I wrote a very similar review of the Mezlan Lepanto shoe, so if this review seems familiar to you that's why. Because of an injury I have some bones in my foot that protrude downward. To avoid wearing orthotics (I have them and hate them) it is difficult to find comfortable shoes that also look good. I have several pairs of Ecco shoes and though they are comfortable, they are not as comfortable as the Mephisto Gaham shoe is for me. This is also a great looking shoe - personally, I would never wear it with jeans. I have the chestnut (I think) and love the color. It is also important to me that a shoe breathe well and not make my feet sweat a lot indoors and then freeze them when I go outside in cold weather. On this point the Mephisto also shines. I wish I could tell you that these shoes are long-lasting, but I've only had them a few months now, but they sure do seem to be very well-made! I also have a few pairs of Mezlan Lepanto shoes which are just as comfortable as the Mephisto shoes are for me, and they do cost less and look dressier. But their selections are considerably less than with Mephisto. Mephisto has a nice plan for refurbishing their shoes which will undoubtedly extend their quality and durability. The Mephisto Gaham runs wide, but not too wide for me. I just got their medium and love it. They do run a half-size long too. In the Mezlan Lepanto it took an 8.5 M (normal for me) but it took an 8 M in the Mephisto and it feels a little wider than the Mezlan shoe. I tried on a Mephisto Phoebus and it took an 8 Narrow - you never know nowadays. You know, I really hate that I feel the need to be anonymous in these reviews because I would love to talk to people in person about them, but we all know how important anonymity is on the internet these days...And I am so appreciative of Zappos because it makes it possible for me to try on so many different shoes so that I can find the ones that will work for me - and they make it so unbelievably convenient! Thanks Zappos!
