My son was on a mission to find a pair of boots to replace his favorite pair, a pair that has since been worn to their death. These were the perfect choice! He uses them as sneakers and as hiking boots, doesn't find them heavy at all, and would probably wear them everyday if he could. Come winter, he probably will. We ordered a size 3.5 and it was a perfect size for him. All in all we're very pleased, especially with the fast delivery... thanks, Zappos!

Zappos service OUTSTANDING!
I've always gotten great service from Zappos ... but this time, when they accidentally sent my son's shoe order to the wrong address, they called me, explained what happened, and credited us the ENTIRE price of the shoes -- gave them to us for free because of the error. Zappos is the best, and leaves all other mail order services in the dust! (And my son loves the shoes, too.)

Not durable - These fit well, are sturdy and comfortable. They appear to be great value for money, but they have only lasted 4 months. The heel is starting to come off the right boot and both heels have worn down fast.

Good shoe, good stability, good looks - I like the Hi-Tec line of shoes, some are better than others. The fit is a bit wide, so I wear a heavier sock. It can be a bit hard to cinch tightly. I wear a standard D width, and people with wider feet will like this shoe. I have a knee issue, so stability is a big issue for me, and this has a nice footprint, allows for a full day of comfort with good arch support and exceptional heel stability.

The comfort and workmanship of this shoe is unbelievable. It is by far the most comfortable dress shoe I've ever worn. Sadly, I returned the shoe because I have never been fond of patent even if it is "the style" and think suede is much too casual to polish up a suit. It would be the perfect shoe for me if it were available in a nice nappa leather and in other colors.

Wonderful shoes -
This is my son's first pair of tie shoes. He loves them and wears them every day to kindergarten. They are very lightweight and extremely well constructed. I'd buy them again in a heartbeat. Thank you Zappos for the shipping upgrade! I love Zappos!

Adirondack High Peak -
I have my third pair of Hi-Tec outlander and decided to buy the Altitude IV Plus for a 3 peak hike. I bought them the day before I peaked Wright, Algonquin and Iriquois and the boots were comfortable and durable. The boots took some edge off the strenuous day.

Like the other review, this one deplores the lack of length to the boot. I bought a pair 20 years ago & THEY were too short. Wake up, Hi Tech; a sale has been lost because I couldn't find a fit. Also, your materials are far inferior to 20 years ago.

Bought these boots for riding my Harley. Didn't really care for the traditional styles but wanted black. Black hiking boots aren’t that easy to find. I ordered several brands and found these were the best value. They are very sturdy; resist water, and most of all comfortable. Sent the other pairs back and my credit card was reimbursed within a week. Great service ZAPPO and I will continue to order my shoes through you. You make it pretty easy, thanks

Fantastic boots!
Absolutely no complaints on these boots. Fits perfectly, looks great, light-weight, well-constructed, and such a tremendous value. I have never had any problems with Hi-Tec boots. I've been wearing a pair of Hi-Tecs for the last several years and they still look and fit great, even after some very serious trails. Look forward to wearing these boots for many years to come.

Went hiking through the Andes Mountains for a week and managed to keep my feet warm or cool when needed (I also had a stellar pair of socks for the trip) and the flexibility of the shoes really helped with some tricky trails. I will say that because they are grey when you get them they get dirty very easily but nothing that a good wash wouldn't cure.

These boots fit great. I even bought a second pair. I often have problems fitting boots, since I have an enlarged knuckle on my big toe because of arthritis. Buy em you won't be disappointed.

Construction worker - VERY COMFORTABLE -
This is the 3rd pair of Hi-Tec boots I've bought. I work in new commercial construction and am on my feet 8-9 hours a day. I am also flat footed, so footwear is my most important thing I wear. I've had Caterpillar and Timberland boots in the past and wasn’t very happy with their comfortability. These boots come with very soft insoles already in the boots. The lace hooks are very secure and haven’t fallen off, unlike other boots I've owned. The soles have excellent grip. For me (being flat footed) the sloes last about a year. I highly recommend these boots, mostly because how comfortable they are.

Frequent Hiking Shoes -
I had to track these down online because they're the only ones that really fit my feet – often I have to "break in" shoes that are never really comfortable & these are ready from the first time I step into them. They've got sturdy support & don't get uncomfortable when I'm hiking 9-12 miles. I'll be ordering more as I wear these out.

Love the Hi Tec product line! This is the third pair of Hi Tec and I love 'em! Great arch support, good heel stability, and large toe box height. If you're an in between size, you *might* want to go down in size… not up. If you get a chance to try the V-Lite series by Hi Tec, it is even better! I wear a size 15 and a lightweight shoe is hard to come by, though they don't make the V-Lite over a 13 any longer.

I love this shoe. I bought a second pair to keep in the closet until the original pair wear out. Custom insoles and orthotics are no problem. The shoe provides a great combination of stability and cushioning. I have huge problems with high arches and a high instep and these are the best shoes for long walks and everyday wear that I have found. They are not great on hot summer days, but hot feet are much better than the pain I get from most shoes. Looks like Hi-Tec has discontinued this model. I would buy these before they disappear.

Your site is the only place I can get sneakers to fit my son with such wide feet and my daughter who is soooo fussy with what she gets.
