A little hard to break in at first, but love them overall, after about a week I was able to walk the 2 miles to school/work no problem. I used to have a knock-off pair w/ zippers in high school and was dying for the real thing. They're absolutely adorable and go with everything. My boyfriend loves them. Granted, the lacing and unlacing takes a while, but it's all worth it once they're on.

These shoes are really sexy, but hard to break in. Once they are broken in however they are so comfy.

Just what I wanted!
They're perfect. I've wanted these boots for years, and finally placed my order with Zappos. Like someone else said, I do wish they were just a little bit taller, to be a true knee-high. Nice, soft leather, very comfortable.

Great pair of boots but to lace is a chore!
I received a lot of compliments from men and fit was perfect considering I have very slim calves.

I love them. They are the best boots I ever owned I had 14 hole in the past when I saw the 20 eyelet I had to have them and I love them even more than my old ones. They go great with everything, my work uniform, a polo and khaki, my regular clothes jeans t-shirts etc. And my fun time clothes such as skirts and dresses and even my slacks and blouses

These boots are kickin!
I was a little reluctant to order these boots based on some of the other customer reviews, but I absolutely love them. Yes, you must have slender calves. No question. But if you love Dr. Martens and you're looking for something that will turn heads, look no further. No blisters, but please wear calf high, quality socks that fit well and don't allow for chafing. (I used my thin snowboarding socks)

The perfect pair of boots.
These are what I have been looking for all my life. The look is perfect, and goes with pretty much everything. I love that there's no inside zip, so water can't get in when it's been raining. I only took a star off on comfort as a reminder to people who have never had docs before: these shoes take a LONG time to break in. I've had my 10-holes for four years, so I can wear normal socks with them, so one morning I wasn't paying attention and put on normal socks, and by the end of the day my heels were killing me (no blisters though). But to people who insist this leather is too tough: this leather is made to LAST. Unlike the instantly "super-soft" boots you'll pick up from the fashion boot makers, these won't fall apart in a year or two and will actually keep your feet WARM. Basically, the perfect pair for experienced boot-lovers.

I love these!
Well, I just got my 20 eyelet boots in the mail and I love them so much! They are super hot and because I wore out my other 14 hole ones these new ones feel very cushy...I love Docs and I am excited about breaking these babies in!! Can’t wait to wear them to shows either. I know these are going to get second glances for sure!

Killer boots!
My first pair of tall boots and totally happy with it. However, it takes some time to break them in. When you first put these on, it feels like being inside a pair of ski boots.. stiff and hard to walk. I strongly recommend wearing a pair of knee high boot socks or soccer socks during your break-in period or your heels / upper calves will be angry at you. After a week of breaking in, the boots finally conformed to the shape of my legs. Keep in mind, these boots are not for people with chubby legs due to the shaft width and lace length. If you know you are going somewhere with frequent boots removal, leave these babies at home because lacing / unlacing can take a long time. These boots look good with your jeans rolled up or any other way to show off the 20 eyelets. The only thing that I wish is to make 9663s 2 inches taller so they can be truly knee high. Get them boys and gals!

Very sexy (and yes, if you're narrow, you can wear them)!
These boots are very sexy!! Men notice them immediately. What 30-something single woman doesn't like that? They look great with a long skirt, making them great for the office, provided you don't work in a button-down environment. Other reviewers mentioned problems breaking them in. I bought some liquid leather softener and that worked like a charm. (You'll need to put it on the inside of the boot; it won't go through the coating on the outside.) I also wore thick socks. As the headline mentioned, I'm a narrow. The laces allow me to get a snug fit around the heel (my problem area). I also got the Dr. Marten's shoe balsam, which is great for shining up the boots and other shoes. I'd recommend buying Dr. Marten's insoles (I got them from the Dr. Marten's website. Maybe Zappos will add them?). They add extra arch support and make the boots super comfortable.

These boots are great. They look great with my goth look, I love that there isn't a zipper going up the side of them like those cheap ones you get at hot topic, and to boot they're very comfortable ^_^ go Doc Martens!

Sexy Sexy Sexy -
These boots look so sexy on with skirts, shorts, & dresses. I have not been able to break them in. I'm gonna sand paper them down. I know no pain, no gain but , may have to cheat and take them to leather worker. I want them to be so broke in that the shaft falls when standed up. Overall, these are my favorites!!!!!! Though I do still have a blister.

I bought a pair of these boots about 6 mo. ago, and I love them! They still look and feel brand new. After the first few weeks of blisters (typical for docs, easily remedied by thick socks)I broke them in and they fit like a glove. Very functional and fasionable, my fiancee now wants a pair! Comfortable for walking around all day, driving, ect. They get hot in warm weather (duh)and take awhile to lace(duh). Overall: an excellent boot!

I love Dr. Martens, but not these boots!
These boots never started feeling comfortable and never stopped hurting! The upper leather of the boots is really stiff and didn't really "mold" to fit my legs. Especially the tongue! Ouch! And that tongue never would stay in place and would slide to the side.

I got these boots in July and couldn't take them off since!! They came about two days after my mom ordered them for me. They are cery comfortable now but at the beginning watch out. The heels are painful for about 2 weeks. Once you break them in they are great but before that you walk around with scabs on the back of your feet. Also, the laces wear out really quickly from all the lacing and unlacing. Other than those two quirks, THEY ARE WONDERFUL BOOTS!!!!! They are very worthwhile and plus you can be worn with ANYTHING. They look good with skirts, dresses, pants, whatever. Be prepared FOR THE BEST BOOTS IN THE WOLRD!!

Preface: I was looking for a good boot for riding motorcycles and wanted Docs.
Review: I'm 6'1" and have a 17 inch circumference 14 inches up on my leg. There was concern about these not fitting properly but with reassurance from Zappos customer support I got them. Shipping was quick and I immediately got them on. I discovered that these boot require thick long socks like the socks used in soccer, which is the type I picked up. NOTE: Thick socks. With thin socks the leather just above the heel will roll inward and rub which is very uncomfortable.
Normal uses: riding a sport bike and driving 5 speed compact car.
With thick socks these things are great but once you have a thin pair on, you'll remember not to do that again. With a thin pair of socks, I tried tight lacing and loose. Loose was the best in this case.
CONs: laces are barely long enough (have concerns regarding longevity) and the lacing is obviously time-consuming.

I am previous customer of Zappos and I would like to mention that zappos has great service. However, when it comes to this shoe, I wouldn't reccomend it. I didn't purchase this shoe from the zappos website but recieved them from another Dr Martens site and I would like to say that I too were dissapointed. The shoe material feels like a cheap plastic which I didn't expect. I don't know what happened but these dr martens look nice, but the overall material of the shoe is not sturdy like other dr marten boots nor do they appear like they'll last a long time.

Im a 43 year-old, never grow old woman. I always wanted these boots, now I have them, and let me tell you, I knew I'd like them but I didn't know I'd LOVE them!! They feel great, the cut from the ankle and up around the calf has a really nice comfortable snug feel. To soften right away, I recommend a couple of rounds of saddle soap, let that dry! then follow up with mink oil - then walk, walk, walk, wear two pair of socks. I've had them less than a week and they're already breaking in. I got one blister on my heel, and one on my finger, (from pulling the strings too hard!)

I recently ordered the Dr. Martens's 9663 Series. They were delivered before I even expected them. I love the boots and they are a perfect fit. Breaking them in takes time and guts but they are well worth it!

Hey -
Did I get different boots from all the other reviewers? These are my 6th pair of Docs boots in 12 years (11th pair of Docs total), and I couldn't be much more disappointed. This awful leather is like plastic and isn't breaking in without cracking (and I know my stuff about boots.) If these weren't such totally hot, wicked kicks I would have returned them. The construction is great, just like all Dr Martens, but this leather is miserable. I finally took fine sandpaper to them and sanded the plastic coating off the leather (which crumbled off in white flakes) to get down to the real leather where they can absorb some conditioners, soften up, and hopefully break in. I want a pair of these boots in the grizzly or greasy finish instead of this stiff shiny plastic coating that these had.

My shoes are super cool and everyone compliments me all the time. It sucks to lace them up cause it takes forever, but kinda worth it once you get them. They were a little big too which sucked cause I didn't wanna send them back cause it would take so long. But overall I really like them and they're hot stuff.
