I have the Lula and needed more space. This has space, but the side pocket without the organizer gaps open, even with the velcro closure. It doesn't stand on its own. I find, too, that it slides from my shoulder, even when I use the shoulder strap. When you put it under your arm you can pop stuff out of the open outside pocket! It's durable, but I'm going back to my Lula!
Other shoes recommended by reviewer: The Lula if you don't want or need too much space.

I bought this tote for a trip, and it was the perfect bag. The top zipper closed completely so I had no worries when I shoved it under the airplane seat. There are a couple of small zippered pockets and places for pens and a large notebook, besides the large open area for everything else. The large shoulder strap was easy to adjust and quite comfortable. I love it! I think it may be the perfect small carry-on/tote bag!

Had never heard of these bags, but needed something shipped quickly for a new carry-on to take to the airport so looked to see what I could find on Zappos. Good looking, durable bag w/waterproof inside and lots of pockets and places to stick things. I received compliments on this from my travel companions!

Timbuk2 Cargo Tote: An excellent, multipurpose carry-along -
I bought this bag, actually, to replace a diaper bag. It's a lot more aesthetically pleasing than your average diaper bag and it provides tremendous space without being bulky. The challenge in going out with children is that you don't want to have a huge, heavy, cumbersome bag to carry, but you still need to have all of your "essentials" in tow. The only thing that I would have liked better about this bag would be if it had more in the way of internal pockets. However, it's great space, lightweight, and easy to manage. I especially like that it has the short shoulder straps AND a long strap if you want to wear it messenger-bag style to have your hands free. An excellent purchase!

Great commuter bag -
Finally, Timbuk2 is making bags in girl colors! I bought this bag in brown/pink for commuting on the bus, and I've been very pleased with it. I have a Timbuk2 messenger bag, but the Cargo Tote is a better option for commuting because it's easier to get stuff in and out of, and more comfortable to carry through crowds. It fits all the usual stuff from my purse, plus a book or magazine, PSP, tall coffee mug or water bottle, knit hat and scarf, and lunch. The bag is incredibly sturdy and well-made, yet conforms to my body nicely when carrying cross-body. It would be an excellent airplane carry-on, because it zips securely and would fit under the seat, but is still small enough to pass as a purse.
One note about size: if I add a pair of shoes to everything listed above, it's a tight fit, but still comfortable to carry. If you flip up the top zipper flaps, they extend the height of the bag by several inches. However, if I need to bring shoes often, or if I need to carry my laptop in a sleeve, I may end up going up to the larger size.

This is my third Timbuk2 bag, and all of them are incredibly well made. The only reason why this did not get 5 stars overall is that it's just a bit too big (but the small is too small). It may be that I am on the shorter side, so sometimes it feels like the bag engulfs me, but it's great for commuting - big enough for papers, book, lunch, shoes, wallet, etc. You get the picture. My favorite feature of the bag is the two pockets in the front, though. It provides easy access to the train ticket and/or the building pass, very handy when I have a cup of coffee in the other hand.
