No Shasta...
Back again...the trip to Shasta was canceled due to really bad weather, so I went on a day hike up Mt. San Antonio (Mt. Balday). This is a local Southern Calif. hike that summits at 10,064. Still lots of snow up there. The trail I took gains a little over 4,000 ft (4 miles up, 4 miles back down). Temps ranged from the low 60's at the start to low 40's at the summit. I used duct tape on my heels and wore only liner socks to prevent overheating. The boots did a great job overall. Feet still got sweaty because it wasn't cold out, but no blisters. Traction was good; boots didn't pack with mud and performed great in semi-soft snow. Can't wait to do some glacier mountaineering in them, but I think they are going to do the trick. Happy so far...

Still early yet...
Ok...I bought these from Zappos and as always (plug away here), shipped super fast and returns are easy. I ordered an 11, and I have one foot that is 11, one that is slightly smaller. Usually not an issue in most boots. For me, these boots seem to either run a tad long, or more accurately, are for larger volume feet. I have low to mid, and these would be better for mid volume. After market footbeds (Shock Doctors) seemed to do the trick.
I also own Kayland Apex Ats and am not wearing them because of the seam that runs down the back of the heel was tearing up my heels. These La Sportivas, so far, are softer inside and are burlier as well. The Kayland's were lighter, but probably not as warm as these are going to be. Lacing is ok, but wish there were the locking laces like the Kaylands have...other La Sportiva's have better lacing systems, but not on this model. I have done about 10 miles on the trail so far and they are really comfortable! They have a little more flex than the Kaylands, so vertical climbing may suffer, but for general mountaineering, probably better. I head to Casaval Ridge, Mt. Shasta next week, so we will get a true test then...until then...

Blister Max!
The overall design of these mountaineering boots is good. However, I almost never get blisters and with these boots I have endured the whole back of my heel coming off several times. I think the problem is that I use inserts like Ed Veisters and Superfeet, etc. and it boosts my heel just a little bit higher than the insert that was in the boot (which I took out). I have now put back the cheepo insert that came with the boot and last time out didn't get any blisters. The boots are light for a mountaineering boot and yet heavy duty enough to handle winter mountaineering in the Sierras.
I really hate the Euro-flashy look. I wish they would just tone it down to dark grey or brown.
