Midsole is much stiffer than on Asolo's discontinued Nomad -
I bought Asolo's Voyager thinking that it would be an updated version of Asolo's discontinued Nomad boot. The Nomad was the best boot I've ever owned; I especially liked its very flexible midsole for pleasant hiking. Unfortunately, despite looking almost exactly like the Nomad in the online photos and weighing about the same, Asolo's Voyager has a midsole that is very stiff, making it only a little better than wearing wooden clogs. Yes, the toe area does flex somewhat but the midsole is just too stiff for comfort. Past the toe, the sole does not flex at all. I understand that outdoor writers advocate stiffer midsoles for extended hiking with moderate to heavy loads, but when you talk with us hikers you'll discover this is not what most of us want at all. Sure, I could have bought Lowa boots, which now has several very flexible boots in its lineup, but Lowas are a half size too small and cause toe bang and if I buy a full size larger then they are too big and the toe area is too narrow. Which brings me to the second problem with these Asolo Voyagers: Unlike the perfectly fitting Asolo Nomads, the Voyagers are a half size too small. I wear a 13, and no half sizes are available for Asolo or for that matter Lowa. For some unknown reason, Asolo decided to eliminate the Nomad from its Enduro lineup of boots and now the Enduro lineup only includes lowtops. I can't wear lowtops when hiking because my ankles turn over too easily. And these Voyagers are narrower at the toe area than the Nomads and a half size shorter, too, so they are also going to cause discomfort for my toes, too. It is so frustrating to find a comfortable boot and then it is discontinued and replaced with a brick right when I have worn out my favorites. Another problem with Voyagers is that they are Goretex lined, which makes them too hot for Southern California where I live. This is the lightest Asolo boot, and the brand has eliminated all comfortable boots from its lineup. Rats! Please, bring back the Asolo Nomad!

Solid shoe, reasonably light in its category. Moderate to low arch support. Plan to get 1/2 size more than what you usually wear. "True to width" is almost correct, but that depends on the socks you plan to wear.
