Horrendous looking/equally durable - This is by far the ugliest pair of shoes I've ever had on my feet. That said, they are one of the most durable, comfortable (right out of the box) and supportive shoes I've ever worn. I have an ankle issue from an old injury and the support in these shoes is incredible.

Great shoe!
The best shoe I've used when going down or up rough, loose trails. Some innovative comfort features that make a big, positive difference on long, multi-hour runs. Does it all.

Not for sensitive feet!
I tried this shoe on a whim, having run in Montrail's Continental Divide since they first came out. Big mistake. These shoes are stiffer, like the Hardrocks. They need about 20 miles to break in. They will do, but for the price the Cont Divide is a more comfortable shoe, and I won't buy these again. Zappos, on the other hand, was fantastic. I ordered these shoes early on a Saturday afternoon and they arrived around noon on Monday. They're the best.

Nice shoe, terrible sole -
I like this shoe, it's got the supportive heel and mid-foot of the Hardrock, but a little more flexibility in the toe. I bought it as a shoe to wear on long trail runs to avoid foot fatigue/strain and it would be really well suited for that purpose EXCEPT I've had them for only 3 weeks, only 60 miles on them and the tread is falling off. I will be returning them and will not buy another pair until the tread is changed.

Summer Fun -
I was knocked out by the bright Orange and Yellow of these kickers. They are very comfy/cushy with lots of stability and support. Light and airy for summer FUN!

Runs small -
Received these today. My first observation was that the box was completely empty of any tags, labels, or even tissue paper. Not sure if this is how Montrail packages them or if the pair I received was previously purchased and then returned. The shoes did not appear to be worn outside, however.
The sizing on these is small. I used to wear a size 11 Montrail I had the Diablo's, the Masai, and the Hardrock all in 11. I ordered these in a size 12 because I wanted the extra toe room - they are too small. If a 12.5 is available in this shoe, that would work, but I think the 13 might be too big. Otherwise, the shoe is very cool looking; I purchased the blue version. I did notice that the toe curves upwards but that didn't seem like a problem. The shoe is a little stiff in the forefoot, perhaps attributed to the use of only one flex-groove.
Due to sizing, these will go back to Zappos.

 | | I received a pair of boots a couple of days ago from Zappos.com and love them! I love Zappos and the people behind the scenes. I had a situation regarding a pair I needed for my daughters prom back in May and the staff was TERRIFIC, ready to help and satisfy. We received the high heels for my daughter, who is very picky! Loved the shoes, it all worked out well. I am in the process of ordering extra EEE shoes for my husband, dress shoes. Yes, I found all kinds to choose from. I am very excited, in fact, I am ordering this afternoon. Thank you Zappos!!! | | ~ Dawn W. , September 07 2008
