You can’t go wrong with Doc Martens!
I have two shoes by Doc Marten and wish I had 100! I have an oxford that I have worn for nearly 10 years and they are still going strong. These boots I got are wonderful! Wore them out of the box with no problems... YEAH!

I have been an ardent DM consumer for well over a decade. The last good pair I bought was in 2005. The subsequent 3 pair I bought ALL had construction problems with the sole glue that made the shoe start to separate and make horrible squeaking noises when walking. I have to put on my 3 year old pair to have any sort of quietness when I walk. They still look as good as they used to and seem to wear ok, but the noise/squeak is unacceptable.

Rough break in - but great!
Nice boots - be prepared to break them in b/c they are stiff at first - look great and are getting more comfortable with break in -- hope to have them/enjoy them for years.

Looks great and comfortable -
Took me around two weeks breaking them in. I wore them on rainy days for a few times and took less time breaking them in than I thought. Very comfortable after they get a bit softer, looks great and pretty waterproof. Worth the price.

Love them, but quality is low -
I've had mine for about two and a half years and pretty much wore them everyday. For the first year and a half I polished them every week and treated them with mink every two months. Haven't had time to do that over the last year. The leather cracked and I have a hole in the leather now. I think that is unacceptable. Everyone always told me they would wear a single pair for five plus years. Regardless, I will be buying another pair. I guess 2 1/2 years is pretty good considering sneakers never even last a year... and look bad after six months. They are comfortable. I wear rigid insoles in all my shoes, so I didn't have much of a problem breaking them in.

It’s been a long time -
I used to rock Doc Martens in the late 80's and early 90's when in middle school and high school. I have decided to single-handedly bring them back in style. Already getting lots of rave reviews from friends aged 23-32. I think they are a hit all over again!

Best Boots Ever!
After a decade or so of consideration, I finally bought a pair of Martens. I wish I had done this years earlier. These are, without doubt, the best pair of boots I have ever owned. The first few days are a little rough on the ankle and lower calf (I found tying them a little on the loose side and wearing them every other day helped). After a week, they were softening up and conforming to my foot nicely. You need to commit at least one month of wear to these boots for proper break-in, but you will not be disappointed. The overall comfort now more than makes up for a little pain in the early days.

Great shoe...once you break them in -
These shoes are the most comfortable and longest lasting shoes... once you break them in. It takes a few weeks of loyal wearing in but once they conform to your feet, they're your best friend forever. A good idea is to spend a day with them lathered in professional baseball conditioner or olive oil to help soften the leather and break them in easier. Other people I spoke to wore them for a day after soaking them in the bathtub, I was afraid of mold so didn't go that route. It still took about a week of wearing and applying conditioner till they fit just right, but I knew this going in having pairs in my youth. Great support stability in rain or shine, these are the best shoes on the planet to me.

Cute, but wide -
My friend had this boot and I thought it was cute. She said it was very comfortable. So I bought a pair. I actually bought 2 pairs because of the strange sizing and kept the better of the 2, more for looks than for comfort. It's a unisex boot and cut very wide. But it is comfortable. It also doesn't breathe, so I won't get much summer wear out of them. Go with the smaller boot if your foot falls within 2 size ranges.

Nicks Boots -
I got these boots for my son, and having had Dr. Martens myself, I was worried they would take forever to break in and they would give him blisters, but from day one they have been great- no complaints.

A painful adjustment -
I had a beloved pair of Docs like these years ago, and they were great, so I thought I'd revisit an old friend. The look is still the same, but I don't remember the break-in period being half as painful the last time around. This pair is, in no uncertain terms, the most painful pair of shoes/boots I've ever broken-in, to the point that I have to give myself a few days in between each wear. I don't know if that has anything to do with the shift in manufacturing from the UK to China (if you were expecting "The Original," you'll be disappointed), but these boots are absolutely KILLING my feet.

Size is a problem -
Love my old brown Docs that I’ve had for years and tried to get a new one in black but size is a definite problem. I am a size 6 but the shoe feels at least a half size too big that I have to try and compensate for with thick socks and cushion inserts. Tried going down a size and that was just too tight. Also, this "smooth" leather is really stiff --- have keep stomping on the whole thing to try and massage out the stiffness. Finally decided to try the smaller size in the nappa leather which was way softer. Wish I had gotten this shoe in with that leather but too late now.

I haven't owned a pair of Docs since high school, but they're just like I remember. They're stiff and require some breaking in, but then they're like your best friend. Just prepare for some bruised shins until then.

Great boots, but long break-in period -
I like the support that these boots provide and they are working well with my orthotics, so far. It seems that they will take a considerable amount of time to break in but once that happens I am sure I will be happy with them for years to come. I love the air sole - very cushiony!

Boots For A Sasquatch -
Bought these boots for my son, 32 years old, because they are his favorites and the only brand where he can count on getting a good fit since his feet are super-extra-gigantic. He has owned one other pair and wore them for 15 years until they burnt up in a house fire. Too bad! Those boots still had some wear left in them, but that is the reason we are on the second pair. He has to wear orthotics because of his 1% arch and with those inserted, these boots are perfect for Sasquatch! The cost is fair when you consider they are gonna last a lifetime as long as you don't burn down the house. With Zappos free shipping, it was quick and easy.

Great shoe, something has changed since the 90s...
Years ago I had a black pair of these Docs and hate to say it, but I wore them almost straight for three years... COM-FER-TUH-BULL! I remember there was a break in period, but remember the soles being a little different... more flexible or thicker? I am wearing a brown pair of Docs I bought with these and they felt like I've had ‘em six months... this black pair is taking longer to break in and like I said, the soles don't feel the same... with all that said... I LOVE THESE SHOES and in six months, suspect I’d give them all 5 star ratings... after the break in period...

Can't go wrong with Dr. Martens boots!
I just ordered the 1460 in Navy Smooth -- a nice alternative to the traditional colors offered. Comfortable as Docs always are perhaps a little more difficult to break-in, but not uncomfortable in the least during the process, and as always great in rain or sun. Perfect for the wet winter of the northwest, and stylish!

These boots are not for the wide feet people of the world. They do take some adjustment to if you are wearing for the first time. You do need to break them in but overall good quality good shoe never goes out of style

Solid but snug -
I have now had these boots for one year. The boots are a solid construction and should last. But they still don't feel "broken in." They are still tight in the toes and feel stiff. I am considering having them stretched by the local cobbler. My other pair of boots of this same model never had this problem, and they are a tad shorter in the sole. They were a non-coated leather, and maybe they stretched more than the black coated leather. Those boots lasted 8 years before the sole gave out! I still highly recommend Docs for long-lasting style!

Classic Dr. Marten's quality and style -
I started wearing these back in 1986, now my daughters want their own! These boots never die, never fail, and they are and will always be cool.
PS. You do have to break them in first!

I ordered late afternoon on a Thursday and had my docs the next morning! How's that for service!
I had to trade in my high heels for boots to work on a construction site, so I reverted to my old trusty Dr. Martens. They are still the best - sturdy, comfortable and still look cool. Just remember, it takes a week or so to break 'em in.

Leather not as high quality as the old UK Docs -
These shoes look as good as the old Docs, but the leather is of a lower quality. I am hoping after they break in that they feel similar to the other Docs I have owned.

Pleased...but -
First of all, the Zappos Customer Service is simply outstanding. They all were extremely helpful in every regard. The only problem I had was that the shoe color in person seemed darker than pictured on the website. I still like the color, it just happened to be different. All in all a great shoe. I will never buy shoes online unless it is from Zappos.
