This shoe runs true to size, with a little width to make it comfortable. This is the 2nd year I've purchased this shoe for my son who wears them for school. They last, with the exception of the shoelaces that seem to wear out, due to not staying tied. Other than that, it's a good buy.

Nice looking shoe. My son needed shoes for his school uniform. After running around in flip-flops all summer, putting on a full shoe was going to be a challenge. This shoe has a real flexible rubber sole and a soft nubuck upper that did not require much breaking in. They are roomy (wide) with a nice rounded toe.

I bought these as church shoes for my 7-year old son. I wanted an all-around shoe that he could wear to church and other places as well. He loves them, and I do too. He wore them with his chinos. He looked so handsome. The shoes are really nice. I bought a wide shoe since my son\\\'s feet are wide. They are very light, comfortable, and true to size. The shoes are also reasonably priced. I will probably buy these again when we need another pair of casual shoes. And as always, I was happy with my buying experience at Zappos. I especially like that the shipping was upgraded, and I received the shoes the following day.

I needed a pair of shoes for my son to wear to a school event and wedding. I ordered on Tuesday - had them on Thursday (event was Friday!) Perfect fit for his wide feet and the best part is my son loves them!

School Issue Scholar Shoe Review -
Initially we purchased the dirty buck suede which ran true to size. We exchanged them for the brown Nubuck but had to exchange them again because the brown Nubuck ran a 1/2 size smaller. My son has worn this shoe twice with no complaints. The quality and price are great and as usual, the customer service was outstanding for each transaction.

Great shoes!
I ordered these shoes in black as a school shoe for my 10-yr-old son, to replace a similar shoe from Sperry that he got in the beginning of the school year (the sole of those wore completely through by Thanksgiving). These seem to have a more substantial sole, so I'm hopeful that they will last longer. They are very lightweight and he says they are comfortable. He has to wear a jacket, tie, khakis to school, and these shoes look great. I was afraid the black ones would rub off on socks, at least in the beginning, but that hasn't happened. I'd buy these again.

I want some more -
These shoes are for my 6 year old. He has big, wide feet and I looked and looked for shoes in his size at at least 4 shoe stores locally. Finally did what I had to do last year and ordered from Zappos. I just asked him to review his new church shoes and all he said was, "I want some more."

My son wears a 10.5 medium shoe. I ordered a 10.5 medium shoe. It is too narrow and I couldn't even get it on his foot!

My son wears these shoes every day for school. He walks 1 mile to and from and never complains about his feet hurting. One month into school they still look brand new.

My son likes the shoes. He has a very wide foot and these shoes accommodate that, which is rare for dress shoes. This is a good product.

Lasted the whole school year!
My 6th grader is tough on shoes. This is the first time he's had a pair of shoes that lasted the entire year, and they still look good! No holes; heel is a bit worn, as expected, but still there. Most importantly, they were very comfortable. They're like Rockport’s for kids. If I could give this shoe 10 stars I would!

Purchased this shoe for my 6th grader who has a wide foot. He was a Page for a Senator at the Kansas State Capitol and needed comfortable shoes for the day to wear with his suit. Although he said they felt a fraction long, he was able to wear them all day up and down 296 steps! He never complained once about them and they blended in very nicely with his charcoal wool slacks. He has "deep and wide" feet and these fit in the width perfectly. He was excited that he could wiggle his toes in them. Since they didn't cause a blister, I'm guessing they weren't actually that long either... so they must be true to size. They solved all issues: dressy looks, comfort, and fit.

Tough kid gets a new shoe!
My grandson is SO hard on shoes. This one is comfy and cleans up perfectly with a medium weight brush when he gets them dirty. I felt the laces were way too long for a youth shoe however.

Comfort from Day one -
I bought these for my seven year old son to wear to a funeral. He has had them for about three weeks now. He would just as soon wear these as his athletic shoes. He usually wears an extra wide shoe, but since this shoe did not come in that width, I bought a wide a half size longer. The extra length doesn't bother him. The only problem with the shoe is that the insole on one foot is loose and curls up a little, but this doesn't bother my son.

Finding the elusive dress shoe -
We live in a small Pacific Northwest town and the only dress shoes I could find included the word "hiking." These are great shoes and have held up well to the weather, as well as my son. I don't know why I didn't find this place sooner. I had my shoes, in hand, less than 24 hours after placing the order. Great customer service!

I needed to purchase a pair of school shoes quickly for my son - he lost 1 of his shoes at football practice. (I always wonder how you lose a shoe!) Anyhow... I had a hard time finding any stock of school shoes both online and in a store - Zappos was the only one. They had a decent selection also. After looking, my son chose these. He likes them. They are comfortable, but he prefers his original shoes more. They were Academy Gear - however, I can't find them anywhere online and they're sold out at the store from which they were purchased. I like the Academy Gear look a little better also. What I did like about these shoes is that I could get a wide width. My son doesn't like a shoe unless he can't feel it. So getting the wide was great! He's been wearing them everyday now for about 3 weeks and I haven't had a complaint!
Other brands recommended by reviewer: Academy Gear if you can find them.

Good compromise -
I had a struggle trying to find "dress" shoes for my 8 year old son that he'd wear and not complain constantly about. Most looked too dressy but when we found these he liked them because they were so similar to his brown suede bucks. They fit well, look great and he's happy. For me the price was great, free shipping and we had them within 24 hours of ordering. What more could you want? We shop Zappos for everyone in our family!

Very satisfied with shoe.
True to size. Very soft and comfortable dressy shoe. My child experienced no discomfort in wearing them immediately as full day school shoes. The shoe strings do untie more frequently than normal, even when they are tied tightly and double knotted. I would purchase this shoe again.
