This is such a stylish shoe and a great "essential" for the working woman's wardrobe. My big toe, however, seems to be smashed down in the toe box. There doesn't seem to be enough height in that area of the shoe. As has been mentioned before, the strap is a little "slippery" - so we'll have to see how that goes with time. The width is perfect. I bought it first in an 8 wide, then in an 8.5 wide to compare the two. The 8 wide will work, I believe. Right now I've placed something in the toe box, right where my big toe hits in the shoe to stretch it up a little hopefully creating a little more height space for my big toe. If not, I'll probably have to take it into a shoe repair to have it stretched. Hopefully, that will work as I do want to keep the shoe. Otherwise, great shoe!

These shoes are adorable and I just love the smart look of them. It's killing me to have to send them back, but the style won't work for my toes.

Tight across instep -
I was disappointed to have to return this shoe (7.5M) but the shoe comes up higher on the foot than it looks in the picture, and the minute I tried them on they cut into the instep of my foot. This is particularly unusual since Annie shoes seem to be VERY wide. As soon as you lift them out of the box you can see that the sides of the shoes seem to flare open like they have been stretched by a wide foot (and I am a person whose foot is a medium with a bit of discomfort in every other brand.) After 2 disappointing Annie purchases, I won't buy them again

Annie Carol, Black Snake -
I have added to my Annie Carol wardrobe. I find this shoe to be comfortable for my wide, diabetic feet. The heel height is comfortable for walking. The design of the heel provides stability. I appreciate your notifying me when the Black Snake shoes were available in my size.

Review of Annie's Carol shoes -
Heel is a nice height and offers support with it's width. Toe felt a little tight. Overall, the shoe is comfortable. Could use a little more padding in the sole. Like the adjustable strap.

Wore this shoe approximately 5 hours. Was not comfortable when walking. Left red marks on the big toe bone where shoe makes a U-shape. Shoes looked good on my feet, but were not comfortable when I was walking! Feel like I've wasted my money on this one!

A great basic shoe for dress -
I was pleasantly surprised when these shoes arrived. They are made of nice, soft leather, with a comfortable, padded innersole. The heel is just the right height, and they will be a great addition to many spring and summer outfits. The price was a nice bonus, as well. A pretty, basic dress shoe!

This one's a winner -
These shoes are like a little slice of heaven for my wide, tender feet. I almost never wear heels because they are just too painful for my feet. This shoe was comfortable for hours, and looks fantastic. And you just can't beat Zappos for customer service!

The line where the upper portion of the shoe ends digs into my foot. The strap falls off when I walk no matter how tight I make it. This shoe looks nice but I'm not finding it very wearable.

Pretty, but no cushioning.
My usual size fit well (7W), but there's absolutely no cushioning for the ball of the foot, so I'm sending them back b/c I know they won't be comfortable all day.

I have wide feet and bunions, so the extra wide size is very accommodating. It is as comfortable as a heel can be and simple yet elegant in styling. I am sure I will wear this shoe for many occasions.

I purchased this shoe hoping to it would be both attractive and comfortable,and I wasn't disappointed. It is true to size and width and the strap doesn't become painful after several hours of wear. I will certainly purchase another pair.

Comfortable workhorse for a business wardrobe -
I have worn these shoes at least 10 times in the past three weeks, and they are wonderful. Like the other reviews, I found these shoes to be comfortable on the first wearing.
One thing about them -- the toes are pointier than they appear in the picture. I am not a pointy-toed shoe fan, but these are not quite as pointy as most dress shoes available these days, and the comfort factor more than makes up for that.

This shoe was just what I was looking for in a "Sunday shoe" or dress-up shoe. I do wish it offered a little more plantar arch support, but overall it's a great shoe for the purposes I ordered it for.

All Day Comfort -
Christmas Eve, I wore a pair in Black Snake. I put my shoes on at 5:30 am and took them off on Christmas Day at 1:00 am. I was visiting a special friend who is an Episcopal priest. I attended five church services. I used double faced tape to keep the sling backs from sliding. I found these shoes to be comfortable.

Finally I can buy shoes that fit!!!
This is the second pair of shoes I have bought from Zappos and have been 100% satisfied. Most women love buying shoes; I hate it because I can never find a pair that is wide enough. I watch "What Not to Wear" and they say you should try to elongate your legs with narrow toed shoes. I never thought I would find a pair that would fall into this category. I saw these shoes and thought I should order a half size up because I did not know where the shoe would start to narrow. I was right on the money. I ordered a WW which is impossible to find anywhere. The shoes were perfect! I am so happy. I do not think I will ever enter another shoe store again. I would rather shop online and be ecstatic. Thank you so much.

Narrow at toes -
These shoes are cute but were a bit narrow in the toes, so I returned them. I ordered a W, and they do have a WW, but I'm not so taken with them that I will take a chance on the wider size. Also, if you have a narrow heel the heel strap might slip.

Great little "black dress" shoe!
Thank you Zappos! It is so hard to find "comfortable" dress shoes in a wider width. These come the closest. Very pleased with the classic look and the feel. Very well made... I feel these will last a long time!

I should have listened to the other reviewer who said that the strap kept sliding off. I have the same problem.
The shoe gives me the exact look that I wanted, but it isn't overly comfortable. I would have considered sending it back but I didn't have enough time to purchase something else.
There is not a lot of padding under the ball of the foot. I am considering getting some kind of insert for that.

Great fitting pump -
I love this shoe. I wore them for the first time to a day-long conference. I anticipated that my feet would hurt by lunchtime because they were new. However, they were comfortable all day. I was also concerned that the back strap would fall down, but that was never a problem either. The toe is little too pointy for my taste but all else aside, the shoes were a great buy.

Annie's Narrow is too, too Wide -
I shop at Zappos because they carry narrow widths. But, this shoe in narrow is just too wide. I loved the look but the toe/vamp is very wide for a narrow. I sent them back. I should have read more reviews on Annies, too wide seems to be a common problem.
