I love my Dr. Martens cherry boots. Every time I go out I get comments on them and they look great with a skirt or a dress. But, they are so uncomfortable! I think the reason is because the leather is really really hard and stiff. I wore them for a couple of hours and I had 3 wounds on my feet (two on my ankle and one on the side of my foot). It's not that the boot is too small, it fits perfectly; it's the contact with the hard leather. What I'm doing right now is wearing them with a couple of silicone bandages to prevent the rubbing against my skin. Hopefully the leather will become softer with time!

Ouch. The leather in these are too stiff. They are just painful. With a zipper and laces you'd think the fit would be adjustable, but somehow they are baggy in the ankle. Sadly I will have to return these.

Love my Docs! However, I am a true size 7.5 so I assumed to buy an 8 whenever shoes don't have half sizes. I feel like these run a little big and I can probably fit a 7. I think I'm going to buy the same pair in a 7 now.

I love these boots, you can always count on Dr. Martens to be comfortable. I wish they came in half sizes since I'm a true 6 1/2, but I got the 6 and once they were broken in they were great. Very happy with this purchase!

Love these boots, took forever (like, a year!) to break-in, no lie. And the laces barely made it to the top, because I have large-ish calves. I'm short (5'2"), and these just hit under my knees. But once-broken in, they're very comfortable & warm. Great for the cold snowy winters. Give my outfits a rockin' edge. Sexy, fierce. Awesome.

These boots take a long time to break in, but are sexy and durable. I love the grips on the bottom of the boots; that's hard to get in a ladies' boot.

Should have bought these 20 years ago! Making up for lost time. The leather is amazing, very high quality. Going to take some time to break these puppies in properly. I have a size 9-9.5 foot, but have a very high instep, so always need a 10 in boots. These fit a little bit big, but just as I expected. Very small issues to solve with socks or gel inserts. The most room is around the back of the heel, as others have reported. I love these boots so much I had to buy an ankle pair as well. It's never too late to have cool shoes!

Love these boots! After buying the same pair in bronze, I got these in black.They are the perfect fit and super comfortable. Doc Martens are the only boots I buy; they are really affordable considering they last at least 10 years and never go out of style.

I wear these boots for every occasion, even for fancy high end times. I have these on nearly every day for the past two years, and they'll live for another three. Fair warning: these boots are difficult to break in and it takes a long while, so be prepared to make your heels suffer for a little while.

The Doc Martens boots are gorgeous, tough, and fit perfectly right out of the box. They are quite roomy in the foot. I am a true size eight lengthwise, but a bit wider than average with a higher instep. They are snug but not too tight in the ankle and calf (I have long, somewhat muscular legs). I am delighted with both the look and feel. Zappos delivery is expedient as usual.

I read all the reviews before deciding on these boots. I was looking for a knee boot. I have to agree with the review from Jill B. in Akron, Ohio. They do run a little big, as I had to go down one size from my normal size. I got the black smooth. They will be great for casual or dressing up a little. I have not had a chance to wear them yet, but I think they are going to be my do not leave home without them boots this winter! They have great tread for the snow! I was also worried about these boots being a look for the younger generation. Not at all ladies! I am 40 year old mom of a toddler! Go for it and enjoy these boots!!

These boots are fabulous! Especially the cherry red kind. I bought both the black and the red because I love them so much. I go to college up north where we get 4-6 feet of snow in the winter, so these should be perfect to keep my toes happy! Easy zipper on the side also means that you don\'t have to lace them up every time you wear them.

Yay! Zappos came through with flying colours and delivered my beloved Docs in time for Burning Man, they fit like a glove and despite having only two days to wear them in, they were comfortable on the playa. Now I'm back in the real world, I'm going to condition the leather to make it nice and soft. Thank you, Zappos

The boots were bought as a birthday present for my daughter. They fit perfectly, which was a very pleasant surprise because she normally has a hard time finding shoes or boots. Maybe it's because she could adjust the lacing for support, but they worked well even though her feet are rather flat. She had never tried on Dr. Martens before, so we just took a chance because of Zappos amazing return policy. Great experience.

Impossible! How did they get here in a few hours? I ordered these boots after 6pm last night, and they arrived before lunch at my office today. That's impossible! I'm extremely pleased with the service and the boots; they're Docs so of course they're great. I didn't know what size to get (I'm a US 8 1/2) so I ordered UK 6, rather then UK 7, which I've tried before and was too big. They are a perfect fit, which might be problem for thick socks, but once they're broken in I'm sure they'll be ok. The "black smooth" color is nice, dressy even, as I plan to wear these to work.

Great looking boots! If only they came in half sizes...
I love these boots, but I really wish that they came in half sizes. I tried them in two different sizes, and ended up deciding to go with the slightly large boots because the smaller ones were too tight when I tried them on (they pinched, ouch). The larger boots rub a little in the heel, but I am planning to buy inserts.

I love these boots -
It's a little time consuming to put them on because I have to loosen the laces to get the zipper up over my larger than average calf. Once zipped, these boots are really comfortable. They don't look great with any of my boot cut or flared jeans because the boot creates a bulge in the pant legs, but I love them with short skirts. Shipping was fast and perfect. I'm very happy with these boots and would recommend. I've walked a few miles in them already with minimal pain and wear and tear.

Docs for biking -
Wanted motorcycle boots I could walk in and while these don't have the extra ankle protection I'd like, they are very comfortable for all day wear. I added Keens insoles for better foot support and they are fine for walking a couple of miles. The lacing makes them fit well and the zipper facilitates a quick on/off. Adding SnoSeal made them waterproof.

My dream boots!
I'm a bartender and I needed something tough, sexy and comfortable to be running around in at all hours of the night. I always knew I needn't look any further than the gorgeous Doc Martens of my wildest dreams.
Just a note to any kindred spirits thinking about making this investment: don't let the first week freak you out, it’s horrible to break them in (especially at the ankle), but after a couple lengthy wears it's COMPLETELY worth it! Let them mold to you and if your relationship is anything like mine, you'll be inseparable in no time!
