet and the MR858 provides the stability I'm looking for. I am also using 3/4 size inserts and the fit is great. I will buy these again.

My 858s arrived within 24 hours, they fit perfectly and they helped me with problems I've been having over-pronating. They're good to run in (although I plan to try the 1123s and 587s in the future which have a roll bar on each side). Have a good day.

Good Shoes For Pronation -
I purchased these shoes as I had a case of excessive pronation... and this shoe was recommended by my physiotherapist. I love these shoes and have felt better after wearing them. These are a good choice!

Just bought a second pair of these shoes, I like to alternate shoes often. I walk around 30-35 miles weekly, not counting running. These shoes are great, a little wider in the toe box than I am use to, but still a great shoe for the money. Of course Zappos is the best, order today get them tomorrow.

Versatile, But a Running Shoe Fit -
I wear a 14EE in NB X-Trainers and a 15D in most running shoes. I ordered both sizes because this shoe was referenced as a "trainer." Despite its semi-trainer styling, this shoe is sized like a running shoe, so I kept the 15s. The shoe itself has a great look in the solid black (very small amount of silver). Unlike most solid black shoes, this does not look like a "mailman" shoe because it has some very athletic styling features. As a PE teacher I try to buy shoes as versatile as possible. The MR858 isn't as cushy as other distance running shoes that I own and isn't as laterally stable as my X-trainers, but I'd consider it a comfortable multi-purpose shoe.

Great Shoe -
Saw the 858 at a local running shop but price was $109.99 plus tax, tried them on for right size, then went home and ordered them from Zappos on Tues. The shoes arrived the next day, I took them out of the box and went out for a short 2 mile run, shoes did great. They are a little wider in the toe box than other New Balance shoes I own. I also own the 857, but they have been beat up pretty good and look sad and need replaced, but will still use them. Great shoes, but like I said, a little wider in the toe box, you can't go wrong here.
