Better, but still not back to where it needs to be -
I originally started running in Asics at the recommendation of a friend. Switching from Nike Air Max, I chose the Nimbus 3 as the first shoe and loved it. I'm 6'5", 260 and the Nimbus had tons of room in the forefoot, outstanding cushioning (I'm a underpronater despite my size and can't run in shoes for "larger" runners since most are made for overpronaters -- and they kill my knees and shins), great ventilation, and hard wearing rubber on the soles -- I'm an Army officer and run because I have to, not because I want to... but if I have to, why be uncomfortable? However, after running in the Nimbus 3/4/5, the 6 was a huge disappointment w/ the cushioning in the fore step virtually disappearing and being seriously reduced in the heel. Same w/ the 7 & 8, and I switched to the 1100/1110 before taking a chance w/ the Nimbus 9 when it came out. Shoe itself seems to be back to the old standards for wonderful ride and superior cushioning, but like previous reviewers, I developed blisters on both my insteps on the 2nd run and blisters on both heels! The heel ones never recurred after the 1st time, but the instep continually rubs my foot raw to the point that I need to run w/ a band aid on to keep it from blistering. For whatever reason, Asics chose to manufacture this shoe w/ a large seam right where most runners' instep rides. Didn't make it flat, or try to diminish it, it's just there and annoying.

Worst shoes ever - Six months later and I was still getting hotspots that cause blisters anytime I do a run over ten miles. Tread was worn flat at four months. I finally threw them in the trash.

Fantastic cushion shoe, best fit since the 7's!
I've worn three generations of the Asics Nimbus, the 8 were junk, but I fell in love with the fit of the 7's. These go back to that same fit, great cushion and positive feel to the lacing. Great training shoe, long distance comfort and even racing (a Philly 1/2 in the 7's). Hope the 10's don't disappoint. I ordered another pair of these 9's just in case!

Nimbus-9 Review -
Purchased these shoes based on reviews from other heavier runners. I am 6'1" and 220lbs. and was having some knee pain with my previous shoes. These added some much appreciated cushioning to my heavy step and are a good quality shoe. They don't breathe as well as some other shoes out there, which is why I gave them a 4 star rating on comfort.

Great Running Shoe -
This is a great shoe. I am new to running and my feet have always hurt from years of standing on concrete floors all day as a chef. I need a comfortable shoe that will take some of the impact of running off my heels and this is that shoe. I am 6'2" and 215 pounds but this shoe makes a marked difference in the way my feet feel after a run. I usually wear a 12, but next time I think I will get a 12.5. It doesn't feel like it is a quite a half size small, just under a half size. Anyway, I will be buying another pair of these when the first ones wear out.
Zappos was awesome. I got the shoes in 2 business days with free shipping. I will be buying all my shoes here from this day forward.

Best running/gym shoe -
If you're heavier and/or older, you'll appreciate the support, cushioning, and stability provided by this shoe. I'm 220# and these shoes mean I can run a 5k without feeling the pain in the knees or lower back, which means I would love them even if they didn't breathe well and look so nice.
I've been a big fan of the Gel-Nimbus since version 7, and the 9 is if anything even better.
Highly recommended!

The best running -
A great shoe. Felt immediate difference in cushion and comfort from my nimbus 8. I have been buying gel nimbus since they started making them about 9 years ago. I think it is the best running shoe available for those that need a cushion type.

What an outstanding running shoe the Nimbus 9 is.
I am 6"2 230lbs and the G-9 provides plenty of cushion to accommodate my weight. The shoe is very comfortable and true to fit.
Once again may I give Zappos all the prop's in the world. What a outstanding business you are running. Great prices, Zappos delivery, and customer service that is a 10+!

Feels good, but I'll sure be glad when/if the industry gets over this shiny chromed out look for athletic shoes. I personally think it looks absolutely STUPID!!! The only shoes that seem to give the fit, support, and cushioning I need are just to "BLING BLING". What's next? Neon lights in the soles?

Cushioning shoe -
When looking for a running shoe for actual running, there are shock absorbing shoes and cushioning shoes. For road or concrete running, you want a cushioning shoe to absorb the force. For trail running, you want a shock absorbing shoe like the New Balance Zips because the ground and dirt is already a cushion. This shoe is the most cushioned shoe I have ever run in and I have had no knee or ankle discomforts since switching from a pair of Nikes. Also, I would get shin splints on Nikes, but none in this shoe. It is extremely lightweight, but feels absolutely great. The only, and yes only, concern/problem with this shoe is the lacing. The mesh on the toe folds when lacing the bottom 2 holes, but the stiffer material around the cuff hold the laces well. However, on the tongue you will notice a hard plastic thing that says Gel Nimbus 9 on it and when you go to lace it, the laces slip off of the plastic. It doesn't make the shoe less comfortable or affect performance, but it is annoying and frustrating that such an expensive shoe would have little flaws for no reason. These are a great shoe despite and are worth every penny. I don’t know what people are talking about numb feet and not as much cushioning in the toe sole. Most cushioned shoe I have ever worn. Order this shoe a size smaller than usual!!!

Absolutely most unpleasant running experience I've had -
The shoe lacks arch support and there isn't much of anything at the front. Rear cushion is ok. I like running in these shoes as I like running in swim flippers. There is not much contact glide so the foot doesn't roll across the ground, and feels like lifting the foot during the stroke. Similar to high stepping. Have not tried them on a hot summer day yet which sometimes helps to soften things up. Had to go back to 992's until I can find the right shoe.

If it had more arch support, it would be perfect.
I have a high arch and it isn't quite enough. Zappos is a great place to buy shoes! I had to send the first pair back and got the replacement pair before I got the first ones out the door.

Good running shoe -
So far the best running shoe I've had. The heel grip is much better than other shoes. It’s not quite as much padding in the forefoot as I was expecting. I would like a shoe with a bit more heel grip, but overall it was a good buy. I'm going to read more about other varieties of Asics to see if they have one even better.

I have 50 miles on this shoe in only one week. It is very comfortable, and I have owned many good shoes before, but this one is the most comfortable and best fit.

Top-quality running shoe!
Initially, this shoe felt a bit on the tight side; though oddly, the heel for the left foot felt like it was loose. But after wearing them around the house for a day, they seemed to conform much better and felt really good!
I ran in them and felt the same - which they just needed a bit of time to "personalize" to my feet.
Very plush rebound to them, and they are extremely light.

My First Asics -
I am not a runner, but I highly recommend these shoes for people who do a lot of walking and like to have comfortable and stylish running shoes to get around in. I like the flame red, black, and onyx colors because of the dark colored mesh which I believe will be less noticeable for dirt and grime as you wear the shoe. A very breathable and supportive shoe for walking and getting around. The last shoe I wore that felt this comfortable was the Reebok Pump running shoes which was probably one of the most comfortable "walking" shoes I ever wore. I am not a fan of Nike or Adidas because I tend to find that their mesh designs do not breath as well as this Asics Gel Nimbus.

Best running shoe made -
I am 63 years old and I have been a runner for 35 years. First let me admit I am not the competitor I once was. [DAH] I have tried every running shoe on the market and some of them two or three pair. This gel nimbus shoe is the most comfortable and gives the best cushion of any shoe that has ever been on my 63 year old feet. This is my second pair and if I live to wear them out I will have another of the same. I have Hammer Toe on my left foot and have to wear a size bigger to care for it, but this shoe really is the best I have ever tried. Thanks. James B

My son is a cross country runner, and he bought these for training. I was glad to find his size (15), and they're good for neutral pronators. He got compliments on the yellow/silver/black/white color.

Excellent Running Shoe -
This is the only running shoe I'll buy; currently I’m on my seventh pair. Be warned though, this shoe is neutrally cushioned and not for everyone. Get a running store to check out your stride and see if you're an under/over pronator, if so you'll want to get something different or you'll end with painful and angry feet (note numb foot reviewer below). I've also found it takes about 30 miles or so from them to "break-in." All in all, a very solid running shoe.
