This is an attractive boot and the quality of the leather is very good. It was not, however, a good choice for me. In terms of comfort, it is narrow in width, both in the shoe and the calf. I have a wide foot. While I can wear it, I can only wear it with thinner socks or tights. It is tight in the calf area. I was disappointed to see that the heels began to show wear with just a couple wearings. Given the cost of this boot, that should not be the case. It does the job as far as being waterproof, but does not have the traction I had wanted on icy or snowy days. I am wearing it when I want a dressier look, but find I still go back to my old boots on days when comfort is my main concern.

This stylish boot is exceptionally well made. I was very pleased when I opened the box! However, the heels are narrow. I've never had a problem with any footwear fitting my heels and usually need a wide for toe-wiggle room. These boots were roomy for toes, but extremely uncomfortable. I am very disappointed as I absolutely loved the style.
Other brands recommended by reviewer: I purchased the USA made Munro boots and will need to waterproof them myself.

They're here and they're amazing. Thanks Zappos for the overnight shipping. Right out of the box they fit so comfortably. I've been looking for a great dress boot with a vintage style that could be worn with pants or a skirt and these are it. Very soft and comfy. Nice low heel and great no-skid sole. I may have to get these in brown. Also, someone's review mentions that the scalloped detailing will lift after a while. What I've done in the past to prevent a similar issue is use an old pair of tights or nylons, cut off the toe and slip them over the boots from the top down to the toe to keep the detailing pressed down. Works like a charm.

Love them! I am tall and hate wearing heels. These don\'t hurt my feel, feel comfy and look great. I wore them straight out of the box during a long day of travel, and my feet felt fine at the end of the day. I\'ve had many compliments on them too.

I was having bad leg and back pain for a while. I have never wanted to go for the expensive boot. My mother-in-law talked me into "investing" into good quality shoes. But, wow can I tell the difference. I can wear these boots all day long. and my feet, legs and back do not hurt. Whereas in my other shoes I would hurt of pain and tiredness within hours of wearing them. I have two of these boots in black and brown! They are worth the money. The leather is amazingly beautiful and soft. But the comfort is the main reason for my purchase! Very satisfied!

These are just as comfortable as everyone says! I wore them for an entire day out of the box and was shocked. Didn\\\'t need any time to break them in. Plus I can wear them on my one-mile walk to the metro, all day and then walk home. Yay! I\\\'m usually a 8.5 but sometimes take a 8 in boots. 8.5 was perfect for these.

These boots are my go-to footwear nearly every day. They are incredibly comfortable for lots of walking around. Like most La Canadienne boots, the calves are narrow. These boots look better under jeans than over them. The leather is gorgeous. You'll be shocked that leather this soft and supple could actually be waterproof, but they haven't let me down. The only minor complaint I have is that the scalloped detailing over the front of the foot tends to turn up rather than lying flat against the foot of the boot.

I love these boots! I wear them with dresses and dress pants and jeans. They've taken about 6 wearings to finally feel great all day long. (I walk a mile+ during my work day.) I feel confident they'll hold their own during a Montana winter or two. I'll definitely check out other La Canadienne footwear when I'm in the market!

I bought these boots in the brown neptune 5 years ago and it was the best money ever spent..warm and super comfortable and an excellent grip on the bottom for the slippery conditions we often get here in the winter. If you\'re looking for an excellent leather boot this is the one!

I waited and waited for these boots to go on sale and finally got them for $100. They are worth every penny! I absolutely love them! I wish I had them in black too. The leather is soft and beautiful. I would never try to wear these in the rain or snow, but If I did I am sure they would be just fine.

Gorgeous, unique, comfy, and waterproof too! I love these boots! They felt perfectly true to size, and needed no breaking in.

Too tight around the calf -
These boots are too cute. But the calf was too tight. They would be perfect if the calf area was bigger. My calves are not very large - so be warned.

These boots are gorgeous and waterproof--it's hard to ask for more! The brown is particularly beautiful, and I think compliments the vintage-y look of the boot nicely. These are great for people with large calves (like me) as they are wider in the calf to begin with and then will stretch if needed. They are not wide in the ankle though, so they are more for curvy legs rather than legs that are thick all the way through. My one complaint is that there isn't much padding in the bottom, so the balls of my feet can get a bit sore if I wear them on days I do a lot of walking--I may try the pads others have recommended. Got my regular size (9), which fit fine.

These boots were adorable and seemed comfortable (at least walking around my house), but unfortunately the shaft of the leg was too wide for my calves. I have skinny legs, and although theres the appearance of a sort of tie at the top of these boots that might lead you to believe theres some ability to adjust their width, its only decorative (maybe it could be loosened, I didnt notice... but certainly it cant be tightened). Id be willing to put up with a boot that didnt fit perfectly - not their fault my calf muscles dont bulk up - but there was a serious gap... to the degree that I looked like a little kid wearing my moms big boots in a skirt, and even with my jeans tucked into them, they still looked sloppy. If you have average sized legs, Im sure these boots will be fine, but if you have skinny ones like me, keep searching!

Great fit, style comfort -
I found these boots at a high-end department store Oct 2008. I couldn't afford them at the time, and when I returned to purchase them in February 2009, they were sold out. :-( I should have known because for the first time in years they fit me great! No skin squeezing at the top on my calf, minimal ankle bunching, full leather, and waterproof??? They really were the PERFECT BOOT! I should invest in a brown pair, too...

Hard to Believe Boots Can Be This Good -
I, like many other reviewers, at first balked at the high price of these boots. But no more! I have had my pair of Tahras for a year now, and have worn them again and again in the slush of northern Ohio. Salt marks from the salty slush here just wipe right off and the boots look great. They are waterproof, too. The icing on the cake of course is the style of the boots--I love the trim on the front and top, and the heel is just high enough to look dressy without making the boots hard to wear. I don't wear heels normally, but these boots are not a problem for me. I have the brown ones, and just ordered the black ones too! Crazy? Perhaps. But after a year of testing my first pair, I can say they're worth the money. I haven't been so enthusiastic about a pair of boots in I don't know when. Maybe never!

Random Compliments -
I've had these boots for 2.5 years now (they've held up beautifully). I love the fit and the heel is just perfect for wearing to work (even though I'm on my feet a bit). The reason I'm writing this, however, is because I get random compliments on these boots CONSTANTLY. Everyone loves them and so do I!

Great boot!
I've been wanting a stylish, reliable rain boot for such a long time. I followed the advice of the other reviewers and ordered a 1/2 size up. That was a great choice for me! (Corns and bunions = need for roomier toe box.) They are mondo-soft! Easy to walk in, all day friendly, and unique in styling. They were easy on the toes, easy on the heels, fabulous! For we of generous calf, I just barely got them to zip, but they did stretch and fit nicely now.

They fit!
I ordered these about three weeks ago; they are so comfortable I've worn them to work all day almost every day! They were comfortable right out of the box. I'm 5'2" and they come up to about two inches below the bottom of my kneecap. Also, I have pretty large calves, and these were a little tight at the very top on the first day, but have loosened up nicely. The heel is a nice height for every day, and it's wide enough to feel stable. I'm hoping we get some rain here in the Bay Area, so I can test out their waterproof claim.

Comfortable...
Very cute and comfortable boot. The leather is very soft, and with a bit of effort I was able to get this boot done up over my larger calves. Only complaint is the boot does not go up to the knee. It is a couple of inches lower and hits right at the part of the calf that makes you look larger than you really are. Also tends to slip a bit during the day.

The perfect boot -
These are the perfect boots! I tried so many boots, even bought several and brought them home, but they were never quite right for my needs. These look great with everything from jeans to dresses, and for any occasion. They are extremely comfortable--can be worn all day at work (on my feet) and into the evening. They look great peeking out of long jeans, and also with knee-length skirts and dresses. The leather is so soft, and the detailing is beautiful. i plan to buy them in black as well.

Wonderful boots - I ordered these boots in brown size 7. These boots look amazing with pants, skirts and dresses. Very comfortable, the leather is very soft. It feels like a "glove."
