I love these boots! I am a true size 10 and I ordered the navy Huntress in a size 9. They fit with jeans on, although I haven't tried with a sock, but it feels like it could fit with some on. The color looks great and I am so happy! My calf could barely fit in the Hunter original.

Just in time for the rainy season -
After reading the reviews, I decided to go with a slightly smaller boot size. Normally I wear 8-8 1/2 (but more on the 8 1/2 size) and I ended up getting huntress in size 39 (8). They fit prefectly with enough room tuck in my pants and wear with thicker socks. (my calves are 15 1/3). love e'm! and of course zappos customer svc was awesome and got the boots out overnight.

I just ordered these boots in green, women\'s size 6. I am 5\'3", 118 lbs with athletic calves and the Hunter Originals were way too tall for me, and too tight. These fit perfectly, just high enough that they look tall but don\'t squeeze the back of my knee when I sit, just wide enough for me to tuck my jeans in and wear thick winter socks if need be. I originally ordered the women\'s size 5 since I am normally a 6 and I read to order a full size down: they were way too tight in the foot and I could barely wear a normal sock so I had to send them back. Also, I read that they say "Huntress" on the front, but mine actually say "Hunter" just like the originals so I\'m happy about that. I am looking forward to enjoying these boots for years to come! I just wish they came in more fun colors. Also, Zappos is awesome! They sent the bigger size overnight totally for free, after I discovered the 5 was too small, so that I could compare both sizes and send back which ever pair I didn\'t want!

I original bought the regular Hunter rain boots, but they were too tight around the feet and my calves (I'm a runner, biker, etc., so I have muscular calves), so I returned them. The Huntress Model fits much better. I can now comfortably wear them over jeans. I'm normally a size 8 - 8-1/2, but I ordered a size 7 since I read they are running a size big. My toes are pretty close to the front of the boot, but otherwise they fit fine. If you're in between sizes and also planning on wearing socks thicker than standard tennis socks, I'd recommend just going a half size down to the nearest full size. I'm probably going to keep those, since it doesn't really get too cold here and I'm fine wearing thinner tennis socks with them. I only wish they would make them in some more brighter colors!

Bought these boots a while back and they are awesome! I'm short with wide calves and I really have a hard time finding anything that would fit me, so when I found these, and slid them on, I was ecstatic. I got the green huntress and they fit perfectly with jeans tucked in and all. They do run a bit big so get a size down. In addition, since this does have a wider shaft, the ankle area gets a bit roomy.

Sturdy, well-fitting boots! Note that they do run small, so be sure to order one size up. If you have extra wide feet, you may want to order two sizes up.

FINALLY!
I have struggled for years having a larger calf size and have finally found a boot that fits! I can not believe how wonderful they are! I placed my order at 8:30pm and had the boots by 11:30am the next day! Zappos you are awesome! Thank you so much!

Great boot, road tested! I bought this boot in early June and decided to road-test it first before I posted a review. I have nothing but wonderful reviews on this rain boot. I did read that the normal Hunters were narrow in the calf area, which would pose a problem if you want to tuck in pants that are not cigarette pants. I like to wear boot-cut jeans, so the extra space in the shaft was extra useful. Also, being only 5'2", the shaft height was just enough so it does not jut out too high and bite into the area behind your knee when you're walking or crouching down. I did notice that they tend to fall off the leg, but with good wellie socks they stay on okay (LL Bean sells nice socks; the ones by Hunter are way too long for this boot). Also, these boots are wide by default. I wear a wide width and initially thought these boots would be a tight fit, but they are wonderfully roomy.

So, I have big calves (16.5) and regular rain boots fit nice until it gets to my calves. I decided to try the Huntress collection from Hunter. I received them today and they did fit around my calves (and with Jeans it was tight), but since they are a much wider boot than the original, they were huge below my calves. It looked really weird. From my ankle to the bottom of my calf my leg is normal, so all that extra space from the boot looked weird. I usually wear a size 8 so I ordered the 39 (8 in US Ladies); it was too big as far as feet size goes. I'm exchanging them for the Original Short, I have read the reviews and hope that since it is shorter it will fit great. I will leave a review for the Original Short as soon as I get them. Hope this helps, to anyone who is in the same position as me.

I bought these for my daughter who will be attending college in Illinois. It will be cold there and probably wet. So we purchased the liners to wear with wool socks to keep her feet warm. We bought these Wellies because the shaft is wider and we both have larger calves. It usually is hard for us to find boots to fit. These boots have plenty of room to tuck in jeans even with the liners. They are so cute and will serve her well!

Absolutely love the boots. I'm only 5'2" and the boots are a little shorter so they sit under my knees. They are wide enough to put jeans in them. I usually wear a 4.5 or 5 shoe, and these fit pretty well with a thick pair of socks.

Well, I bought them to keep the water away from my feet, and they certainly do that. The calves are wider than other Hunter boots I\'ve tried, so they fit well. The boots do slide up and down a bit when I walk, which is a little annoying. I wear knee socks with them so they don\'t rub my legs or heels.

These Hunter boots are amazing. I originally ordered the Hunter Original rain boot, but found that the calf circumference was way too tight. Zappos\'s wonderful customer service exchanged these boots for the Huntress boots with no problems and shipped them out to me next day no charge. The Huntress fits me perfectly (I have a 15 1/2 inch calf) with just enough room to tuck in my pants. They look great if a little baggy at the ankle. I was worried they would hit me too low on the shins (I am 5\'7), but they look fine. Really happy with my purchase and they will come in handy during Michigan winters! Thanks Zappos!

Okay, I have not actually worn these yet since I ordered them in the summer, but I think they'll be great for fall/winter/spring. I actually ordered the Huntress in Black in an 8 first (I usually wear and 8 1/2), and then got the green in a 7 to compare sizes, with the intention of returning one of them. The 8 was slightly big, but I knew that with thicker socks and maybe a liner/insole they'd be good. The 7 actually fit with just regular socks if it wasn't so cold outside, plus I ended up loving the green. I just couldn't make up my mind, so I kept both of them! They're very comfortable and fit well, as well as being a classic. Zappos rocks, I'm so happy with the service, and the free shipping and returns is a guarantee that I will always order from them over another company!

Usually, I wear size 8.5, so I ordered size 8 and it is still a little big but not too bothersome. The calf part is quite big, usually, I have to get boots for wide-calves as I run, but not for these. As an advice, one could order at least a full size down, so if you are an 8 or 8.5, you may be able to fit in a 7.

Hunter Huntress...lovely boots! Excellent for wide calves! Female. 5'10. 165 lbs. 9/10 shoe. I have "wide" calves. I recently moved to Chicago. When I started researching rain boots I always came back to Hunter. I have a hard time finding boots that will fit my calves with my jeans. THESE DO. I originally ordered the men's version, those fit snug on my calves. Couldn't really get my jeans in the boot. I returned them with NO problem. So I ordered the Huntress just for fun...and they fit! Like a charm! Couldn't believe it! I want to say (I think) the Hunter Huntress fit because the "shaft" height is shorter then the Original Hunter version (both men's and women's). They really do run a size large so order down a size! The only thing is that the color selection is limited on the Huntress but its fine, I love black! I'm really excited for my boots. I hope others find this review helpful and find what they are looking for. Zappos is really great. Love my wellies!

Wide calf rain boots - I'm 5'5" with short (ish legs), 16.5" calves (around the widest part), and wear a size 9 shoe. I bought the 40/41. The boots *just* fit around the widest part of my calves. It gets a little snug around there and causes the fit around the ankle to look a little bunchy and loose, but the rubber is very flexible so it's not uncomfortable. Socks are a must since the footbed is also roomy, but in terms of where my toe is in the toe bed, it's a good fit. I wear a true size 9, never an 8.5 or 9.5. I won't be able to tuck pants in, but plan to cuff my pants up to the top of the boot. I bought these with the plan to return if they didn't work (boots rarely ever fit my legs), but these are a keeper. Will be wearing them to a music festival in England and I think the height of the shaft plus the fact that my calves make these air-tight at the top (eek!), they'll do a great job to keep the mud and moisture out. Another rain boot I tried that fit my calves well was by Sperry Topsider. They were mid-calf height, but they developed a tear on the seam between the sole and the boot so I'm trying Hunter this time.

Love 'em -
I wear a Euro 38, US 7.5. I bought the 38 and they are just fine. They have room to tuck in my jeans when I am out in the fields with my dogs. They are also great to wear to wet spring soccer games. Spring in Ohio can still be cold. I would suggest the liners, even with wool socks I did get cold. I love my Hunters and plan to get the liners for them. They do have a little extra room in them for the heavier socks and the liners...

Love, love, love these boots!!! After reading the reviews on both the Huntress and the Original boots, I decided to heed the advice and go with the Huntress for the extra room around the calf, and to make sure I could tuck my jeans into the boots (I'm 5'3" and 118 pounds) I also took the advice and ordered a size down, as everyone said they run large. The smaller size fit perfectly, with plenty of room for thicker socks, if necessary. I bought these for a trip to Ireland and wore them every day, they're extremely comfortable - plus they're super cute!!!

Good as expected -
I wear a 9 and ordered a 9; perfect for thick socks as everyone else says. Athletic calves fit well. The thing is that my husband snickered when he saw the "Huntress" logo on the front. It might as well have said Tigress or Cougar or something. Whatever though. Then I ordered some Hunter welly warmers (socks), figuring I could fold them down and have the Hunter logo showing. BUT of course those socks were about 3 inches too tall, so I took them apart at the ankle seams, cut the fabric and will re-sew them so they are shorter. Lots of work for socks that are already really expensive. It would be nice if they just put Hunter on the front instead (although the socks are very cozy.) Or maybe make different socks for the Huntress version.

I first ordered the Hunter Original Boot in a women's size 7...I'm 5'6, weigh 135lbs, wear a 7.5 shoe and would say I have an "average" calf size. The Hunter Originals fit my foot PERFECTLY (even tried on w/ wool socks) and the boots look great, however there was no room to tuck jeans or pants in. These boots would be perfect to wear with a jean skirt or shorts. That said, I want to get a lot of use out of the boots so I ordered the "Huntress" to test those out. MUCH wider around the calf and jeans/pants/tights fit perfectly under the boot. I again order the 7 (being a 7.5) and there's even a little room to spare. I'm going to keep the Huntress and return the Originals, just to get a lot of use out of these boots. Huntress also look more like a "rain boot" whereas the Originals look like a sleek boot. Wish I could afford to keep both! Zappos delivery is super quick too!

Very comfortable. Runs big. I wear a 6.5-7 in a casual or running shoe. I wear a 5.5-6 in a dress shoe. I needed the womens 5 in this boot. And theres still plenty of room to wear a thick pair of socks with it if I wanted. I chose this style over the original because I am short, 4'11, and the original came up to the back of my knee and was uncomfortable. I also found the original to be too narrow in the shaft. This boot solves these problems for me. I highly recommend. I ordered black and it did come with some white markings on the boot but they wipe off so don't worry. This is my first pair of Hunters but they seem like a very heavy duty, quality shoe. Definitely order down if you are between sizes, and a full size down if you are at an even size.

I love this style. I wish they were as long as the original hunter boot, but otherwise I am thrilled with the purchase. They are wider in the calf than the original, which is a huge plus as I can tuck my pants into them. Also bought the wellie socks Hunter makes- they go perfectly with the boots.

 | | Dear Zappos Customer Service People, I just wanted to let you know that I think you are the best company to deal with, bar none! I just got off the phone with one of your customer service agents, and she was unfailingly helpful and nice. That's in addition to your great online service and quick shipping, and your great selection of shoes. I have a size 16-17, and it is very hard for me to find shoes anywhere, even on many online stores. You guys do a great job, and I appreciate you. Best wishes, Bill P. | | ~ Bill P., October 19 2009
