In 1990, Ariat International co-founders Beth Cross and Pam Parker set out to create a new company and a new way of thinking about footwear for riders. Both riders with backgrounds in the athletic shoe industry, they realized the unique needs of equestrians – both in the saddle and on the ground – and the performance-enhancing benefits that could be brought to riding boots to give these athletes an edge.
So they assembled a group of top footwear engineers and designers, and set them on the task of creating the world's most technically innovative performance riding boots. They started by re-designing the outsole, rethinking the arch support system and finally taking a hard look at the suitability of "traditional" last shape and fit. While they were establishing the technology platform for Ariat boots, they were also talking to hundreds of top riders who helped in the design and development of the final product.
In 1993, Ariat shipped their first pair of boots, and today Ariat is the world leader in performance equestrian footwear, offering a full range of English and Western riding boots, work boots and casual footwear – plus new lines of performance apparel and accessories to fully outfit today’s equine athletes and equestrian-inspired lifestyle enthusiasts.

WOW! Zappos has lightning fast delivery! Boots are great. Everyone was right, no need to go 1/2 size larger with these boots and I am hard to fit with a wide foot. The boots are very comfortable and look great. They seem to run a little large in the calf area for me as there is plenty of extra room in the shaft. I am very pleasantly surprised by the super fast service and a great fitting boot.

Great shoes. I wear orthotics and the removable sole was excellent. They are super cute, and well made. I am a make-up artist and I am on my feet all day, but I also have to be stylish. These fit the bill. Shipping was also super fast!

Noisy comfort -
The leather is beautiful as you would expect from Ariat, and they are not clunky at all. My foot size is narrow, so I will have to wear socks with them, or a half sole insert with a thinner knee high. The pewter tassels are noisy. I hate for people to hear me coming down the hall at work.

Great little flat.
This comfy shoe fit well right out of the box. I wear anywhere from a size 9 to 10, got this one in 9.5 and it's perfect. This pair will become a favorite for sure. I previously had a pair of Ariat’s that were a convertible clog (w/ a back strap that folded up over the top to make a slip-in) and I wore them all over the East coast on a 2 week trip. Glad to find a more feminine pair that is just as comfortable, cute and well-made.

Cute boot!
I take a size 9 and ordered this size. It seems like a good fit (a little roomy), but an 8-1/2 might have been better. I am assuming I will have thick socks on for cold weather so as long as they do not stretch, they will be perfect. Cannot wait to wear them with mini skirts and skinny jeans. Really comfy and nicely made. If they were not so expensive, I would buy another style in a funky color. I guess I will save up. Definitely keepers! Delivery was EXCELLENT!

Best shoes ever. I am a teacher and I'm on my feet as much as nurses. I also have four neuromas, two in each foot. These shoes run big and have a wide toe box, so they don't hurt and wearing them is wonderful. They're stylish too. I have two pairs!

Almost entirely comfortable, except the top pinched the nerves on the top of my feet. This is probably due to having very high arches. I had to return them. The footbed/back is extremely soft.

So Thrilled - I typically wear an 11.5, so I was ecstatic when I got these shoes. They fit me perfectly. But, these fit, and I can not believe how comfortable they are right out of the box. I will use these for riding, and they look great with jeans, but can't wait to break them out with a skirt! The one drawback...they LOOK like 11s. I always love a shoe that doesn't look as big as it is, but oh well, they make up for it everywhere else!

Good hiking boot -
I bought this boot based upon other reviews, and they were pretty much on the money. They can get warm though, which I guess would be good if colder weather! My only complaint, in the toe crease, it changed from dark brown to a lighter color, almost as if the leather was painted. Because it is a hiking boot for me, I am not sending it back, but if you wanted it to keep the natural leather appearance, it might be something to think about. I was actually surprised to read it was resistant to manure...not that I am a farm girl, but my sister is a dairy farmer...so I might just have to wear them there and see how they hold up.

Good looking boot -
Boots look great with your favorite old jeans. It’s hard to figure out how to size them. I ordered a full size smaller than normal and it was still a little loose in the toe. I’m going to the shoe shop to see what to do about this. The sole works great. Comfortable and functional with the non-slip tracks on bottom.

This boot meets all my expectations for Ariat footwear: solid workmanship, classic styling, and instant comfort. It's a great basic boot for everyday wear. I would love to have this same boot with a more fashion look, like red leather, since it is a shame that a boot that you can wear all the time is too plain to dress up.

Amazing boots!
This is my first pair of Ariat boots and I love them! The reviewers were correct - there is NO break-in time. The boots are comfortable out of the box and they are surprisingly light-weight (nothing like a Doc Martens boot). They are fashionable, sturdy, and made of quality leather. I am very impressed. The price is a bit high, but I have no doubt these boots will make it through years of use!

In-Sole Wears Out -
I bought this shoe last year in brown and really liked it. Within a few weeks, however, a big hole had worn in the insole. I thought it was a flaw of just that pair and bought another pair this summer. I was sorry I did because the same thing happened within a few weeks. It is disappointing because I really like the shoe.

First off, Zappos upgraded the shipping to overnight for free, what a nice gesture for a return customer. I'll be sure to look on their web site first for my next shoe purchase. Secondly, The Ariat Heritage Horseman boot is a wonderful boot, fits true to size, super color combination, and is basically a high quality casual boot with just the right heel height and toe roundness. It isn't too "cowboy'ie" if you know what I mean. You won't go wrong with these Ariats.

Cute, comfortable boot - I have what I consider to be normal-height arches and these boots were really tough to get on the first time. With each wearing it gets easier and now I can slide them on with little effort. They seem to mold really well to my feet and really comfortable. Plus they look cool. They are worth every penny and Ariat is my boot of choice now.

Love this shoe! This is a nice looking mule that is also very comfortable. I bought the shoes to wear with jeans while traveling and they worked out perfectly. I normally wear either a 6.5 or 7 size shoe and I bought these in a 6.5. They fit right out of the box.

I don't know which shoes the previous reviewer was saying were ugly, but these were definitely not! I bought the pink and I LOVE them! I get compliments from everyone! I ordered my regular size and they fit perfect. The insoles are extremely comfortable as well! I will definitely not hesitate to buy another pair of Ariat boots!

I love my Timbuk2 bag. I ride my bike to work and the medium bag is perfect for all my stuff (change of clothes, my lunch, toiletries, towel and a few other items). It sits very comfortably on my back, even when it is packed to the brim.

Ariats are always my first choice - LOVE these shoes, would love them even if I didn't live in Texas. Very rich and classy looking with a little edge. Feminine and sexy but not frilly. Very comfortable and the pointed toe doesn't make my feet look bigger.

The right ones! I work in a very large warehouse so there is a lot of walking all day. I have had these boots for a few months now and will still give them a great review. I have back problems and these help. I also have a high arch and it is hard to find a boot or shoe with a high enough arch. If you are on your feet a lot these are the best. I have been through a lot of shoes trying to find the right ones.
