Seemed comfortable at first, but there was zero arch support, which bothered my plantar fasciitis. (I even tried inserts. Thats how much I wanted to like this shoe, but no go.) On top of it, the tongue sticks up WAY above the top of the shoes once youve got it on, not like the picture at all. It made the shoe look very large and manly and probably would have prevented me from wearing it with shorts. Returning them.

Cannot recommend highly enough -
These boots feel like wearing an athletic shoe, they are so comfortable. They are rugged though, and a bit heavier than a trainer. They fit my narrow heels firmly, and I was so pleased with mine. My husband bought the men's version. Two years later, they are still in great condition.

Great overall hiking boot, waterproof a plus!
Vasque Breeze GTX XCR - I used these boots on a 4-day trek on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru. The trail consists of a LOT of stairs made of various rock sizes going up and down endlessly and it was also very muddy since it was the wet season. The initial fit was more comfortable than I expected, even with my wide feet. The boots didn't take too long to break in, just 3-4 days. They were very waterproof as I trekked through many puddles and it rained nearly everyday. My feet were totally kept dry. Even though the fit was comfortable enough, I probably could've gone up a half size bigger due to my wide feet. After 4 days my toes did get a little sore, but no blisters whatsoever, which is a big plus. Also, the traction on the boots felt secure when going over slippery rocks. I tried on many hiking boots and these boots felt the most comfortable, not too heavy and stiff yet still giving you freedom of movement while providing good ankle support. Price wise, these boots were worth it. I highly recommend these boots.

Pinky-toe killers!
Vasque runs NARROW! I can safely order all my shoes online because I'm a perfect 7B in every shoe and boot--except Vasque. Both pinky toes were painfully squished. I recommend it only to those with skinny feet.

I have short but wide feet and these are snug but not tight width wise, which means someone with narrow feet might have to wear thicker socks. With thicker athletic or light hiking socks they feel true to size and are comfortable with good ankle support.

Most expensive shoe I have bought in a while, but worth it!
Great on all levels. I would highly recommend this shoe for hiking and walking around. I wore them on a movie set the very first day I received them and even after 13 hours on my feet they felt great.

Stiff and painful -
I needed hiking boots for my visit to the Rockies. We did a 1/2 day hike, up to a waterfall and back down, and I was wincing with pain the last half of the trek. The boots offered great support for the ankles and protection against sharp rocks, but several times on the way down the boots actually hung on each other and caused me to trip, so I ended up trying to walk bow-legged to keep my footing. Not pleasant. It was July and my feet stayed cool and dry, but the next day when I needed to put them on again the pain was almost unbearable. My pinkie toes screamed. They served their purpose but I don't think I will ever wear them again. Glad I bought them on sale.

Vasque Breeze GTX-XCR-
I've only taken this shoe out for a short jaunt and not a full-fledged rugged hike. But it is very well made, quite comfortable to walk in, gives me the required amount of stability needed for my pronation, keeps my ankles steady, and is very, very cute. I've had Vasque hiking boots that have served me well for years, and this shoe/boot looks like it follows that model.

Hiking in new Vasque Boots-
My recent purchase of Vasque Boots has been a great experience. I have had a pair of Vasque Boots for over 15 years that still provide good service; the Gore-Tex still keeps my feet dry. The new boots are just as light on my feet and were comfortable out of the box. I expect to get 20 years or more of service from the Vasque Breeze GTX.

Great lightweight summer hiking boot, for average width feet -
I have an average width foot, except for across the toes which is wider than average. I ordered my regular size but exchanged them for 1/2 size up. The boots were sturdy and held ground, felt stable on rocky hikes through Colorado's Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park. I could feel the air flow which kept my feet cool. The only problem was the toes were too cramped, even with the larger size, and after about 3 miles of hiking they began to really hurt, despite my pre-bandaging the pinky toes. My toes actually started losing circulation the next day on a 2-hour horseback trek and I was cringing with the pain the last 1/2 hour, couldn't wait to remove the boots. Other than the toe area though, these boots were perfect. I am hoping that a shoe stretcher will solve the problem for me, and most people with regular width feet should not have this issue, so I recommend trying them. They are lightweight and well made, a great warm-weather hiker, and the color is a nice change from the typical tan.

Great shoe!
Two things I particularly like about this hiking shoe - the laces start lower down on my foot below the toes, so there's no painful digging like with some other shoes I tried - and the heel support in the back has a small dip so there is no rubbing on the achillies. Overall very comfortable and breathable.

Dry feet!!
Just got back from a hike up Mount Washington. Still snow on the mountain so the trail from the Cog Railway was like one long stream. I was with 43 high school kids on an outdoor ed trip and when we reached the top I was the only one with dry feet. The boots had no break-in period to speak of and despite two LONG days of climbing (the first up Mount Washington from the Cog and down Tuckerman's Ravine to Pinkham Notch) and the second day to the summit of Mount Chocoura, my feet were very comfortable and no blisters at all. The grip was amazing even on the slippery wet rocks at the summit of Chocoura (we encountered thunderstorms/hail while we were climbing). The boot is nice and light and that pale yellow along the bottom makes for a pretty sweet looking little boot!

Hiking is a breeze -
Aside from the fact that this is an attractive shoe, the sole is solid and appropriate for day hiking. Because I am short I REALLY like that this shoe gives me some extra height due to the chunky sole, which doesn't impede movement whatsoever. This shoe is very stiff and will take time to break in, which is fine since after all the idea behind the higher ankle is the added support. Last weekend I went on a 6 mi. day hike, which was a breeze! I'm planning to go hiking a lot more now.

Great hiking shoe!
Got this shoe for hiking the National Parks and glaciers in Alaska. Needed a half-size larger than my regular street shoes, but same size as other athletic shoes which all tend to run a bit small. Love the Zappos service and eaze of buying and returning!!!!
