Best socks ever!!!! My husband would never have paid the price, but now that I bought them for him he swears by them. I even have to ship them to my father, aunt, and uncle in Germany and Switzerland. They can get great quality products there, but no socks that compare to the Thorlos. My father plays tennis, my aunt and unlce hike a lot in the Swiss Alps. The moisture absorption, friction reduction, and even shock absorption are incredible.

I have been wearing Thorlos Coolmax Light Hikers for about 10 years now. They give me feet support and cushioning while working my 14 hour shifts. I also use them for hiking as well. They last longer than any sock previously tried. I am 65 so I have tried just about all of them.

What a treat for the feet! They hug the foot and cushion it and keep it comfortable...even through a 12-hour shift.

Just for hiking?
I have a small wide foot and found these socks did not fit properly. Typically I find Thorlos a very good fit; however, these keep falling at the calf area and bunching up on my foot. I purchased six pair for hiking and found myself just using them with cold weather pack boots, mostly for short walks and shoveling snow. The bottom line is the material is good, the Coolmax is okay for a medium thick sock, but I couldn't see myself wearing them with my Ecco or Vasque hiking boots on a longer trek.

Be aware of what these are.
These socks are about normal for a hiking sock but rather thick for a "light" sock. Don't let the words "coolmax" and light deceive you. These are thick and relatively hot as are almost all Thorlos. Allow me to recommend the Fitzwell L/W hikers. They are a bit thicker than a thin athletic sock (or undersock or dress sock) but not thick like a standard hiking sock and they are much cooler. Cooler, and a touch thinner than light Eurosocks even. If you are looking for cool, non-bulky socks don't buy these.

I recommend these socks - These socks are very comfortable. I found they are perfect with my motorcycle boots. They were a bit tight for my athletic walking shoes but will be fine when I go a half size larger. No problems with blisters with these socks.

I have some Thorlos I bought in 2001 which still show no signs of wear, and I wear them all the time. I just received these Coolmax Light Hikers yesterday for me & my kids (ordered the 6-pack since all 4 of us wear the same size). You should have heard the “oooh’s” and “aaaah’s” when they tried them on!! I then ordered a size larger for my husband, and I see on the tracking that I will receive these today with no additional shipping costs! Zappos is awesome!!
Other brands recommended by reviewer: Anything by Keen, Thorlos, Asics shoes for running.

I purchased these socks in preparation for a trip to Hells Canyon. I don't do a lot of hiking, just on vacations, and am always limited by my feet. These socks were SO comfortable; cushioned my feet in all the right places. I have thick calves and am always afraid that the sock cuff will dig in, but I didn't have that problem with these socks. I feel very happy to have successfully found an answer to one of my chronic problems--how to make my feet as happy as the rest of me while on vacation!

Great sock.
Recommended by the Zappos outdoor specialist as a good hiker sock. They're great! Super comfy, and not nearly as hot as my all wool hikers. Have worn them all day with no problems in 40-80 degree weather (spring in the desert southwest). Probably will be too hot for our summers, so a 3 season sock around here. No blisters, no binding. Very soft. Love these. Worth the price.

This sock is a comfortable and versatile product, suitable for use with hiking boots, sports shoes and casual shoes. It is much more durable than most socks I have owned. I especially like the design and use of colors.

Comfy yet light - perfect for fair weather hiking -
I hiked more than 30 miles over rough terrain in the Grand Canyon and Zion with these socks and they protected my feet every step of the way. Great comfort without too much bulk.

Comfortable socks -
These aren't as thick as I thought it would be (I guess that's why it says "light hiker") but are still very comfortable. It did start to fuzz after the first washing and I'm not sure how long they will last but so far I'm pretty happy with them.

Yes they are expensive! But what price do you hang on comfort, and dryness? For me almost any Thorlo is the only sock I wear.

Just got back from 2 weeks hiking in the Costa Rica rain forests...Alternating 3 pairs of Thorlos worked great...kept my feet dry the entire time.

Other wicking socks I have purchased start to look nubby after a few washings. These still look like new and the colors are neutral, but not awful.

My husband will not wear any other sock. My daughter first got them, then she got here husband some. So she got him his first pair and after that he was hooked. Thank you for such a good product. He says they are the most comfortable socks ever.
