Solid boots - Extremely happy with my new Trek Lites so far. After finally wearing out my killer old Vasque Sundowners that I had for over 10 years and had literally hundreds upon hundreds of miles from every single mountain range in this country, it was hard for me to even think about replacing them with a different brand of boots. But after trying on the new version of the Sundowners, I decided to branch out. I tried many different comparable boots on the market, and then found the Trek Lite. Decided to give them a try and immediately broke them in with a 10+ mile moderate to strenuous day hike. With absolutely no break in period, I had not a single hot spot or blister or ache or anything. Have since worn them on shorter hikes and they only get better. Love 'em. With hiking boots especially, you get what you pay for, and these Zamberlans are definitely worth the extra buck.

Great Gift -
I went out on the line and ordered a pair for a birthday gift for my husband just based on others recommendations. He was very pleased with them and they were a perfect fit (I had read that they run a half size small).

Beautiful Italian craftsmanship -
These boots are one piece leather with beautiful Italian Craftsmanship. Relatively light weight for their construction. The boots fit nice and are comfortable, they fit like a glove right from the start. If given the choice always opt for Italian boots/shoes (such as ASOLO, La Sportiva, Zamberlan, One Sport, Scarpa, even some Lowa's are Slovakian) better than the Chinese boots. The soles are made of a very nice soft rubber. They are VIBRAM soles. I learned from my Zamberlan literature that is named after Vitale Brimati who was old man Zamberlans buddy. If you ever need to resole these shoes you are out of luck. From experience I have learned that there is no cobbler that I could find that will put a very nice soft shock absorbing Vibram sole on boots. You will get a very hard plastic sole and the shoe will no longer absorb shock and be no good for hiking. You can use them for digging in the garden from then on. So try not to walk on the concrete or black top with these boots, save them for the trail.

Trek Lite GT - As good as it gets!
I shopped hard for great hiking boots. I wanted one-piece leather uppers & the highest quality construction and materials. These boots from Zamberlan have it all - and then some! They are a real bargain in the $210 - $225 range. They could easily be $300+ and, at that price, would still be a fair value. The boots definitely need a break-in period but I didn't experience a blister or hot spot, even during the first ten miles. Now, after one month and about 70 miles they feel like they are molded to my feet as an integral part of my body.
There are two things I would suggest. First, buy a pair of Superfeet inserts. I would suggest the green variety. Second, do not apply oil based waterproofing or conditioning products. They will soften the leather and ruin the wonderful support provided by the leather uppers. If waterproofing is desired use Sno-Seal. It is a beeswax based compound (no kidding) and does a superior job of waterproofing without softening the leather. The application of Sno-Seal is interesting. You heat the boots to about 120 degrees F and then apply the Sno-Seal. The leather will absorb the wax into its pores as it is heated. You'll need to repeat the warming and application process until the leather will not absorb any more wax. At this point the boots have the most effective waterproofing Ive ever seen. The waterproofing will last for about three months. Here's a heads-up for those worried about appearance - this waterproofing will darken the leather! If that bothers you - don't do it!
The bottom line is BUY THESE BOOTS - you won't be disappointed!
