I purchased these shoes as an investment for a much planned for trip to Italy. I was looking for a great supportive walking shoe with style beyond a sturdy athletic shoe. I was told to wear them with thin socks as they would conform to my foot as I wore them. Despite the investment, these shoes nearly ruined my vacation! They offer no arch support and the bottom of my feet ached each day after walking and touring. I finally went to a pharmacy and purchased Dr. Scholl's inserts. After putting these into the shoes, I could at least keep up. Don't waste your money!

Looks can be deceiving -
I have many other Mephisto shoes and assumed this to be just as comfortable as all the rest. I bought this shoe, put it away and just got it out to wear. OUCH! I went from my SAS walking shoes to this. I was going to wear this shoe around the house. They immediately hurt my little toes. I did change my socks and readjust the tabs and wore them on carpet for a time. Still not comfortable and off they came! I think these should have given me excellent arch support and a smooth ride. Compared to my SAS they fall FLAT! What can I say?

Very comfy, though not my favorite style -
I have foot problems these days, and these are really the only shoes I can wear comfortable -- even better than sneakers. I don't love how they look, though -- too much like those Chinese slippers from the 70s.

So this seemed like a really wonderful walking shoe. I ended up returning it though, because I didn't like the way my heel slid around in it--even after tightening the heel straps my heels kept lifting up with every step. Maybe it's meant to do that, like your heel is meant to lift up when you walk in Danskos, but since I was essentially looking for a dressy looking athletic shoe, I really wanted my heels to stay in place, like they would in sneakers. The price is also a bit high--I think if my heel hadn't slipped around it would have been worth it, but since it wasn't perfect I decided to go with another shoe instead. The shoe I ended up getting instead was the Eastland Venus--it's very similar in design to this shoe, but my heel doesn't slip around in it, plus it's much cheaper. I think the sole on this Mephistos was probably a bit better than the sole on the Eastland, but the lower price and the better fit convinced me to go with the Eastland anyway. If you like this shoe but are balking at the price, you might want to check out the Eastland Venus. Hope that helps!

As long as I wear socks with this shoe it's a good fit and extremely comfortable. It has a great arch support. They are much easier to put on and take off than a lace up athletic shoe, which is why I purchased them. I visit my sons in Japan often and you have to get used to removing your shoes frequently there.

These are the most comfortable walking shoes I have ever had. I can walk miles in them, and never wear anything else if I can help it. I only wish they came in more colors. I'd love a pair in chocolate brown nubuck.

NO ARCH SUPPORT -
This good looking AND expensive Mephisto shoe does not come with built-in arch support. Buyer beware. Look elsewhere if arch support is important.

GOOD BUT NOT GREAT -
I usually wear Finn Comforts and the occasional Dansko. Mephistos haven't suited my feet in the past but I thought I'd give a different style a try. The Lannys are reasonably comfortable but I don't think I'll want to wear them for long periods of time. One big downside is they make my feet very hot.

Great Shoe -
I was looking for a shoe I could wear without socks that would be good for everyday and travel. This shoe fits the bill. Plus, you can take out the inner sole and my custom arch support work perfect.

Cute and Comfortable but not worth the $ -
I bought these shoes and I thought they were comfortable but I don't think they are so fantastic that they are worth the cost. I ended up returning them and buying a pair of Timberland shoes which were much less expensive and just as comfortable. I don't like the look of my Timberland shoes quite as well but they're still very cute.

I absolutely love these shoes. They are so comfortable and they look good with jeans or casual pants. I am unable to wear sneakers because they do not offer enough support, but these shoes do and can be worn with many different types of clothing. I do think they are pricey, but I own several Mephisto shoes and they wear well. Lastly, I love Zappos. Their customer service is the best, and it is a pleasure to buy from them.

One of the best shoes that I own. The arch support is excellent. Style of shoe is very cute. People always compliment how cute the shoe is. I have walked miles at a time in this shoe, and it is very comfortable, and very supportive. Well worth the price.

TOO CUTE & COMFY FOR WORDS...
I have very "blister prone" feet...and...I took these darling cute shoes out of the box, and wore them Christmas shopping expecting to have very sore feet at the end of the day -- BUT -- They're sooooo "comfy" and fit me like a dream -- My fussy & tender size 6-C feet LOVE them (lots of room in the toe box)...The beautiful design and workmanship garnered lots of compliments everywhere I went...I told everybody about www.zappos.com too!!!

While I am not completely sure this shoe is worth its high price, it is comfortable overall, although I'd like greater arch support. I particularly like that the inside of the shoe is white, so there is no black stain on socks after wearing. Much more comfortable than a similarly styled but more casual all-rounder.

Perfect for the occasion -
I purchased these shoes for my adult daughter. I wanted her to be comfortable on our visit to London. She loved them! Couldn't get over how you could just put them on and love the comfort right out of the box.

I love thee shoes and wish there was a greater color selection. They need to have more of an arch support but orthotics work well in them. They look great on as well.

As comfortable as the Allrounder, but way more spiffy -
These are pricey but incredibly comfortable, and they can readily go into office settings for which the Allrounder is too casual.

Good walking shoe, a little pricey -
I looked and looked for a "walking" Mary Jane and this was the best looking one I found (I ordered one or two others and returned them). It is very comfortable and you could definitely walk in it all day. I ordered a 10.5 after reading the reviews here and now after wearing it a couple of times I kind of wish I had ordered a 10 because it is a little big without socks. Oh well, guess I'll just have to wear it with socks! I ordered it for a vacation to Italy that I haven't taken yet but anticipate that it will fill its purpose just fine.

I can see why this shoe gets such great reviews. It feels wonderful. I am between a 6-1/2 to 7, and got the 6-1/2 which puts pressure on my big toe, so I will need to size up. But walking around indoors with them the first thing I noticed is I could not tell if I was on carpet or hard tile. The shoe is so shock absorbing the feeling is the same. Plus they look fantastic. I did notice that they don't have much arch support so I'll probably wear an insert as I have high arches, but the overall balance and springy-ness of the shoe is promising.

Mephisto sizing is off -
I was very excited about this shoe when I saw it. I love the look. However, it does not come in a large enough size for me. All other manufacturers equate a size 42 to an 11-11.5, and a 41 to a 10-10.5. I always wear a size 11/42. For some reason, Mephisto considers a size 42 to be a size 12 and most of their shoes (including the Lanny) only go to a size 41. I tried the 41 but it was way too small. I was very ready to spend the money for this shoe (and many other Mephisto’s) but it does not come in a 42. Very sad!

They look good BUT for the price it isn't have a good arch support and cushion, I was disappointed.

Great Shoes!
My Doctor recommended Mephisto’s because I have Morton's Neuroma. I liked these shoes for the summer time. They look good with cropped pants. I wore them on vacation to Italy and my feet did not hurt even after walking all day. I did order 1/2 size larger because of the width.

I love these shoes. They are absolutely great for walking. My feet never tire. They are well-constructed with excellent arch support. The fit is just perfect and true to size. They are a bit pricey, but definitely worth the money.

Incredibly comfortable for walking. I am seven months out of foot surgery and still quite sore. These are the only shoes I can walk any distance in. Excellent cushioning and they don't rub anywhere. Moreover, they are attractive. I've bought two pairs and plan to take them on a seven week trip to Europe. They are expensive, but worth every penny!

Fantastic!
This shoe was pure comfort from the moment I put it on. I wore these shoes all day long in Carmel, went hiking on a short day trip in them and my feet were cool and comfortable the whole way. I am planning on getting more of these as I really don't think I have ever worn a better shoe!
