"If The Boot Fits, Swear By It"
Well I must be honest. When the person took my order and said that they would be here tomorrow, I thought "yea, right". Well I received the boots under 24 hours, right size AND style! I will never go to the mall again. And I must add, I love Zappos! I have already picked out another pair and we be ordering these real soon. But I am not telling which ones they are, I like to be original. Sorry. Thank you again Zappos, which is now bookmarked on my desktop. A very happy first time buyer with Zappos.

Devoted to Doc Martens (and Zappos)-
I got my first pair of Doc Martens boots at age 17, and this is my third pair (Im 43 years old- these were my birthday present)- Docs last almost forever; close to a decade on average for me! The debut for this new pair was Cruefest in NJ (standing and walking around for about 6 hours, including a romp in the woods from parking lot to venue) and I did not get a blister or feel any discomfort (I wore socks and jeans, not tights and a skirt, though- the socks probably buffered things a bit). The steel toes were great in a crowd- I did not feel any of those drunken bikers step on my feet! They were a little warm- maybe not the best choice for a concert in August but I bet they will be great in the fall and winter. Usually, I buy the more streamlined classic Docs boots, because I am petite, but I like this style even more- the thick sole is heightening, and the boot is not overly clunky for my size, even with the sole and steel toe. They are all leather and really, really sturdy- I will probably hit 60 before I need my next new pair. If you love Doc Martens, you will love this boot. Just remember- Docs run a size large. And as always, these shoes came with all of the excellence of Zappos- after finding Zappos, I buy shoes nowhere else- they cannot be beat for selection and customer service.

The King is dead! Long live the King!
I bought my last pair of Docs about the same time I bought my last Soundgarden CD. These are definitely not the same boots. The construction seems comparable, but the leather simply isn't the same grade. It is thinner and already showing some creasing at stress points after only a week break in period. That said, however, they still have that distinctive Dr Martens look that you just can't get any other way. Yeah, it really is as cool as you remember.
Do yourself a favor and order one full size down as they are English sized and don't even THINK about wearing them without a decent set of insoles. At this price you would think that insoles would be part of the deal, but you'd be wrong. Expect one bad day and two less than ideal days to break in (especially where the tongue crosses the metatarsal region) but after that they're fairly comfortable for boots of this size and weight. The sole is as advertised, and the black color makes for a more presentable shoe. Use mink oil to help seal, and get some 'Wonder Balsam', as polish ruins the whole effect. You might even throw some STP and Alice in Chains in the rotation.

Very tough -
The good: I've had these boots for about 6 months now, and I come home straight from work or from out doing stuff in the mud and they polish up good as new. Since I've owned them, I've worn them nearly every day (excluding days off, where I don't even wear shoes). All the tread is still there, and the only problems I've had with the leather have been minor scratches due to me dropping something heavy (and sharp) onto my toe. The steel toe is non-safety rated, but I have yet to drop ANYTHING onto my foot that these haven't held up to. The bad: Very heavy if you're used to wearing something like Chuck Taylor's for 5 years straight, and the sole is very large and extends past the toe and behind the heel of your foot quite a lot. Also, they take about 3 weeks to a month to break in, and during that time the leather is very stiff (walking up and down stairs for the first month in these was a hazard). All in all, if you can put up with the comfort issues that come with wearing these for a month of breaking in, they're definitely worth it.

Best Rugged Boot -
This is hands down the nicest, most durable, steel toe, non-safety boot that I have ever bought! I recommend putting a sole in though, but other than that, its worth every dollar... also, they have the potential to be very reliable combat/fighting effective boots. Will last you very long.

Great Boot Even Better Shipping -
Great Boot! I read some reviews and these definitely run a little big. I ordered a US 10 even though I wear a 10.5-11 and they fit just how they should. Best part is I ordered these pair at 3:30pm and they were waiting on my doorstep when I got home from around 3:00pm the next day! Excellent Shipping, Price and Service!

The best DM boots ever!
They are the best ones that I've ever had. You can tell by the way that they're made and the break in process that they will last for a long time. They are a bit heavy on the feet, so they take a bit of getting used to. I put some insoles in, and now that they're broken in, they feel great.

Awesome Boots!
This is only my 2nd pr of DM because they last forever. Believe it or not, I wore my last ones 6 years and I wore them a lot. For me, these particular Docs ran a size larger than my normal size but I reordered on Thursday evening and received them the next day. Zappos has extraordinary service and I will continue to order from them in the future! The boots are comfortable and look great.

Awesome boot!
The Docs are VERY well made and display the classic Docs look. I like the steel toes because I think the toes keep a better shape in the toe region as opposed to caving in slightly a year or so down the line. They bring me back to the early 90s grunge era of flannel shirts, loud music, and... well... Doc Martens. I read a review stating that they felt a full size smaller than marked, but I would have to disagree. I took this advice and had to return them. Fortunately, Zappos has PHENOMENAL customer service. I was losing hope in all service industries at that point and online commerce... but the Zappos customer service agent was professional, courteous, and had my shoes to me lightning quick!

First DM boots -
After reading numerous reviews here on various DM boots, I made the plunge and bought these. I now want more DM boots. They do take a little breaking in, are very stiff at first, but within a couple of wears (double socks!), they are almost squeak free and are comfortable to wear. They are a bit difficult to get on with all the lacing, but I'm very pleased with my purchase. I ordered at 4:35 on Thursday, they were at their destination by Friday at noon. I was impressed! I wear a 6.5 usually, but these size 4s fit perfectly.

Run large, order down a size -
Second pair of these great boots and I expect this pair to last the many years that the first did. They do run large though and I had to order a full size smaller than normal. And they are a bit stiff for a while until you break them in.

I didnt mean to get the steel toe boot, but its ok. They still look good and are very comfortable. Only took about one week to get the boot worn in. I also got my shoes the very next day. Always nice, I will definitely shop here again.

Almost perfect -
Pick up some moleskin, as the break-in period will likely tear holes in your ankles and/or heels. These look every bit as good as the Docs I owned in high school. But those old British-made Docs didn't wreak such havoc during break-in. If you need arch support, definitely pick up some orthotics.

From 20 Years to the Present...
Gosh, I sound so old when I say I've been buying Docs since 1986, but I'm not even 40 :o) I started buying my Docs on St. Marks NYC that long ago. I caved because my favorite daily wear Docs have finally gotten a tear after 7 years (not too shabby and I'm getting them fixed) and they aren't making them anymore. The other DM shoes and boots are fine and will be forever because they don't get daily use. These came the day after I ordered them and I wasn't sure what to expect...the box was the same, but they weren't going to say Made in England. First observation is that the leather isn't that different, though on some boots and shoes I have, it's thicker. The black sole, my favorite and why I chose this boot, seems not to be as dense, but I have no complaint. Amazingly, they are only the second pair out of 15 that didn't require a few weeks of bleeding and pain to break in. I got them this afternoon, put them right on, and just got back from walking/running the dog a little over a mile. That's why I have these boots, believe it or not...to walk the dog at night. I'm really amazed: no ankle blister, no heel blister and no chafing up top. I've had a lot of experience here (and been through a lot of pain) so maybe I have it down pat. My advice is ONE sock, not overly thick, cotton, that fits snugly and won't bunch. A little big on the boot is good (so my 7 is a little big, but that's ok...the 5 is too small), but too big and the heel rubs. Get the right size, DO NOT get them too big. Get the bottom-most laces fairly tight, leave the ankle laces a little loose, and then get the upper ones as tight as you can and still be comfy. I can't stress enough that you shouldn't get them too big...the rubbing is what kills you. Since Zappos let's you send them back for free, try to size down if they have too much room. I have Docs that are brand new after 20 years because I didn't get the size right and you won't ever break those in. I have a wide foot and arch support isn't an issue, but width is and these are perfect. They do run bigger, by a half size, so keep that in mind when ordering. I don't know if I'll get 7 years of walking the dog out of these, but I probably shouldn't have gotten 7 out of the others. It's just a tradition thing, I know, and I'll buy them anyway, but one can still hope. So, no complaints, pretty pleased, and I guess I'll be buying them for another 20 years! Oh (I know this was long), but you CANNOT beat Zappos 110% price match, FREE shipping both ways (and overnight, no less)! Why would you shop anywhere else?

Not bad -
I always thought Doc Martens were renowned for the quality of their boots. I heard many people say that they have had their Doc Martens for years, but from the looks of these, it doesn't seem like they'll hold up for longer than a year and 1/2. Honestly don't think theyre worth the price.

A devoted Dr. Marten wearer -
I've been wearing Dr. Martens for years now because I love how comfortable they are, particularly for walking. I've worn several different styles and have loved them all. That said the 8761 Series is now my Dr. Marten boot. They required almost no break in time, which is new for their boots in my experience, but probably most important is the fit. I have narrow feet and have trouble fitting shoes satisfactorily. These boots feel like they were made for my feet.
A quick note about sizing: I give them perfect fitting marks all around. I think this might hold true if you have narrow feet as well. I can't speak for others.
If you want a comfortable rugged boot, this is it.

GREAT BOOTS FOR MOTORCYCLING -
I love these boots!!! I had a pair that lasted me about 3 years. Since I ride almost every day I need boots that will last. So I bought them again. These boots will definitely hold up to the toughest of environments. My only complaint is that they are not waterproof.

These boots look very tough, but after an easy breaking in, they're as comfy and protective as riding/work boots can be. I love the width, was concerned that only M was offered, but they're great on my C feet. Awesome soles, great ankle support and protection, perfect riding boots.

Once we got the right size, my daughter loves these boots! She has gotten lots of compliments on them, and refers her friends to the Zappos website. Be sure to break them in wearing a pair of thick socks to prevent blistering.

I'm Happy -
I love Docs. It makes me sad they moved to Thailand/China, but I definitely believe the quality is still high. My last pair was DM Industrials, and I beat on them, as my ONLY shoes/boots for 4 years. They are still OK, but looking ugly and very well worn. I bought this pair and am very happy. I'm 5 days in, been able to wear them every day, but still aren't "broken in". I'd say another week or two. I drive a stick shift, and the first couple days with these are tricky... Mainly, you can't bend your ankle at all. I was really torn between getting a size 12 and 13. My last Docs were 12, and fit perfect, but another pair I have are 12 and too small. I generally take a 13 in most shoes, and going 13 was the correct choice. I really like the look of these boots, but I do wish the toe was a little bit blunter. Badass boots though... I was also digging the 1940's (15 eye) and 1942's (20 eye). I decided that 15 or 20 eyes was too many to be my primary boots. I have to unlace 4 eyes, and then pry open the side of these boots to get them on. After lacing them up for 5 days, I'm glad I got the 10 eye boots. I will be getting a pair of 1942's to add to my repertoire though.

Well, first off, Zappos has about the quickest shipping that I've ever encountered. These boots look great, and they're moderately comfortable. However, my family seems to be cursed/blessed, with muscular, stocky legs, and I had a real hard time getting these suckers to fit the first time. I also have high arches, and they've been digging into them somewhat. I've you're a bigger guy (or gal), I'd say that you should get a pair one size up so these things feel and fit more comfortably on your legs.
