Great shoe!
For this type of shoes, I've tried other brands but this has been the best I've found. The fit and the look are just great. Zappos customer service was also great. The shoes were delivered earlier than expected.

Not what they used to be -
In reading the reviews, many of them start something like "I bought these X years ago..., and still have them." I agree, as I bought the same boot ago 9 years ago, and have been through 4 new soles. They never leave my feet, and I love them. I was sorely disappointed when my new pair showed up. For a boot that was built exactly the same for over 20 years, the construction of the modern model is grossly inferior to the original. While they are comfortable, and look good, I feel they would last a fraction of the time my older pair would. Sent back... Crying.

The Cadillac of Hiking Boots -
I bought these while hiking in Acadia National Park (hence 'Cadillac' word play). I had a pair of Garmonts that I liked before, and was going to stick with that brand until the sales person had me try these on. These are far more comfortable. I tend to need wider shoes, I got these in a medium width and they are perfect. Perfect build. Lightweight. Breath. As long as they make these I will buy them as needed, which I think will not be too frequently!

First off, this is probably my favorite shoe right now. I got a pair in black/white and a pair in green/white. I liked them that much. Since both shoes are the same I will say that if you decide to get the green/white pair (highly recommended) don't be surprised when you get them. These shoes are GREEEEEN! Like green, green. Absolutely awesome. You'll have to take care of the green a bit more than the black because of the suede. And being green you'll notice anything on them. But that comes with the territory. They are not too bad with comfort, I wear both of them loose, they aren't snug. Not much arch support. But you just cannot beat the looks. I'll keep buying these shoes for a while!!! Very happy with both pairs.

Solid trail runners - I use these for exactly what they seem to be designed for – trail running over rough terrain in less than perfect weather. They are warmer and a little heavier than other trail shoes, but support is great and they feel great on cool wet days.

An awesome hiking boot -
The fit was great right out of the box. I originally bought this shoe for my yard work since I have some serious slopes on my property. I needed a shoe that supported my ankles and also provided a good grip. This was absolutely the perfect shoe. It is also a comfortable shoe and it breathes very well. My feet are cool throughout and I like that the laces make it easy on-off.

I've owned several Vasque hikers before and they are a great value! I have narrow heels and these are the only hiking boots that fit me. I rated them 4 out of 5 simply because I don't have them broken in. This pair needs to be broken in more than other pairs I've owned. They run a 1/2 size larger but ordering the smaller size they still fit great.

Best light hiking shoe - Excellent Shoe. I wear a medium width and I have narrow heels. This shoe is perfect. Very padded construction, great traction, and waterproof. Arch support that is right for me. Zappos is the only place to shop for shoes!

I love how this shoe fits my foot and handles the trail. It is lightweight yet cushioned and protects my foot on the rocky trails.
The problem was the new cushioning on the soles heel. Two separate ovals worked themselves out and off the shoe after only two weeks of use which left openings for small stones to catch in the upper level of the sole.

Awesome boots. Did a 6 hour hike up Mt. Mansfield, with wet conditions on steep rocks. This on my first time wearing them, not broken in, and they were amazing!! No Blisters!!!

I bought these primarily for walking, although I do day hiking when I travel a couple of times a year. I haven't yet determined how comfortable they will be for rocky hiking, but they're great on sidewalks, roadways, and other paved surfaces.

Good fit and quality. No problems at all. Nice roomy toe box. Stiff and good support. Good protection from rocks on the toe and under foot. Just a good workhorse trail shoe.

Love the shoe. I have a pair of Vasque boots that are heavy, so I was looking for a light weight shoe for hiking. This shoe is light weight, but still has the comfort and support like I get from my boots. I have been hiking on trails that have a lot of loose rock and they have good traction. I would definitely recommend this as a good light-weight hiker.

I am addicted to this shoe -
I absolutely LOVE this shoe and don't know what I will do if they stop making it. This is my 6th or 7th pair, and I use this shoe both for trail running and road running. I even ran an all-road marathon in this shoe, after trying other road-specific shoes in my training. This shoe is the only one that keeps my feet from aching after running more than 10 miles.

Passed the test in national parks -
I never had to think about my feet once during a hiking trip in the national parks. That is the best compliment for a shoe. The Gore-Tex kept my feet dry on snowy trails. I was glad to have these for my wide feet.

If it doesn't fit you must acquit -
I used to own a pair of Vasque Sundowner GTX and for years it held-up excellent as I hiked along the Appalachian Trail. I put hundreds of miles on them. Then naturally the sole has just worn out and when I ordered another pair, wow was it awful. It turns out Vasque now makes these boots somewhere else and the fit is not the same as in the old days when Vasque made them in Italy. I really wish they would go back to the Italian version. Buyer beware until they make this boot back in Italy were it belongs. It’s sad to see a company regress.

My only complaint is a bit of squeakiness in the left foot, where the removable sole meets the shoe's sole. I will be trying a bit of cornstarch or other powder, but am otherwise very happy with the shoe. Many people have commented on the appearance, and how nice this looks!

Great but pricey -
Bought the wide version for walking around, not running (although I’m an avid runner). Lots of wiggle room. Like the look and feel. The lugs (tread) are definitely meant for trail running because they have a lot of grip. I find myself skidding, if you will, from the tread catching.

This is a very sturdy boot with great ankle and arch support. After two weeks of break in, I tested them with a 60+ mile backpacking trip. They are wonderfully grippy and waterproof, but did give me a few hot spots. I'd definitely recommend them though. :)

The sole on one boot disintegrated in only about six months. The same thing happened to a pair of Vasque Wasach I bought last year, too. Vasque used to have excellent quality. Two failed boots in less than six months of wear is a worrisome trend.

I would love to do so, but I can't recommend this shoe. I've been trying to break them in for 3 weeks.
The first time I wore it on a short hike, it almost rubbed off the top of my feet. It really crimps the toes. It has irritated a small bunion that hasn't bothered me in years. The arch support is non existent, the shoe is hot and not at all light weight. On top of all that, it turns the foot over instead of providing balance and support. I had to buy a pair of LOWAS to wear on hikes. I wore them straight out of the box on a rocky, difficult hike with no problems. My feet were in heaven. That shoe was the Klondike.
I rarely criticize a shoe and I love the looks of this Breeze and have received compliments; but for me, it is just not a comfortable shoe. I have a narrow foot with super high arches if that helps anyone make their own decisions.

Vasque's Zephyr Tech provided excellent ankle support, has a neat hi-tech look, and the cable system could snug the boot as tight as desired.
Problems: If you over tighten the boot's reel system there is no way to back off a notch to loosen the boot. To loosen you pull the knob which completely releases the cable. You then need to retighten the cable (by cranking on the knob) from scratch. Although the boot can tighten quite snugly it didn't have the same feel as adjusting standard lacing to fit your foot. I can't say this is bad, just a different feel.
Approximately one month after purchasing the boot I noted that the steel cables were cutting through the softer materials in the tongue on both boots. A couple weeks later one of the cable strands broke making it impossible to properly tighten the boot. During this six week period of time the boots were worn only in an office environment. They never saw trail conditions.
I contacted Vasque customer service to see if this was a warranty defect only to receive a form letter telling me to see my retailer. I called Zappos customer service and had a UPS call tag emailed to me within an hour. I was wearing a new boot within a week (my slow shopping not a Zappos delay). Zappos took care of the problem above and beyond what I expected. Kudos to Zappos.

VASQUE'S MARGA IS THE BEST!
This boot is perfect for all seasons, it's well made, supportive, and sturdy while being very lightweight as well. The Marga mid has a wide toe box and a narrow heel that makes going down hill a breeze. To top it off this boot is flexible enough to trail run too.
I did have to buy some insoles (Walgreens $10.) for added shock absorption, but I have to do that with ALL my shoes.
No break in time needed- I wore these right out of the box on a 3 hour hike with no blisters and feet feeling fine.
I love these boots and I'll only buy VASQUE from now on!
