Brooks for weird feet and bad knees!
I was never a runner and found that trying to nurture this new routine was impossible with your run-of-the-mill shoes bought at a store in the mall. I am flat-footed and my feet hyper-pronate causing some knee pain as I built up mileage. At least, so said the running shoe expert at my excellent local running store. I bought a pair of Brooks' Ariels there and eventually trained up to a half-marathon in the same shoes. In a pinch, I bought a second pair from Zappos and was incredibly satisfied with the experience!

Comfy - I LOVE ZAPPOS!!! My order arrived in 2 days! I'm an avid Brooks fan. I typically wear the Trance, but having just had my 5th ankle surgery, my doctor recommended the Ariel. They do run wide and small. I wear a 12 in Trance but had to order the next size up in Ariel. Kind of clunky but very stable and my orthotics fit well into the shoe. Overall, I prefer the Trance but these serve their purpose.

These shoes give support and fit well. They do run a little smaller, so go a 1/2 size larger than normal.

I have been wearing these shoes for over 5 years. I am a heavy runner (150 lbs) with very flat feet. I have to wear an orthotic with them and they are great. I wondered if others have noticed that the shoes wear out faster than they used to. I am running less than I have in previous years (<15 miles/week) but my shoes are not lasting as long.

The best walker -
I have been wearing this shoe model for about ten years. It was recommended by my chiropractor, who said it would be the best shoe for me because 1) I have almost flat feet/very little arch, and 2) I walk a lot for exercise, about 30 miles a week. It accommodates the SMART FEET arched insole, too. I have never had ANY problems with the shoe at all, and I HAVE had difficulties with other brands of walkers in the past. I also wear it whenever I'm going to be standing for a long time, because it gives my low back, etc. the support that I need to do that. Every time I get a new pair, the first few times wearing it feel as though I am getting a foot massage, that's how big a wonderful impact the arch support has. My ONLY complaint is that it's not a very attractive shoe, but I can forgive it that for all the good it does me. FYI re: sizing, I wear a size 8 in shoes, but I always need the 8.5 with this model. I can't recommend this shoe highly enough if your foot and back issues and exercise habits are similar to mine.

Just what I was looking for -
This shoe has all the cushion and support I was looking for. I have medium arches, but I overpronate and tend to strike the ground pretty hard when I run. They look a little bit like spaceships on my feet, but well worth it for function and comfort.

Best sneaker ever -
I have ankle & knee problems due to very flat arches. I wear 2 elastic braces that support & stabilize the ankle. I almost I forget I have a problem when I wear these sneakers. I would not be able to walk as well as I do if it were not for these sneakers. Did I mention I am 73 years old? I alternate between the Ariel & Perfection during the week. My favorite is the Ariel always.

Robot shoes -
These shoes feel great but my daughter says they look like robot shoes and they do a little. Mine are different shades of silver with a dash of bright neon green.
Other shoes recommended by reviewer: I loved the New Balance 990s but they don't make the style I loved anymore.

I love these shoes; they are the only ones I can wear with my plantar fasciitis. I have to use my own orthotic though, but I still love them!

Overpronate? Problem feet? Look no more...
Over the years, I've checked out all brands and models of shoes for my overpronation and problem feet. I keep coming back to Brooks Ariel. I buy them wider (2E) and I insert my orthotic over the inner sole in the shoe. Tried one pair narrower w/out orthotic and got shin splints.
Don't expect them to look sexy or to be lightweight, but they do the job and keep me on my feet.

Just had these shoes recommended by people at ON THE RUN in San Francisco. They felt great right away. I have ITB and Achilles issues (yes I do stretch b4 and after running, thanks! and do yoga too...) and I am hoping... believing... that these shoes will help. If you've spent time and money on physical therapy, you know it's much more fun to spend on the right shoes... and keep running. By the way I took out the insoles and replaced with my Superfeet.

GREAT SHOE -
I ordered and sent back 2 pairs of NB before deciding to switch brands - SO GLAD I DID! This shoes ROCK! I have a hard time finding a comfortable shoe for my wide feet and painful bunions - this shoe was comfy from the get go. I've only had them for 3 days and I have already covered 5 miles in them, for me, that is shy of amazing! What amazed me was the insole - when I took the insole out of the NB to put in my extra foot pads, it was shallow after the heel support - flimsy - with Brooks - I almost feel out of my chair - the entire insole is thick and gel-like - - - why couldn't I have found these shoes years before?

Best running shoe I've ever used -
I just bought my third pair of these shoes. I pronate and used to have knee trouble. I run 20 miles a week with these shoes and have no problems at all. Amazing! I keep trying on other shoes, just to get some variety, and I have never found anything to match them.

Great runner for flat feet -
I've been wearing Brooks for years now. I'm flat footed, and running is especially hard on both my feet and knees. I used to wear the Addiction series; this year, I tried the Ariel. I find it to be just as good as the Addiction.

I have flat feet that lead me to suffer shin splints and stress fractures. These are the only shoes that allow me to jog. I have to wear an orthotic in them, but these are the only shoes that work for me.

Brooks Ariel 7 prescribed for my Heel Spur Pain & Pronating -
I am recovering from a total knee replacement, which sadly woke up, an existing heel spur and Achilles tendonitis. My physical therapist had me get rid of my shoes, and we replaced them with Brooks Ariel 7 sneakers. Since wearing them, I am no longer "undoing" my physical therapy, and they are supporting my foot and weight much better. Finally, less heel and Achilles pain.

Not for me...
At first I thought these were great and comfortable. But I ordered a wide and the regular was a bit tight, the wide too wide (I have a normal foot). I ended up with 1/2 a size bigger and a wide. I feel like I spent too much money on a shoe that I could easily get for much less. These fatigue my feet by the end of a couple hours, it scraped the back of my foot on a walk the other day and caused a blister. They are fraying a bit already and I've worn them 6 times. I put orthodics in them and that helps a lot. But maybe not for me...I'll be buying cheaper shoes from now on. I'll stick to my Reeboks for now.

Worth every penny -
I ordered these shoes based on the reviews and because I had suffered an ankle injury. When they arrived, I really thought they were great but then convinced myself that I could find the same quality for less money so I returned them. Went through a few other brand names that just didn't compare. Finally, I reordered them and haven't regretted spending the extra money at all. They are wonderful!

Not bad at all!
I bought this shoe in a 7.5 Wide, I usually wear a 7 wide. I'm glad I bought the 7.5, it runs a little small. Overall, it's comfortable, but I find that I'm going to have to "break them in", which will take awhile. I have flat, wide feet and the arch of any shoe bothers me, makes my feet ache. I'd definitely recommend them, especially to someone with "normal" feet!

Great shoe - super supportive -
I love my Brooks. I have been able to walk more and more comfortably than ever. I have arthritis in both knees and am usually extremely limited in the amount of time I can walk. Doing water aerobics has helped tremendously and my Ariels really do the job. I recently traveled to Savannah and Charleston and wore them every day. I was able to walk comfortably during a garden tour lasting a couple of hours as well as other sightseeing. I couldn't have done it without my Brooks Ariels.
