First of all, the bag is very sturdy; the nylon doesn't fray and the bottom doesn't wear out. It's also decently water resistant because there's only the one external zipper. The part that makes contact with your back is molded foam; I've been using the bag for months now, and it hasn't collapsed at all. Now, about those shoulder straps. Structurally, there's nothing wrong with them, but the item description includes a stretch-mesh iPod or cellphone holder. No. It's stretchy, and it's mesh, but a gadget-holder it is not. They're asymmetrical and not grippy at all, so your stuff is liable to slip out when you lean forward or while you're taking off the bag. As per other reviews, the fact that there's only one dedicated compartment inside (laptop sleeve), plus the depth of the bag makes it difficult to access the contents quickly, and things get lost at the bottom.

I really like this bag. It\'s not your typical backpack that hauls everything. It\'s narrow and deep, perfect for the files I lug from office to office. I like the laptop pocket too. I don\'t carry one but it looks quite suitable for the task. I put my newspaper in there. It does not have a bunch of pockets, so it\'s good for someone who carries a purse. I think it\'s light, sturdy enough, and quite sleek in design. Good bag for the middleaged woman who\'s tired of the giant backpack designed for hauling textbooks and gym clothes.

Strange but well made backpack -
I bought this loving Keen shoes. We have at least 4 pair in the house. The quality of this bag is incredible. Very very well made. My problem with it is its kinda long and thin shaped. It's kinda like you have to crawl into the bag to get the stuff on the bottom and many things end up in the bottom as there aren't a lot of pockets. Beautiful bag just not functional for me. I'm a guy and I wanted it for a commuter type bag, to bring my stuff to and from work. (Book, glucose meter, ipod, headphones, gum, lunch...that kind of stuff) I got the white one and it was a little darker than the picture appears to be, still nice though. I ended up returning it for the Overland Equipment-Boulder. Very happy with the new bag!
