The shoe also was initially very stiff when I first began to wear it. After about 7 hours of wearing, it seems to be breaking in and they are turning out be to very comfortable. I think the heel may be cut unevenly, because there are two distinct levels of step in the heel. However, the look is unrivaled.

Elf-like upturned toe - avoid it -
I ordered two pairs, thinking they were similar to the discontinued Bostonian Strada. The workmanship seems fine but the look is terrible: the toe is very noticeably turned up, evoking the shoes of Santa's Elves. The toe is nearly an inch off a level surface. Bizarre. The picture here doesn't do it justice. I suppose this would be comfortable for doing a lot of walking -- there's a built in rocking motion -- but the result is something that really looks odd, and not at all like a dress shoe. I'll buy another Bostonian shoe but I'm sending these back.

Nice shoe -
I'm satisfied with this shoe. The style and size ordered are good. I feel just a slight binding in the instep when I tried them on, but I figure as they break in they will ease and conform to my foot.

The shoes are comfortable and they look really good; however, they squeak a lot until they are broken in. Expect to walk around with squeaky shoes for a week or two.

Looks good but clacks too much - I tried these shoes on because they looked pretty. The price was good, half the price of shoes I normally buy, and I liked the style. I have slightly wide feet, which limits the styles I can wear comfortably for long periods of time. I found the sole to be too inflexible, and from walking in them it was clear that a long period of breaking-in was ahead of me. There was little by way of arch support. So despite the style, I chose a pair that cost twice as much but was more comfortable.

Zappos Customer Service -
I had not been comfortable making purchases on-line but for Christmas, my son asked me to order a pair of shoes he saw on Zappos. My son lives in Washington D.C. and received the shoes but didn't especially care for them. He didn't tell me, however, until I came for a visit in May! To my surprise, Zappos exchanged the shoes for another pair of Bostonians with ABSOLUTELY NO TROUBLE!!! I was amazed not only at their courteous sales people but the speed with which they handled it. There was even a slight credit adjustment made to my Visa. All in all, I would HIGHLY recommend using Zappos...they are a wonderful company to use!

Love the shoes and loved the service from Zappos. I ordered them on a Saturday morning and somehow received my shoes on Monday.

 |  | Didn’t know where to send a note to the full staff so I’m putting it here. I haven’t shopped Zappos for a few years (how many Birkies can one gal wear at a time)! I’ve hunted and hunted for boots. Not much call for tall boots in the Phoenix area, but the styles changed this year so I wanted to get with it. I hate going to stores so I tried the internet, thought I found gold, but ended up returning because they were too loose or too tall or too short. The light bulb went off and I came back to Zappos and they had calf and height measurements listed - what a brilliant idea!!! I found black suede and grey leather and I had them at my front door a day later! How much better could it get: both pairs fit!!! Please post this for all employees so they can know their efforts are very much appreciated... you all could teach the rest of the corporate world how it should be done.
