Lasted the whole school year!
My 6th grader is tough on shoes. This is the first time he's had a pair of shoes that lasted the entire year, and they still look good! No holes; heel is a bit worn, as expected, but still there. Most importantly, they were very comfortable. They're like Rockport’s for kids. If I could give this shoe 10 stars I would!

Purchased this shoe for my 6th grader who has a wide foot. He was a Page for a Senator at the Kansas State Capitol and needed comfortable shoes for the day to wear with his suit. Although he said they felt a fraction long, he was able to wear them all day up and down 296 steps! He never complained once about them and they blended in very nicely with his charcoal wool slacks. He has "deep and wide" feet and these fit in the width perfectly. He was excited that he could wiggle his toes in them. Since they didn't cause a blister, I'm guessing they weren't actually that long either... so they must be true to size. They solved all issues: dressy looks, comfort, and fit.

Tough kid gets a new shoe!
My grandson is SO hard on shoes. This one is comfy and cleans up perfectly with a medium weight brush when he gets them dirty. I felt the laces were way too long for a youth shoe however.

Comfort from Day one -
I bought these for my seven year old son to wear to a funeral. He has had them for about three weeks now. He would just as soon wear these as his athletic shoes. He usually wears an extra wide shoe, but since this shoe did not come in that width, I bought a wide a half size longer. The extra length doesn't bother him. The only problem with the shoe is that the insole on one foot is loose and curls up a little, but this doesn't bother my son.

Finding the elusive dress shoe -
We live in a small Pacific Northwest town and the only dress shoes I could find included the word "hiking." These are great shoes and have held up well to the weather, as well as my son. I don't know why I didn't find this place sooner. I had my shoes, in hand, less than 24 hours after placing the order. Great customer service!

I needed to purchase a pair of school shoes quickly for my son - he lost 1 of his shoes at football practice. (I always wonder how you lose a shoe!) Anyhow... I had a hard time finding any stock of school shoes both online and in a store - Zappos was the only one. They had a decent selection also. After looking, my son chose these. He likes them. They are comfortable, but he prefers his original shoes more. They were Academy Gear - however, I can't find them anywhere online and they're sold out at the store from which they were purchased. I like the Academy Gear look a little better also. What I did like about these shoes is that I could get a wide width. My son doesn't like a shoe unless he can't feel it. So getting the wide was great! He's been wearing them everyday now for about 3 weeks and I haven't had a complaint!
Other shoes recommended by reviewer: Academy Gear if you can find them.

Good compromise -
I had a struggle trying to find "dress" shoes for my 8 year old son that he'd wear and not complain constantly about. Most looked too dressy but when we found these he liked them because they were so similar to his brown suede bucks. They fit well, look great and he's happy. For me the price was great, free shipping and we had them within 24 hours of ordering. What more could you want? We shop Zappos for everyone in our family!

Very satisfied with shoe.
True to size. Very soft and comfortable dressy shoe. My child experienced no discomfort in wearing them immediately as full day school shoes. The shoe strings do untie more frequently than normal, even when they are tied tightly and double knotted. I would purchase this shoe again.

Most comfortable dressy shoe -

They changed my son's dress code this year so that no loafers or slip-ons are allowed. He was really miserable, because he just never seems comfortable in lace-up shoes. But he loves these and they fit him perfectly.

Great dress shoe for school -
My nine-year-old son is comfortable on "dress uniform day" at school because these shoes have a great fit and a great look. He needs "wide" shoes and it's hard to find a shoe that looks this great and has enough room. It has a padded insole (very nice), but no arch support (wish it did).

Wonderful shoes for school -
Bought these in a wide width for my son, and the fit is great. Shoes are well-cushioned inside, and the inside upper is buttery soft leather - much more comfortable than I thought they'd be. Rich brown color. Well made; I believe these will stand the test of time. Great sturdy shoe (think Rockport for kids), and my son likes the way they look. Two-way shipping offer sold the deal for me, but I didn't need to use it. Great sales strategy.

Catholic School Parent Loves These -
My son began Kindergarten last year and needed a sturdy, good shoe for the year. Being a Catholic school they have to be a good loafer. This shoe lasted the entire year! (Well until end of May) bought a cheap shoe for last 2 weeks. I mean they were worn everyday! I am ordering them for 1st grade!

I had to search high and low for the exact luster of shoe I hankered for.
These shoes are NOT GLOSSY. I repeat, not glossy, and that is exactly what sealed the deal. The full-grain texture serves well as a sophisticated, not-overdone dress shoe, as well as a casual shoe for wear with jeans.
The style is very nice - simple, with plastic sole lacing that is aesthetically pleasing. I'd like to emphasize that the proportions of the sole are especially nice; not too thin-looking, like I find most others are.
I am truly delighted with these shoes.

My 8 year old picked these as dress shoes for the holidays. We had already tried two other styles (my choices) that were uncomfortable. As soon as he put these on, he said "I feel like I could walk 8 miles in these." There you have it. While perhaps not as dressy as I would have liked, he is more than happy to wear them.
