I had been drooling over the plum suede, and decided to get them when they went on sale. Usually I am an 8.5-9; based on other reviewers' comments I would have gone with a 9, but they were out of stock so I had to go with a 9.5. I just didn't like them at all - they looked too much like 'comfort shoes' and not enough like 'stylish shoes' - I like a bit more style with my comfort! Maybe it was the extra 0.5 size, but they were also very large on my (small to medium size) calf. The suede was also a bit 'shaggy' for my taste rather than being smooth.

Gorgeous!
I bought these boots in black patent leather, and they're beautiful. However, they are VERY tight on my right calf and don't want to zip all the way up on my left calf. I don't usually have problems with boots fitting my calves, so I'd say they are either a little smaller or less stretchy than most. I am currently wearing them and hoping they'll stretch a little because I like them so much! Size-wise, I would definitely agree that they are about a 1/2 size smaller than normal; however, they are fine for me since I can often wear a 1/2 size smaller than my usual size.

Just not the one -
I got these and the La Canadienne Kara ones at the same time. The La Canadienne ones won out because they were a richer, darker black, and didn't bag around the ankle at all. The Natural Comfort ones bagged around the ankle a bit, and they weren't as dark of a black. Plus, the sole was slippery on the tile in my house, so I'd be falling down if I walked on a wet surface with these. The box was not in great shape (but the boots were), so I think a few others had also bought and returned them, which is what I'm going to do. These also run a little wider than the La Canadienne Kara.
Other shoes recommended by reviewer: La Canadienne's Kara is a great black suede boot.

Fantastic boots!
I have a very large calf by high boot standards. I can almost never find boots that I can zip up over jeans, and these lovely boots do! They have a little triangle of elastic at the top that does the trick. Theyre SO hot, and they look really classy and sexy. The "taupe" is definitely a warm grey. I live in NYC and can walk for miles in them. Excellent.

Martha from Saratoga, California -
Beautiful boot, very comfortable to walk in. Shoe is true to size, very stylish and great looking. The only problem I have is that it seems to hurt around the ankle area, I'm hoping that as soon as the boot is broken in it will not hurt around the ankle area.

Beautiful and comfortable -
These are beautiful boots with the added bonus of also being quite comfortable. I bought these in the "taupe" color. I bought a pair of boots last year also called "taupe" which were more like a medium desaturated camel or tan color. These are definitely more towards a light warm grey which is exactly what I wanted. Just remember to apply several coats of suede protectant before you wear them. The shaft fits my 13" calf perfectly at the widest part, but they don't taper in much towards the top just below the knee, so there is about a 1/4" to 1/2" gap around the top where my leg has only a 12" circumference.
Other shoes recommended by reviewer: Ecco and Sudini for dress boots with low to mid heel heights.

Jury is still out on this one...
I was very excited when I opened these boots. The heel is sexy but not death-defying, and they look more expensive than they are. However, since it is 85 degrees today (in New York in October!) and has been quite warm most other days, I have not gotten to wear them! They seem like they are going to be super-comfortable though; they have a nice cushion on the inside, and a bit of elastic give at the top of the calf (which I do not think was mentioned on the website when I purchased them.) I am very picky when it comes to my shoes, and if my feet hurt, I am miserable for the entire day, but I think these are going to be a keeper. Good work again, Zappos!
