Impressive...
I bought these forever ago (in tan) and just wore them recently and I must say they do smell funny, but it's not that serious. They do give the illusion of a pricy shoe at a bargain. I plan to buy them in black also. I've been interested in some Chelsea boots for quite a while and these piqued my interest. They cost half as much as Timberland and 1/4 as much as the better brands. For the price they're worth a try.

These shoes are great and I'm on my 3rd pair. I love the flexibility of wearing these 9-5 or with jeans after 5. I get lots of compliments.

It's true, they have a very strong gasoline smell. I purchased these even after reading the many reviews commenting on the strong odor of these shoes. I took them out of their covers and aired them out for 2 weeks before wearing them, but there was still a strong odor. To me, it smelled of gasoline, but other people around me said they smelled cigarette smoke. It was very noticeable. I wiped them down with shoe cleaner and put neutral wax on them, which greatly reduced the smell, but 3 months after purchasing they still have a very noticeable odor. It's unfortunate because they look sharp and are comfortable. Also, I wear a size 13 in nearly every shoe but had to get a 14 to fit in these.

Absolutely reek.
As a smoker with diminished senses, I can definitely smell these shoes when wearing them. I'm a chemist, and I know my solvents. These don't smell of fresh rubber, polymers or urethanes, it really smells like gasoline, with an airy essence of burning tire. It was pretty unbearable when I took them out of the box, but they looked so good and were so cheap I decided to keep them and let them air out. Bad first day at work, I had to make sure I didn't stay in one spot for too long. And a dinner date on the second wear was pretty bad. I left the on my front porch for two weeks before trying them again. Still smells. The comments at work and about are numerous, a very flashy shoe, for sure. Comfortable, well made, but of poor materials. I can't regret buying what will eventually be a good shoe, but I'm never buying this brand again. Get some Brutinis, they're cheap.

Great Shoes, Little Comfort!
I bought these shoes last year ('07) and within two days after ordering them I received them, very surprised! I've read other reviews mention a certain leather "smell" that they had, it did have it but it wasn't as strong as people made it out to be.
The sole is very HARD (very uncomfortable) I bought insoles for them and feel better. Overall, a decent shoe for the price!

Nice boot but...
Great look for casual or business, comfortable, outstanding price. It is true about the weird smell, I believe it has to do with some type of substance that is "painted" over the boot to make it shiny in appearance; after a couple of wearings in areas that were creased, the substance actually pealed off! I contemplated sending it back, however, because of I liked the boot so much, I ended up wiping of the pealings and cleaned the boot with a leather cleaner and then polished it with a black polish. Normally I wouldn't do this, but the price is so great and with the looks, comfort I decided to keep them. After the cleaning/polish it looks fine. The company really needs to stop with whatever "glaze" they put on the boot. That said, worth it because of the price.

Zengara Boots -
I ordered my boots on wed and I was surprised to see that I got them with in 3days with standard shipping. The boots look and feel great. I am glad I made this great buy. I pair black the other brown.

Nice for the price -
These are good shoes, but they did take some time to break in (I have a some wide feet, too). The leather looks good and the sole isn't rubber which gives it a higher end look. I would give the shoe higher marks, but I have some nice $100+ K. Cole shoes and those look better than these. For the price, these are worth the money.

I finally found shoes I enjoy wearing -
I just turned 18 and I've been looking for months now on different things to wear because throughout high school I've worn A&F clothing and flip-flops. I never liked tennis shoes because I think they look terrible with jeans. I recently discovered dress shoes and then found out about dress boots and these Zengaras were my first pair. I love them - they're comfortable and much more stylish than I thought they would be. I wear size 11 and got them in 10 1/2 due to the reviews I have read and they fit just fine. They do have a slight smell of gasoline as well, but nowhere near as strong as I feared it would be and it seems to be going away. I also ordered these shoes a bit after 1:00PM and they got here in less than 24 hours, so what Zappos said holds true. I love the shoes and I will definitely try Zappos again when I want to buy more.

A brand to trust -
I been wearing Zengara by accident, never ask a friend to go and get a pair of shoes for you on an emergency, thus ever since, all the Zengara pairs I had before had my complete approval and tested over time, they live long. The Z30034 (Boots) are a good buy, I was trilled to open the box, and look at this well formed, affordable and stylish footwear. I only wish Zengara made them a bit wider.

Not as good as the last pair -
I purchased a second pair of these shoes because I like the first pair I bought but the last/current pair are of a cheaper quality. I almost sent them back but it just wasn't worth my time then. I am on my feet all day (salesman) and they are rather comfortable because of the design. However, within a week of use, they looked old. The creases in the shoes look like cheap plastic. I don't know if I just got a bad pair shipped to me but I am not happy with the product.

These shoes were made for walking -
Working in the fashion industry, looking trendy is always a must, but who wants to spend so much money on dress shoes sometimes, these shoes are a great alternative they look great feel great and I get complimented on them every time I wear them. So I’m definitively gonna buy the brown and also keep an eye on this brand. Thanks Zappos.

These are some good looking, good feeling shoes. At first I got the wrong size, but customer service sent me the right size shoe without waiting for me to the send the original pair. I have never seen great customer service like that. This shoe is great and so is Zappos! ~

Very Good Boots for a Great Price -
Excellently priced boots. They were extremely stiff before break in but after I wore them for a few days they loosened up nicely. Very comfortable. If you do a lot of walking you might want to use an insole. I use them on my 8 1/2 hour days as a retail salesman and they hold up quite nicely.

I bought this boot for my husband. Stylish and attractive boot, he says it fits well. He adds that the sole is a bit thin, but for that price you can easily afford an insole, as well!

I bought these for my husband and he loves them. They fit, they're comfortable and they're just dressy enough to look nice out, but not so dressy that you can't wear them everywhere, and I didn't even have to spend a lot. I'm happy.

Great shoes at a great price -
I've got to say these are really great boots for the price. You could easily pay upwards of $100 for these and not be disappointed. They trekked through Amsterdam and Oktoberfest shortly after I got them no worse for wear.
They did need a break in period, but wear them for a couple of days straight and you are good to go....now one of my most comfortable pairs of shoes.
Didn't really notice the smell being overwhelming. They smelled like new leather boots!

Smell like fuel -
Like many of the other reviews, I found that the shoes wreak of the smell of fuel. The first time I wore them a woman at my dinner table kept remarking that she smelled gas. It is starting to smell better but still have the smell.
The look and feel are real nice for an inexpensive shoe and I will be real happy with them once the odor eases.

Absolutely elegant -
The shoe is beautiful. It is very comfortable (even for a wide foot) and is very stylish. I get compliments from many people when I wear it. I find myself wearing it to work and at social occasions as well.

Great shoe for the price. Very comfortable and breaks in quickly. Exterior wax does have a strong leather smell, but this will wear off quickly. You may need an insert if you do a lot of walking.

Smells bad, looks great!
Shoes showed up with an awful smell of a gas and oil mixture. I called to exchange the shoes because of the smell, which Zappos was nice enough to do with no problem. New pair showed up with same smell but not as bad. I'm keeping the shoes because they look great with my suit! That's how nice they look. I hope the smell goes away.
