Great look but too wide for toddler/youth -
This shoe was just what my granddaughter wanted until she put it on and even tightening the Velcro straps as tightly as possible, the shoe was obviously just too wide (size 1.5). And of course when you tighten up the straps the excess flaps around nearly touching the ground when she walks. She still tries to wear them a bit but unless your child has boxcars for feet, they are going to be wide (even with socks).

Great overall, this is our fourth pair!
So glad to find these on Zappos I had to order them direct from Vans before. I disagree about the heel support. My active 4 year old HATES thick backed sneakers and these stay on wonderfully. I think they're more supportive and sturdier than Chucks and we've gone through as many. Stylish little shoes that are easy for little hands to put on. They do run a half size big and are wide which is a huge bonus with my boy's Fred Flintstone feet. I'll keep buying them as long as he likes the look.

Look cool, but much too big!
I failed to read the Zappos reviews before purchasing these shoes for my son and they are way too big for him. Rather than return them I am opting to just wait until his feet grow which shouldn't be too long! Are also wider than other sneakers, but can be made narrower by tightening the hook-and-loop straps.

Shoes for a boy -
My son loves these. They run very big. They are also really wide. We are really cinching them up, so the velcro tabs curl. The 3 straps customize the fit, but 2 would be easier for a boy to fasten himself. They're well made, sturdy, and look great despite being way too big right now. Chucks are narrower, but not available on this site.

This is my son's 2nd pair of Vans. He picked them out by himself when we decided it was time for new shoes. He's 7 and likes the "cool" look, they're different and aren't just plain, ordinary tennis shoes. He also likes how quick and easy they are to get on and off. He wore his first pair out so they must be comfy. Buyers should know that they tend to run a bit wide so this style may not be a good choice if your child has narrow feet but other than that, these are great, super cool shoes! We will definitely buy Vans again and most definitely shop at Zappos again!

My son loves his shoes -
Very cool looking and easy to accommodate orthotics. Easy to open and close, although 2 velcro straps would be easier to deal with than 3. Overall, very happy with these shoes.

Love this shoe!
My son absolutely loves his Vans shoes. The velcro is so nice, however I wish they only had one big velcro strap as opposed to 3. The tongue has a tendency of riding down sometimes if you don't secure the straps tight enough. Could use some more padding, but overall it's a great shoe.

These are the coolest -
Oh my! I can't begin to tell you how cool my 7 year old thinks he is in these sneakers. They look great. Very "in".
He says they are very comfortable. I don't know how the support is, because he doesn't understand what that means. He loves to wear them!

Love these shoes -
I loved the shoe they're so cute. The size runs really big though... even compared to the Slip-Ons I own... in my Vans slip-ons I have a 3.5 in this shoe I needed a size 2.

No heel support -
A cool shoe, just not enough support so it had to go back. The heel area of the shoe didn't do anything to keep my little guy's feet in the shoe and I can't imagine that being very comfortable for a 5 year old who is constantly on the go.

LOVIN THE HOOK AND LOOP CLOSURES -
Placed my Zappos order online on a Friday afternoon and received right away...Wow great service as usual from Zappos. My grandson wanted these Vans because of the skulls and the hook and loop closures. Vans do tend to run about a half size bigger. Thank you Zappos for having half sizes because all web sites don't.
