When my daughter's new ballet slippers ordered from the local dance store came in too small and defective the week before her concert, I wished we had gone with Zappos from the start. These are beautiful! The material is wonderful. She says they are also comfortable and breathable. Best of all, they fit her size 10 feet perfectly.

A mixed bag of good and bad, but mostly bad -
I tried literally about 10 different ballet slippers for my class (thanks, Zappos) and I can safely say that these are going to be painful for most dancers due to unusually thick and hard metatarsal/heel leather, with no beveling or anything. Its too bad, I like the low-profile heel and soft material, but also I thought the "mesh" part felt like shelf liner. For the same price get a pair of bloch or capezio.

Glad I tried them!
It seems kind of dumb to call it a "cooler slipper" but it is! I am not a dancer but need a slipper for non-slide, more secure footing. I got that and found this slipper design helps in summer heat by providing better air flow.

Not the best canvas...
The Leo's Airabesque brand ALWAYS wears out faster than my friends' ballet slippers, it's because the canvas isn't as thick or strong.
The comfort and breathe-ability are AMAZING, so if you don't mind buying new shoes twice as often, go with these!

The pads on the soles are uncomfortable, probably my own fault because I didnt order a full size bigger. I wear a 7.5-8 shoe and ordered an 8. But they are great practice dance shoes hopefully they will stretch a bit. I bought the Gym X shoes and they are huge in the 8.

Overall, pretty good shoe...
As this was my very first purchase of a ballet shoe, I read all the previous reviews and took their advice by purchasing the shoe a half a size bigger than my shoe size. It's too big. They felt great the first class I took, but they stretched out. Also, once I realized they were too big, it was too late to return them since they were already slightly dirty on the bottom. Overall, I think it'd be a great shoe if I only had purchased one size smaller.

Split sole ballet shoe-
Nice looking shoe. Dancer likes canvas better than leather. Nice for keeping clean. I toss them in the washer but not the dryer.

Good ballet slipper for a beginner like myself. Fit is perfect, definitely made for those with tapered toes. I wear a street 5.5 and the 5.5M were right on. Mesh makes arch not as defined as I would like (Grishko's canvas shoe gives a beautiful arch but it doesn't come in black!) Nice low profile. Pleating is comfortable; however, the sole of the ball and heel are slightly padded and makes for a slightly uneven surface to balance on. Good on marley floors, not too slippery or sticky - have not tested on wood yet.

Order a size larger -
These shoes run very small. Order a size larger than your street-shoe size.

Nice shoe - RUNS HUGE -
I bought these shoes under the recommendation of others a 1/2 size smaller. It was at least one size if not 1-1/2 sizes bigger than labeled. My daughter wears a 7 shoe; we ordered a 6.5 and are reordering in a 5. I'll let you know how that worked out. Other than the size issue, it's a great shoe for the musical she's performing in.

Zappos effortless return policy is GREAT!
I ordered the wrong size (my fault) and Zappos 'return policy', with FREE return shipping, efficient crediting of returned item on my charge, and fast free shipment of the shoes in the right size is the BEST policy I have ever experienced. PS: order these 1 to 2 sizes bigger than your street shoes! I LOVE Zappos!! Airy barefoot-feel light weight shoe for Yoga or moderate ballet bar work at home or the gym.

Good shoe -
I love the feel of this shoe. It fits my foot perfectly, especially in the arch. I also think they look sleek and modern. The only drawback of these shoes is that they wear out fairly quickly. I've always been hard on shoes, but I wear out these ones even faster. But as they're not unreasonably expensive, I don't mind too much. My favorites!

An acceptable purchase -
This is an acceptable one considering the price. I agree to other reviews. In addition, it slides on the wooden floor.

Broken at the second time using -
I bought these shoes for my ballet class. When I went to the second class, as I put the shoes one, I found out there is a hole at the back heel. If I repair it by myself, it could be used for a while...

Listen to your inner voice...
I usually wear 8 1/2 M street shoe, and I though about maybe just ordering a size 9, but at the last minute changed my mind. I recommend to go 1/2 size larger than usual. I just got the shoe and its a bit tight around my toes, I hope that they'll stretch with time. Thank you Zappos for a speedy shipping!

They are like socks with cushions on the bottoms, not as consistent as I had expected but they are working out very well for my jazz class

Great Ballet Shoe -
My daughter is the dancer in the family and she has seen this shoe offered in dance books. She has always wanted to try it. When I saw it offered on Zappos.com I immediately called my daughter for her size and ordered them. They fit perfectly and she is thrilled with them. Thanks Zappos.

Taking a chance -
I usually buy Bloch's Pro Lite II. So trying the Leo Airabesque was a leap of faith so to speak. They were less than the Blochs so I thought I'd give them a try. The Leo is a good functional slipper. The soft instep allows a good point and a nice looking arch. The mesh sock liner is a little slippery compared to the suede liner in the Blochs. Although the Blochs are still the better slipper, I think the Leo Airabesque are a good practice slipper for the price.

The shoe is great quality and looks good. I'm sure it will stretch, but I wonder if I should have gotten a half size larger.

Very Comfortable Shoe -
I really like this shoe, however my only negative is that there is a bit to much gapping on both side of my arch during plie's and such. I have a wider foot so I chose to get the Airabesque in a wide, but definately didn't need it. Otherwise I would strongly reccommend this shoe, but might want to size down 1 or 1/2 size.

Great Quality, Affordable Price!!
I bought the Leo Airabesque ballet slipper to use for prom as an alternative to uncomfortable heels and I have to say I was very pleased with their look, fit, and comfort. The only negative thing I saw about them was that the split sole kind of felt like it was jabbing into the bottoms of my feet (not really bad though). Overall, I was very happy with them!
